If making a reservation, make sure to give ample time to find parking at a nearby parking garage as the venue has limited parking. Overall food and service was great.
I am German and know German kitchen and food. The wiener's probably were bought in balk and then placed in the microwave prior to serving, the fried onions tasted liked rancid fat. The brezels were edible and the wiener schnitzel was ok, jaeger-schnitzel was lacking any resemblance of freshly cooked food, with a amalgam of a sauce that did not contain any freshly cooked mushrooms, peppers or other veggies. The spaetzle were bland. Some of my guest were sick after dinner.
The service was worse than if it had been self service. We had reserved a table outside. It had not been prepared and we were told we could not go outside. After repeated requests one server told us that we actually could go outside and should just go were the plates were. There were about 5 plates but no silverware, the lack of which did not get noticed by either us or the waiters until later. The staff did not check on us very often outside, so we the appetizers got cold while we were waiting. We had also asked for an appetizer for the whole party of 12, which was misunderstood so that they actually left an appetizer meant for 7 people at one side of our group.
The worst dis-service was noted when the entree arrived and after 11 of 12 people had been served we were told that the kitchen actually did not have the pork-shank ordered by our 12th guest who thus remained without food. (we shared and gave some of our food to him). No excuse was offered by the manager.
The only good thing to say about the hofbraeuhaus is the quality of the beer served.
We will never visit this disgraceful place again and are embarrassed to think that this place could be thought to be representative of any German restaurant.
My family and I went to the Hofbrauhaus - St. Petersburg after attending a recent Tampa Bay Rays baseball game. We were ALL extremely pleased by the experience. The hostess sat us immediately. The food was fantastic and very tasty. The entertainment was fun and lively. The ambiance was wonderful. I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND this restaurant to any couple or family who would like to sample OUTSTANDING GERMAN food and culture. Given the current OKTOBERFEST celebrations, NOW would be a great time to pay a visit. You definitely will be VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!!
Great fun! I've lived in both the US and Germany. This was an authentic and try accessible experience. What fun! The noise and acts and smiles and enthusiasm made it real. My wife and daughter were thrilled and laughed, to the accordions, contests, dancing, and even the german spanking tradition! Octoberfest is a package deal, as are ALL traditional events. A great Octoberfest showcases the wonderful German ability to poke fun of itself, with all of its songs, silliness, merriness, and occasional hints of bawdiness. Hofbrauhaus pulled it off wonderfully. We'll be back with friends.
We've been here many times before but it seems to have gone downhill. We made a reservation 5 days in advance for 9 people. Arrive 3 minutes before our reservation time and were told we'd have to wait. Passed many empty tables to be seated half an hour later in a back corner where no AC was working. We were at the restaurant a full 40 minutes before we could even order a beer. I spoke with the manager, who asked for my information and said he'd get in touch to "make it right" but he never did
Fun as a bar with good food
Tonight we came for the second night in a row. They had live music, German dancers, and they did a lot of interactive stuff with the guests! Again, the food was delicious, and the service was exemplary. I highly recommend going here!
Great authentic German food. Fun, lively and loud . A great place for couples, families and singles.
The atmosphere is very upbeat and the food is amazing. We had the Large Pretzel Combo and the Weisswürste. Both were absolutely delicious. We then had Schnitzel Wiener Art, and for dessert we had Apple Streusel, both were awesome! We were there on a Friday night, and there was live music, and the musicians were VERY interactive with all of the guests. I highly recommend making plans to go here, it was well worth our 7 hour trip to go.
We went on a Thursday evening just after opening. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had to send back my order due to the wrong meat! It was taken care of right away and I was checked on twice! Food is very good but the loud music was very distracting. If you like the open music hall kind of feel this is for you!
Everything was great, except our table was crammed in a corner, hot, and hard to see what was happening. We had a reservation, asked for one of the tables in the open area. Told it was reserved for a big party…that was coming in 2.5 hours later!
Enjoyed Octoberfest !! Food was great and enjoyed. Had beer and wine also.
The band was too loud for me.
Wow! Crazy and wild beer party every day with live German and mixed music request. Lively and LOUD to say the least. Recommend the schnitzel of any kind with gravy or plain. The pickled cucumber salad and the wurst platter as a nice meal. The beer is authentic Germany 🇩🇪 with a few seasonal options available throughout the year.
All of the workers we spoke to were very knowledgeable and courteous including the musicians. The food was exactly what I wanted and my friends salad was delicious.
