Hofbräuhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbräuhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

Good food and fun atmosphere. We had a reservation and the hostess couldn't find it at first, said there wasn't one then eventually found it. Then the seating hostess told us to follow her, then told us to wait for another seating hostess but ended up seating us herself anyway. I found the hostesses very unorganized

So few German restaurants around these days. A fun place to go with great food. However, cost of sides with no substitutions is a costly proposition. And I’m far from cheap!

Suprisingly delicious, large servings. Wonderful beer. Very friendly and attentive service, especially for a such a large place. The oopah band was delightful. The only issue was seating -- even though we had reservations and even though we arrived at a non-peak time (4pm) the less-than-friendly hostess tried to seat us at a table stuck in the back, away from the band. We pushed back and got a great table.

My 1st time at this restaurant by the Fashion Mall complex in Rosemont by hotels by O'Hare. Have been wanting to go since it opened. It's a large authentic German restaurant and micro brew. Really large. Was impressed that they has live German music on a Tuesday night. There happened to be a large charity fundraiser for Diabetes. When we arrived it was empty, but the time we left it was packed. Great german food and beer. Just like a beer hall in Munich. Highly recommend.

Competent German food in a lively setting. Please stop playing American oldies like Sweet Caroline and just stick with the German music that suits the atmosphere. Waitress was very good and was kind with my paddling for my shot.

The food didn’t taste like authentic jerman meals. The server was not very nice pushing us to pay and leave because he shift was over. I understand the situation but the tone was rude and she was annoyed by our questions about why mushed potatoes were cold. This is a bad American copy of real German restaurant environment

If you want a very loud, cafeteria style, bavarian food, you will like this place.

My family went to the Hofbrauhaus in Rosemont on Sunday, January 7, for dinner. We made reservations ahead of time and didn't need to wait. Our server, Karen, was outstanding! She explained the beers, the specials and the menu. She made suggestions on what we might like to order. We shared a huge pretzel as an appetizer. While we were waiting for our food, we enjoyed hearing the band and watching the kids do the "Chicken Dance"! The food was delicious and the portions were big enough that we each had leftovers to take home. The only drawback, was the fact that we were too full for dessert! So Karen suggested we take our desserts to go! Perfect idea!

The hostess wasn’t friendly and even we have a booed table took him 15 mins to find us a table . Then we waited around 30 mins without anyone to come and see us to order. I did ended call to the restaurant phone to ask if someone will come to take our order. We have been to this place at least 30 times in the past 2 years and always have a great service. Not sure what was changed lately but we got disappointed from the hostess

Had a reservation for 6 with a note that 2 would be showing up later for a total of 8. Apparently I missed a text in the planning, because there was a total of 10 of us. Luckily their beer hall style table and benches held all 10 of us, if maybe a little snug.

Services was prompt, empty beers were always quickly replaced with a new stein. Food portions were generous, and make for a second meal.

The band provided fun music and great entertainment, although the Ricola gag with the alphorn gets pretty old.

Overall it is exactly what I wanted. It's the German beer hall experience, with a taste of Oktoberfest that is certainly tamed down for the US suburban lifestyle.

Attended establishment for New Years and walked away satisfied. Really fun and great for groups. Our server was great. Be warned; if you order shots you will be spanked.

Fun and lively German Beer Haus environment, located in the active area of MB Financial Park. Great place to stop before or after the local movie theatre, comedy club, bowling/sports bar, or nearby casino.

Our appetizer and entree's were delivered within minutes of each other. As a result, our entree's were cold by the time we finished a very hot pretzel. Food was good, but not great. The Jagerschintzel was dry and had little flavor. We ordered a dessert and waited 15 minutes for it to be served. They were not overly busy and appeared to have plenty of staff, but our server just seemed to disappear. The duo performing were fun and provided the right beer hall entertainment.

Food was fabulous! Ambience was spectacular. Service start off great but after food was done it took 45 minutes to even find our waitress. We even asked a couple other people who worked there (busboy and bartender) to find out server. My boyfriend got me tickets to a show at all state arena for an 8:00 show. We got to Hofbrauhaus at 5:00. We were done eating by 6:00 and did not get our waitress/check until 6:45. 45 minutes is ridiculous and shows poor customer service, and our drinks sat empty for an hour so we didn’t even get to enjoy the full bar selections. By the time we got to our show we were 15 minutes late!!! So disappointing because I have been wanting to see this production for years!! We were rushed and could not have a full experience of what the show had to offer. My Christmas gift given to me did not go at all planned like my boyfriend would have liked. Even made tension between us as we sat in traffic because we wanted to be in road by 6:30 the latest not 7:00!! Would not recommend here if you have to be somewhere. Would recommend it for atmosphere, great food, beer, entertainment!

We are very upset about this reservation! We booked last minute for a nice Christmas dinner—only to arrive at the restaurant, and it be closed! We were waiting outside in the freezing temperatures with three babies... Only to have to get back in the car and not have dinner.

Our group visited at 8:30 on a Sunday night. There was live music and while this might be fun on a Friday or Saturday night it was too loud for conversation. The open room made it hard to find a quieter spot. Our waitress was excellent, however, and accommodated our request to move so it was a little easier to talk. The food was okay; I had the roasted chicken which was tasty but it was not hot when it arrived. The beef dishes looked very good and our party also had some of the vegetarian dishes, so it was a good thing they had those options. I'm no expert on German food but it appeared to be pretty authentic, so I would recommend it if you're into that sort of thing.
