Butter basted crab, wilted spinach and arugula, poached eggs, hollandaise, toasted English muffin, breakfast potatoes
My daughter absolutely loved everything about our meal at HobNob. Truly a might to remember.
Just lovely. Still perfect after 10 years of dining here for our anniversary.
If you position yourself as upscale restaurant, and serving $85 set dinner, you should not serve cheap tea bags.
Soup supposed to be liquid. My butternut squash soup was s purée of pumpkin pie consistency. Not nice.
Prime rib was great!
We were staying at the Charles Inn and reserved for Christmas dinner in house. We had turkey dinner the night before at Zee's which was excellent so we went for the Prime Rib also on the menu. The service was excellent and our waiter Darren was friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful and we felt we had a very special dinner. Yes, it is a bit pricey but for special occasions and celebrations, it is well worth it.
Great restaurant, impeccable service and a memorable dining experience!
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Noise was moderate but only for a while as a wedding party waited to be seated for their meal. The noise didn’t bother us at all, in fact we were there celebrating our 30th anniversary and the setting was almost identical to our reception 30 years ago in western NY.
It was wonderful!
Delightful dining in the elegance of Christmas - dinner was excellent and tasty. Non appitite!!!
Delicious food and outstanding service. Shout out to Al who was a wonderful server. Not so sure about the value as I was served extremely small portions so I was hungry after dinner.
We enjoyed our stay and the food was very good. Ambience is lovely. A beautiful old hotel. The dining room decor with it’s 2 fireplaces is wonderful. Service was outstanding.
Everything was great once we found out hobnob was located at Charles inn
Outstanding! We’ve dined here about a half a dozen times and have not yet been disappointed with anything. The food is exquisite! Definitely one of the best places for fine dining in the Niagara area.
I really like this restaurant but the food does not live up to the prices charged. With respect to the question below I would recommend it to my friends but also let them know my feelings with respect to food and prices charged.
Wonderful elegant brunch to start our gals weekend.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance.
Very limited dinner menu, no appetizer options. Bar did not have two popular liquors for drinks, they claimed shortage of certain alcohol at LCBO.
Staff, ambience and food always great! Thank you.
Food was excellent service was great. Are server was knowledgeable. We will go back again.
Anniversary; free sparkling to toast
The food was tasty and good, just not worth the price point. I would not go back for that, even though the ambiance and the service was excellent.
What a great restaurant. Really nice decor, fantastic food and wine!
Can’t wait to visit again.
Menu Item descriptions not the same as what is being served, very overpriced for the quality being served. $14 for the same salad MC’ds served with designer mixed greens basic dressing is anything but local and seasonal. Spaghettini pasta was prepared with spaghetti that tasted like it was cooked a few days ago with one scallop sliced in two and 2 shrimp was a joke. The food grad described as a pave is in fact a piece of four pan sautéed served with strawberry sauce and pieces of fresh strawberry and blackberry local food for sure in November. Overall with dinner for 2 at $350 with a $70 bottle of wine not worth the experience, go to a local dinner and save your money, I know the food will be better
Our server Alan was friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. It was a wonderful dinner.
The food was excellent, the setting was pleasant and elegant, and the service was great.
Fantastic food in a very nice room. Quite and lovely. Will be back.
Made reservations for four of us. I was looking forward to having my brother and his wife going to Hob Nob as they had never been before. Overall okay, except all the other tables had candles and we did not, I asked our waiter if he could bring us a candle, we waited patiently for 20 minutes then I asked him again, waited another 15 minutes and asked again, my husband at this point was getting very annoyed. Finally, after 40 minutes we received a candle. We all ordered an appetizer, and asked for more bread, that took a while, but what was surprising was they ran out of whipped butter, and brought us butter in those small plastic containers like the ones you get with your McDonald’s pancakes. Why not take the butter out of the containers and put them in a bowl, for a better presentation. To top it off, my husband and I ordered specialty coffees and when they arrived, I asked where is the whipped cream topping? The waiter said that they ran out of whipped cream. This is an expensive restaurant, which is part of the Pillar and Post, Prince of Wales corporation and they ran out of whipped cream. Who is responsible for this?? Also, the waiter should have told us that he could not make the specialty coffees as they did not have all of the ingredients. Very disappointed. For those of you who think these are minor annoyances we do not. When you make reservations at a restaurant in this price point you are expecting a higher quality dining experience, which this was not. I know going forward my brother and his wife will not be recommending Hon Nob and the same with my husband and I.
Absolutely delicious food! Tomato soup was one of the best I’ve ever had (wish I could get the recipe). Al was a great waiter. Ambience was lovely for a special milestone meal.
Highly recommended. My wife and I return here often. This night we were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. Would have booked a room, as we've done previously, but The Charles was fully booked this time.
Service was prompt and courteous. Food was well prepared. Ambiance was comfortable. Over all a nice experience.
We were disappointed by the quality of the food. It was an expensive meal and we sent back the soup which was over salted and seemed to have been sitting and condensing for hours. They did take it off the bill and offer free dessert. Someone in our group ordered a salad that was also of poor quality, ( basically could have been out of a premade bag). We would not go back.
A wonderful dining experience. The food was excellent and the service was perfect.
My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. So we thought we would give Hobnob a try. We were not disappointed and so glad we did. Our waiter Al greeted us with a complementary glass of bubbly and thanked us for choosing them for our special occasion. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet , relaxing or intimate dinner as it has a wonderful atmosphere. Thx for the memories.
First time at the restaurant. Pretty limited menu but the food was tasty.
Very nice restaurant and service excellent I recommend it to everyone
Amazing food not limited menu options. Great ambiance but the restaurant/building is a bit run down.
Roast chicken should have a rich chicken flavour, crispy skin and rich jus.
It was a lacklustre bland dish… blindfolded, I wouldn’t have known I was eating chicken.
Service good, nice ambiance, but the food doesn’t match the pretentious reputation.
We had a very nice meal and the service was great. They also have a good wine list.
Quiet ambiance. Food was good but not great. Felt more like eating at home with a server than at a restaurant.
Having been here several years ago, I was excited to come back. Sadly my most recent experience was nothing compared to my previous dining experience. We came for a late breakfast. Guests were checking out of the hotel so things were a little backed up... no problem. Nice we were finally seated out in the indoor veranda, there we sat, and sat, and sat. After 20 minutes with no other sign of life we went looking for waitstaff. Apologies were given, they didn’t even know we were out there. Someone would be right with us! Another 7 minutes later they came to check if our order had been taken..NO! Still hadn’t even been offered water or coffee. Once we were able to actually order our food and get some coffee, it was quite a disappointment. French press coffee looked more like a strong tea and had little coffee flavor. Breakfast, which was an order of French toast and an omelet was just average at best.
I understand things are difficult due to COVID restrictions and finding staff, however there are still ways to provide a positive, memorable experience. I do hope that you are able to get back to the level of service and quality you once had, just not sure I’ll be there to see it.
Best breakfast of the whole week in NOTL! The Crab Benedict was absolutely superb. My dining companions raved about their meals as well (omelette and bacon/eggs). The potatoes and pancakes were also perfectly done. Excellent service and lovely ambiance as well. Can’t wait to return.
