Butter basted crab, wilted spinach and arugula, poached eggs, hollandaise, toasted English muffin, breakfast potatoes
Our server Alan was friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. It was a wonderful dinner.
The food was excellent, the setting was pleasant and elegant, and the service was great.
Fantastic food in a very nice room. Quite and lovely. Will be back.
Made reservations for four of us. I was looking forward to having my brother and his wife going to Hob Nob as they had never been before. Overall okay, except all the other tables had candles and we did not, I asked our waiter if he could bring us a candle, we waited patiently for 20 minutes then I asked him again, waited another 15 minutes and asked again, my husband at this point was getting very annoyed. Finally, after 40 minutes we received a candle. We all ordered an appetizer, and asked for more bread, that took a while, but what was surprising was they ran out of whipped butter, and brought us butter in those small plastic containers like the ones you get with your McDonald’s pancakes. Why not take the butter out of the containers and put them in a bowl, for a better presentation. To top it off, my husband and I ordered specialty coffees and when they arrived, I asked where is the whipped cream topping? The waiter said that they ran out of whipped cream. This is an expensive restaurant, which is part of the Pillar and Post, Prince of Wales corporation and they ran out of whipped cream. Who is responsible for this?? Also, the waiter should have told us that he could not make the specialty coffees as they did not have all of the ingredients. Very disappointed. For those of you who think these are minor annoyances we do not. When you make reservations at a restaurant in this price point you are expecting a higher quality dining experience, which this was not. I know going forward my brother and his wife will not be recommending Hon Nob and the same with my husband and I.
Absolutely delicious food! Tomato soup was one of the best I’ve ever had (wish I could get the recipe). Al was a great waiter. Ambience was lovely for a special milestone meal.
Highly recommended. My wife and I return here often. This night we were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. Would have booked a room, as we've done previously, but The Charles was fully booked this time.
Service was prompt and courteous. Food was well prepared. Ambiance was comfortable. Over all a nice experience.
We were disappointed by the quality of the food. It was an expensive meal and we sent back the soup which was over salted and seemed to have been sitting and condensing for hours. They did take it off the bill and offer free dessert. Someone in our group ordered a salad that was also of poor quality, ( basically could have been out of a premade bag). We would not go back.
A wonderful dining experience. The food was excellent and the service was perfect.
My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. So we thought we would give Hobnob a try. We were not disappointed and so glad we did. Our waiter Al greeted us with a complementary glass of bubbly and thanked us for choosing them for our special occasion. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet , relaxing or intimate dinner as it has a wonderful atmosphere. Thx for the memories.
First time at the restaurant. Pretty limited menu but the food was tasty.
Very nice restaurant and service excellent I recommend it to everyone
Amazing food not limited menu options. Great ambiance but the restaurant/building is a bit run down.
Roast chicken should have a rich chicken flavour, crispy skin and rich jus.
It was a lacklustre bland dish… blindfolded, I wouldn’t have known I was eating chicken.
Service good, nice ambiance, but the food doesn’t match the pretentious reputation.
We had a very nice meal and the service was great. They also have a good wine list.
Quiet ambiance. Food was good but not great. Felt more like eating at home with a server than at a restaurant.
Having been here several years ago, I was excited to come back. Sadly my most recent experience was nothing compared to my previous dining experience. We came for a late breakfast. Guests were checking out of the hotel so things were a little backed up... no problem. Nice we were finally seated out in the indoor veranda, there we sat, and sat, and sat. After 20 minutes with no other sign of life we went looking for waitstaff. Apologies were given, they didn’t even know we were out there. Someone would be right with us! Another 7 minutes later they came to check if our order had been taken..NO! Still hadn’t even been offered water or coffee. Once we were able to actually order our food and get some coffee, it was quite a disappointment. French press coffee looked more like a strong tea and had little coffee flavor. Breakfast, which was an order of French toast and an omelet was just average at best.
I understand things are difficult due to COVID restrictions and finding staff, however there are still ways to provide a positive, memorable experience. I do hope that you are able to get back to the level of service and quality you once had, just not sure I’ll be there to see it.
Best breakfast of the whole week in NOTL! The Crab Benedict was absolutely superb. My dining companions raved about their meals as well (omelette and bacon/eggs). The potatoes and pancakes were also perfectly done. Excellent service and lovely ambiance as well. Can’t wait to return.
A lovely evening with my gorgeous lady and we were well cared for
Excellent time at Hobnob. Food was fantastic and the service was top notch. Definite re-attendance in the works.
Let’s just the it’s was fantastic.. will recommend to everyone!!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
No air conditioning and made for a miserable experience. Def did not feel like fine dining. Wouldn’t go back
Exceptionally good food and service. Nicely appointed. Beautiful gardens and intimate outdoor seating. Free parking on site. Would definitely go again
Excellent food. Excellent service. A bit pricey but great for an occasion meal. Would recommend and return.
