Niagara-on-the-Lake is famous for its historic architecture, golf courses, and culinary prowess, so why not combine these into one wonderful experience? The HobNob Restaurant & Wine Bar is found in a beautifully restored 1832 manor house that overlooks the renowned Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. The name of the game at HobNob is laidback, yet exquisite indulgence. Emphasizing the best ingredients – many from local farms – HobNob's menu provides temptations from start to finish, front to back.
Our CAA/AAA Four-Diamond rated dining room pampers breakfast, lunch and dinner guests seven days a week. A special day can be topped off with drinks and appetizers or desserts on our veranda — the perfect finisher to a day spent hitting the links or shopping the main street.
This restaurant is in a beautiful mansion. We were welcomed warmly. The wine selection was great and the food was delicious and well made. We would definitely go back.
Ambience first-rate. Love white table cloths and table linen. Lovely arrangement of tables so that you don't feel close to anybody. Outstanding food, but certainly on the expensive side. Service could not be beaten. Just one thing, however, which I bet happens once in a million times. After paying our bill, servers disappeared. We had to find our coats in a back room and silently steal out the door on our own.
Delicious food and friendly service. We visit every time we are in Naples and everyone is so welcoming and more than accommodating
We strongly recommend HobNob for any and every occasion.
Very impressed with the restaurant and our waiter we loved our dinner and our time there. We have already recommended the restaurant to our friends and co workers
We went to Hob Nob for Fabulicious... and it was “fabulous!” We were seated by one of the two fireplaces in the room where we ate - which was much appreciated after coming in from the cold and very windy outdoors. We had an early start to dinner so it was quiet... and lovely. Even after other diners were seated, we could still have an easy conversation. The ambience was very peaceful and calm, and our server was lovely... happy , personable and professional. My salmon was excellent and my husband’s steak was thick and juicy... just the way he likes it. We noticed that they had an adjoining room with a table that would seat about 12 people (or more) if you wanted to dine with a larger group. The period features also added to the ambience. All in all, a very delightful and delicious dining experience. 🤗 We would go back. 👍
The food and service was outstanding. Would definitely return and recommend Hobnob to others.
New chef with fabulous food. Alan was a fantastic server
We had an excellent time. The food was skillfully prepared . The service was attentive. It is a very good restaurant and it is highly recommended.
What we ordered and what we recieved were very different. They need to update their menu!
I ordered the lobster bourride. Just before it came out the waiter let me know they would not include the normal claw garnish but would include an extra scallop which I said was fine. When it arrived, there was no lobster at all. The price was not reduced even though the dish was not the same at all. My wife ordered the salmon. Hers was indeed salmon, but none of the accompaniment was per the menu!
The food was good, but the experience was that of being taken for a ride. Not good enough.
The food was hugely disappointing. The complimentary amuse bouche was a spoonful of couscous with an overpowering quantity of red onion. We were celebrating our anniversary and new Year so we both splashed out on the expensive lobster dish ($44 each). Big mistake. The sauce was an insipid bisque. Submerged within it and buried under a mixture of flacid veg and less than fresh scallops and mussels were a few morsels of lobster which had the appearance of being half chewed. The dark chocolate creme brulee dessert was no better being more like a cold chocolate flavoured mousse than a warm and indulgent custard. The only upside was the glass of sparkling wine we were greeted with.
New Year’s Eve dinner - overall 5-star experience: food, romantic setting, and service by Trevor!
We had a great meal and service was 5 star
Would definetly come back
Pleasant environment. Excellent service. seated us even though our reservation was not received through you. Food was outstanding.
This was a date night for my wife and I. It was very romantic spot. Great service & Quality. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We enjoyed Christmas dinner here last year, so I was excited to return again. This year was so busy, our server was frazzled and unknowledgeable about the wine selection. One of us ordered a steak done medium. It arrived super rare. She asked that it go back to the kitchen. The server returned with a different cut of meat entirely, smaller and less nice. She said the chef was confident it would be better. It was cold and just as raw. We sent it back and asked for the original cut of meat to be returned. Instead, we got the inferior cut of meat back, still pretty raw. We stopped trying at that point.
We had Christmas dinner at Hob Nob. They had a special prix fixe menu for the holiday. Instead of roast turkey breast, they served a dry turkey roulade. Serving size was very small (see picture). The butternut squash soup was very good. Dessert was a spice cake that was so dry, that if not for the creme anglaise it was served in it would have been near to impossible to get down. Service was very slow. We were expecting more. I had heard very good things about this restaurant so was very disappointed. Perhaps it is better when it’s not a holiday and thus less busy.
Overall was good, things not good were, dessert, stale, dry was suppose to be a warm spice cake nothing warm about it sent it back, what we got was still no better.
Server was okay.
My steak was delicious, however would have preferred a different root vegetable. Got mash and parsnip both boring colors. Both starch food too.
Was it value for money, mm not really other then the steak
The Christmas turkey dinner was horrible.. especially at $65.00. It was a pre-made slice of turkey roll.
Wonderful place to dine and enjoy warm surroundings. The food and service are excellent; you’ll be back no question!
Quite with the most perfect atmosphere!!
The food was delicious the service was great - highly recommend
Limited menu if you don't eat meat however the hors d'oeuvre of Salad Nicoise was amazing! Would eat that for my main course if it were available. Speaking of main course my Gnocci was very sad, have made better myself sadly. My husband had a great steak though.
