Hodson's Bar and Grill - Southglenn Ratings and Reviews
While our dinner was fun from the standpoint of good company, our service and meal were lackluster. Our waitress could have been friendlier/more engaging, the Caesar salads had way too many grape tomatoes, and the walls surrounding our booth weren't very clean. In future visits I'll stick with wine.
My wife and I returned this past Saturday evening. I had requested a window table. When we arrived I made them aware that I had made a reservation via Open Table and had requested a window table. After checking her computer, they escorted us to a window table. Within a couple of minutes a very friendly server arrived. I inquired about the Street Tacos. She said they were delicious and that we should order different flavors.
The cocktails were fine, the tacos and the sausage flatbread pizza were delicious.
We will return!
This place is a true gem. The new chef is so creative and talented. The wine list is excellent, both from a variety point of view, as well as the prices. We had Sam as our server and he was fantastic - knowledgeable and friendly. This restaurant has come a long ways and we are excited for a new place to dine.
My wife and I had been in Hodsons about three years ago and were so disappointed that we never returned. Since we were going to a 7:30 movie and Hodsons was walking distance to the theater we figured why not give a second try.
To our delight, we were seated immediately. My wife asked to be moved to a window table and one of the hostesses relocated us. There was some confusion and it took a while for a server to show. She was very apologetic. The service from this young lady (Kacey) was excellent. Our drinks were tasty and delivered promptly. We were not rushed at all (a definite plus). We enjoyed our drinks then my wife ordered a Brussel Sprouts appetizer which she really enjoyed . We also ordered a flatbread pizza with no meat and it was so good that we ordered a second. The second was spicy sausage and peppers. Both were baked to perfection!
All in all it was a wonderful and unexpected experience. Much of the thanks must go to Kacey for her top shelf service. We will return.
*It pays to make reservations via Open Table. They staff knows that many of us will submit a review!
We had a very bad experience! We took out of town friends and were embarrassed by the service and food. I reserved a table for five in the window which I was assured I could have. Another party had the table when I arrived for my reservation. The Cesar salad had no dressing on it at all, and was just a bowl of lettuce. There was an apparent flood in the kitchen so we could not have the cocktails we ordered. We have been there several times, and never had such a horrible experience!
This was our first time at Hodson's, and we enjoyed the evening. We were seated right away, got to trial one of the wines, and were served quickly. The food was really tasty, and served at the right temperature. Our server was friendly and helpful. Will definitely return. Would have been nice to sit outside, but it was a bit too windy.
We started coming back to Hodson's recently, this was our third visit since. The first 2 were good, the new menu and management had appeared to redeem the restaurant. This time, our wait for our food was about an hour. The most frustrating part was that our server Candice ignored us, we had to flag her down a couple of times to get updates. She would tell us everyone ordered at once so the kitchen was inundated. So it's our fault?? After our dinner was delivered she finally apologized and said that the manager had comped our drinks but the damage was already done. She told us this tends to happen on Fridays, shouldn't you staff for that? Waiting an hour for our food without explanation made for an unpleasant evening. The food was good, but not worth an hour wait. With this experience, we'll probably stay away.
I am happy with Hodson's dining experience with a group of friends of 10. Food was good, our waiter Chris was wonderful. We asked for a quiet table and were pleasantly surprised we were seated at the back of a private room. Bathroom was nice and clean too. We will
for sure go back soon.
We had a large group. Our food was all good and was served promptly. I like the ambience both inside and in the patio. The waiter seemed charming at first and was attentive but eventually annoying, we all agreed. We told him up front that we had theater tickets and hoped to order shortly. He said "no problem" but then told stories about where he grew up and his sisters. When someone asked what he recommended, he mentioned not 2-3 items but probably 10 in great detail while we thought, "Stop! We need to order!" When we were finished, we took him up on his offer of 5 separate checks, but he returned chiding us that we should've told him upfront and warned if we ever return in a group, most of their waitstaff wouldn't be happy about doing that. (?!?!) He put a bit of a spoiler onto a nice meal. I'll go back anyway, I really like the restaurant and menu.
Hodsons has good food. I've been here a few times and most of the time I've been very satisfied with the food, but not all the time. When I didn't like the food it wasn't a kitchen or restaurant issue however, I just simply ended up ordering something I personally didn't care for. That is not to say others may enjoy those meals. This last time I went the service was very fast, which was awesome. The price is a little on the high side. Overall I would recommend Hodsons.
We have been to Hobson's before and have really liked it. Saturday, I tried 2 meals and both were not good. The risotto was awful , the taste and presentation! I sent it back and tried the steak ravioli, tried one and didn't eat the rest, they were dry and favorless. It was very disappointing. We will not be returning. I emailed the restaurant and have had no response.
Hodsons Bar and Grill is a nice neighborhood corner place in Southglen. It has a large central bar surrounded by booths and tables. The noise level is quiet which allows for good conversation and the menu offers both full meals and small plates which were fantastic. We tried a couple of the flatbread small plates with drinks and were filled.
The food was good, but wasn't to specifications of the order. They took the plate back and brought it out with the correct wrap. The service was reasonable. I don't think we received points for using open table even though we had an Open Table Reservation for the evening this past Monday.
Good food. Best of the Southglenn restaurants to meet another couple for conversation and a nice meal and dressier atmosphere. Patio is nice too. Service was a little slow and food pricier than I remembered but they do put a nice coupon in a local magazine for BOGO.
We had three different salads. Each was absolutely exquisite in heir own right. The salmon and steak were grilled to perfection. The dressings were perfectly paired and superb. The ambiance out on the patio was a wonderful setting to kick off the summer and the service with a wonderful warm waiter topped it all off perfectly. Would definitely recommend to one and all.
Server was attentive. Quiet booth that helped those hard of hearing to hear one another. Good morning as a disappointment. Ordet d burger med rare. Came with 1/2 of burger well done (burnt) and other half headed toward well done. Avocado on burger had multiple bad spots on it and the lettuce, tomato and pickles were dehydrated and wilted. Salmon club and salad were ok. Salmon was delicious but the greens also were old and wilted. BBQ ribs were the hit of the night. For dessert we ordered the gelato dessert that was advertised to include berries and cookies. We got one small scoop of gelato in a dish. Pretty expensive scoop of gelato. Stick to drinks and appetizers but if you want dinner, might try somewhere else.
The environment was great! The live music was amazing! The price was a little high for the amount of food and quality of food that you received. I was also overcharged by $4 for my glass of wine, honest mistake. I was expecting more for the price. I had a gluten free option and the risotto wasn't quite cooked all the way through and I asked for well done and my steak was medium. Just attention to a few details would have made the experience a little more worth the money. I would also love to see more options on the menu...nothing really stuck out as, "I really want to have that!"
Service wasn't good. We were seated then it took awhile to have our order taken. We ordered a bottle of wine and another bottle of wine was brought to us vs. what we ordered without any explanation accept that it was new. We ordered an appetizer, dinner was brought before the appetizer since the appetizer wasn't put in with the order. To make up for it, they were going to comp dessert. However, there are no Gluten Free options for dessert. To not have any gluten free dessert in this day and age, didn't help the overall issues we had that night. The Risotto was good but the filet tips weren't worth $18 as they were pretty small and completely overpriced. I live near Hodson's and have dined their prior as they have a great patio. Overall, this was just fair. I'll likely try it again but if it's fair again, that will be the last.