Very limited menu
I went last night for dinner with the boyfriend at HOBNOB restaurant. It’s set in a beautiful location, beside the golf course and lake. Polite and warm reception. All indications seemed promising a lovely meal ahead. Unfortunately we chose to eat inside and it was soooo hot 🥵 They said they couldn’t lower the temperature. I improvised and made a fan out of a menu. The restaurant sets AC to 78-79 degrees F. The red wine, being kept in such a warm place, was verging on tea. The service was lukewarm - not welcoming, not rude - just disinterested. Food was meh.. steak was good, came with a big plate of fries with not much in way of presentation. I don’t expect fries with a steak at a fancy restaurant. Pasta was presented beautifully with tasty basil, the noodles were yummy and seemed homemade, the sauce was so salty it ruined the whole dish for me. All in all, not a great experience or one I would seek to recreate any time soon.
Food was delicious! The flavour of the Beef Tenderloin was extraordinary! The chocolate creme brûlée was an excellent, and delectable way to top off a fantastic dining experience. Ambience was great, with seat on the patio overlooking beautiful garden and golf course. Would gladly eat there again and plan on it!
The covered balcony overlooking the manicured gardens was a beautiful place to enjoy a delicious meal with family.
We were so excited to be back at HOBNOB after the property being closed for a couple of years. The home is gorgeous. Such personality. Unfortunately we found we were disappointed.
First upon entry we stood fir a few minutes with no one welcoming us. Next, the host called to us a greeting, from the middle of the house where the “front desk” is located.
We were a little taken aback with that right off the back.
We were walked to our table through the front dining room where there were mostly filled tables. We could see the beautiful veranda seating tables, looked beautiful but we preferred to sit inside. It had been 5 years to the date exactly, that we’d had a fabulous dinner at HOBNOB.
We were seated in the back dining room. There was only one other couple in that room. There was nothing to look at and no music. So to ambiance, that must be improved.
The cocktails came fast. The complimentary champagne came immediately once our server heard it was our anniversary. Lovely touch. Unfortunately the salads came so quickly that we couldn’t finish our cocktails.
My first choice of wine was gone. The salt and pepper was paper packets. It would have been essential in a restaurant thus scale, to have a pepper grinder and nice salts.
The special beet salad was delicious as was the torn lettuce salad. The white fish special was outstanding.
The beef delicious and perfectly cooked.
Unfortunately the wait between courses was extensive - far too long. How to improve? Greet guests face to face. Add ambient music. Put Art on walls in rear dining room. Pull tables out from wall. Offer pepper grinder. Allow guests to finish cocktails before bringing meal service. Improve timing of main course.
Server was great. Thank you for being back!! Time will have HOBNOB up at back at it soon.
The chef of this restaurant has his act together. Shared beet salad - lovely. Beef and trout dinners - both perfectly cooked with excellent and interesting flavouring and sides. A chocolate Creme Brulee which resurrected a tired desert into a fantastic finale. Excellent ambience and service. All around an excellent birthday evening.
It was a beautiful restaurant. The service was amazing. The value was not there. Very expensive for what you get. $46 for a tenderloin and fries.
Excellent food - Trout and Sablefish was outstanding. Liked our server but the food took a long time to come out.
1. Ample free parking
2. Food, beverages and service were great.
3. Food taste and presentation was top notch. We both had the white fish special of the date - superb!!
4. Menu selection was limited but judging by the white fish special of the day, each entree menu item would be spectacular.
5. Not rushed to eat or leave.
6. Nice sunny day on the veranda table with comfortable temperature and cool breeze.
Beautiful spot for brunch outside on the porch. The eggs Benedict were delicious, but could have been cooked a bit more (medium) A bit on the expensive side but a treat.
French press coffee was also a nice touch.
We will return.
We loved our night at the HOBNOB! Went to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and they did not disappoint. Service was incredible - food incredible - ambiance incredible. I also felt the value/price to be totally on point. Will go again when in the area no question. Amazing job everyone!!
It was a very good experience . The hobnob is an excellent restaurant with great service. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant .
Absolute top notch dining experience. The service was outstanding & the food spectacular. We will be back as soon as we can !
Dined outdoor for dinner. Mussels were the best I probably ever had… only thing is is that they took long to bring the bread.. we even had to ask for it for the mussels. They said it came fresh out the oven but who knows, seemed like they forgot since they didn’t tell us this upfront. Main course was the trout - was very good, seasoned very well. The dessert was delicious (chocolate tart) not too sweet. There were mosquitos coming out as we were leaving so just beware!
Brunch outside on terrace was lovely