I would try it again.
very goodness h
My family and I had a great time, we dined here for my birthday dinner. The food and service were excellent, the entertainment was good, but I felt like sometimes the performer was a bit pushy to get tips. Other than that it was perfect.
I used to love The Hofbrau house. The food and service is always great. I also like the band and went this last time to enjoy the food as well as the music and dancing. I have found that the band used to be included in the experience, but now I find that the band just walks around to get tips. Band used to play just to play and get people up and dancing but now they seem to go from table to table and they even show how much you should be tipping. It is uncomfortable as you feel obligated to tip each time they come to your table. They even asked our table ...”did we already get you?” Yes you did! I guess they only work for tips now. As much as I love the band... if they are going to assertively solicit tips, I would rather just have German music playing in the background.
The food quality and service has decreased steadily the last 3 times I have been there.
great food and beer. potato pancakes, pretzels, sausages, schnitzel were very tasty. music was fun to listen to, even busted out a long swiss horn...riccola!
This is a dining experience from the wandering musicians to the authentic food. The waitresses are in character and if you are up for it you can get a swot by a madchen with your shot!
The schnichiteles are very dry
We were looking so forward to visit the Hofbrauhaus during our vacation. We checked out the menu prior to our visit and the Schweine Haxen sounded wonderful. It was the biggest disappointment. There was a dark gravy all over the Schweinshaxen instead of being crispy on top like the menu promised. The Mac n cheese looked not appetizing at all. The server was barely courteous and it took an hour to get our food when the place was not even half full. Based on our experience, I will not visit your establishment in the near future.
If you're into beer this is not a bad place. The food is good but far from outstanding. We ordered the pretzel with sauces. We all found it overly salty. The others I was with all ordered some type of schnitzel and all enjoyed it. I had the bratwurst on a roll. It was good. The best part of our meal was the radish appetizer which we all loved. The service was fantastic. They were very accommodating and exceed our expectations. There was entertainment which I was not personally a fan of. It was German inspired music which was ok but I don't appreciate being solicited for tips while I'm trying to enjoy my meal.
Great call on the Women's World Cup watch party. The time we spent watching the USA Women win was fantastic, the staff was attentive and superb. Everyone had a great time and cannot wait to return again.
Very good food, great portions. I was able to have a full lunch the following day with my leftovers. Always enjoy the entertainment.
Great food and a great atmosphere. Had a great time!
Great food and bier
The food was absolutely delicious! Great beer with an authentic atmosphere.
Wonderful! The most authentic German restaurant we have found in Florida. Food was great, service was great-all around outstanding! We will definitely drive the hour and a half to visit again.
Had an absolutely wonderful time! The food was amazing, the entertainment was outstanding, and the beer was fantastic! I’ve been to 4 other Hofbrauhaus from the north (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Columbus, and Newport) and the amazing experience we had at St Petersburg’s Hofbrauhaus was the best out of any that I have been to. 5 stars!
Super fun place to enjoy a close, but not quite, German experience.
Per our daughter's request for her 21st birthday, we grubbed and watered at Hofbrauhaus! It was a fun experience for a special occasion considering their awesome liter beers! Food was good, everyone enjoyed their choices. Pretzel app was delicious! Beer was outstanding! Best part was the entertainment. We had a Germain man who played the accordian to a tee! And then he came out with an Alpenhorn and let the girls try it out. He also played Happy Birthday to our daughter (after giving him a couple tips but well worth it!). All in all, it was a great time, fun experience, kind of felt like being at Busch Gardens in their Germain restaurant area. I think once was enough though, although, I think we'd all go back to just sit at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere! Speaking of that, the decor is beautiful! Just to walk in there is a treat for the eyes!
The food, ambiance, and live performance were all absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately we had less than stellar service. The rest more than makes up for it and we'll visit again asap
Great value for food, just to loud, you can not have a conversation
Great authentic food! Owner and employees go out of their way to make your meal enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable and large portions.
Reminded me of when I spent great times at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich and sang the night away. We have been to every Hofbrauhaus open that we know of so far, Munich, Las Vegas and St Petersburg, FL. Fred was outstanding and we sang to tunes I had not sung in quite some time. Too bad I live in Tampa and the drive to enjoy such a locale is a bit far for us to travel on a frequent basis but we will try to head over again some time.
Great food and service. It was our first visit and we really enjoyed it.