Wait staff were great.
Nice presentation of plates.
My favourite restaurant in niagara . Just celebrated our 51 st wedding anniversary. Great food iand service in a cozy setting, we love it.
Tasting menu with wine pairing was sublime. Each course was to die for and the wine to pair with it was exquisite. Alan our server was very good and did a great job of explaining the wine. As a sommelier, he was fantastic and did a wonderful job.
Nice bubbling provided in recognition of our anniversary. Food was excellent. Service was good but server seemed rushed when interacting with us. Took my husband’s order for desert and started to rush away without asking if I wanted something. Had to call him back to place my order.
Tables are very close together and the people at the table next to us had very loud conversations so this impacted our visit for a romantic evening. Nice old historic setting.
My friend and I went in November which I guess is off-season. I say it was quiet because there were only 2 tables occupied, including ours. I don't know what the noise level would be otherwise.
The food was very tasty. They are between chefs at the moment, so I say the sous-chefs did a great job considering. This was disappointing for me as I was looking forward to tasting the featured chef's culinary expertise, but although featured, he was not there.
Service was ok. We heard the waiter for the other table explaining every single detail on the plates. I wish our waitress had done that.
The place is lovely, and was tastefully decorated for the Christmas season.
We did have a bit of a chuckle. I tried to get a 7pm seating on Open Table, and it said it was full.
Birthday with sparking, wine on the house. Jelly recommend.
A beautiful setting. Although the food was beautifully presented, it was not exceptional. The fish was overcooked even with the unusual question from the server of how we would like it done. The beet flavoured couscous was inventive but lacked interest. The cauliflower was also unusual, but not particularly tasty. The dessert was also disappointing.
However, the cost was low being part of Fabulicious, but we were expecting to pay more and get higher quality.
Our server Alan was amazing, knowledgeable and attentive. We decided on the tasting menu with wine pairings, it was well worth it. The food was excellent, I’m still thinking about the gnocchi! We’ll be back.
Our server Nikki was fantastic. Very sweet and efficient. She helped us with wine, and in a group with a few picky people she dealt with a guest that wanted to return a bottle. Much appreciated! The food was on a special fabulicious 2-course menu and was incredible value. Salmon was cooked excellently and not over-done. The burger and dessert items were also great.
The restaurant is not too loud and well-decorated with a style that fits Niagara on the Lake but also is fresh and maintained.
Highly recommend it!
VERY disappointing service - we waited over an hour for our mains (ordered from a prix fixe menu, mind you). The exterior of the burger patty was fully burnt (likely from rushing after we reminded them we had been waiting 50+ minutes after ordering). There was barely an apology and the wait-staff didn't bother to offer fresh pepper or second glasses of wine (we also had to walk up to the maître d' to ask for refills on our water since our waiter seemed to have forgotten us by the time dessert was served). We had booked the reservation on Open Table with a note that we were celebrating a birthday - this was not acknowledged, though in any case I doubt it would have changed the quality of service. Overall, this meal soured an otherwise fine day in the region. I regret not taking previous negative reviews into account when deciding on this restaurant. Clearly the restaurant does not live up to the class it advertises or its pricing would suggest.
We ordered off Fabuliscious menu. Food was fair, service was poor. We never had our water refilled ,some side items on menu seemed to have been substituted and we were not made aware. We were given big soup spoons for our dessert. I got the sense that because we ordered off the Fabuliscious menu and didn’t order any alcohol we weren’t treated as well as others. Our server seemed too busy for us and focused on tables with bigger parties. I would not come here again.
Good food, good presentation. Service good , however we mentioned a special birthday and it was forgotten.
Excellent service by Allan and the food was delicious!
From the complimentary glasses of bubbly (it was our anniversary) and the amuse-bouche, to the terrific entrees and desert, our meals were outstanding. Chicken roulade and beef tenderloin both done to perfection. Both our server and the kitchen were most accommodating of an allergy request, and our server was spot-on in her descriptions of offerings and what we were being served. Many good places to eat in Niagara-on-the-lake, but highly recommend HobNob whether or not you are a guest of the inn.
Had a fantastic meal at Hobnob. Top notch service and food quality.
Had the tasting menu.
It’s was fantastic and the service was great
We had an excellent experience. The quality of food and service were excellent. Jill is a very friendly and capable server. We will definitely return to the Hobnob Restaurant .
The HOBNOB Restaurant was truly amazing. The food was beautiful and delicious. The ambience set the mood for celebrating our anniversary and made it special. Our server Jill, was a true gem. She made us feel like we were the only couple in the room on our special night. Thank you.
I was impressed. Service was exemplary, Jill knew the wine list and local vineyards well. From start to finish it was very good. Though no fault of the establishment, I wish female patrons wouldn't douse themselves in cheap "perfume". One thing I would do, is close the door between the dining room and the bar across the hallway. The noisey customers disturbs the quiet elegance of the dining room.
There was broken glass in front of the fireplace and unfortunately a table blocking it. Such a lovely focal point in the room.
Berkshire pork belly cured 24 hours in maple syrup and a perfectly cooked and translucent diver scallop. Served with a sparkling from nearby St. David, Ravine Charmat.
Sesame crusted just seared Ahi tuna atop a ginger fennel salad. Lovely but, really could have used some Fleur de sel. Paired it with a not too fruity 2017 Foreign Affair Amarose from Jordan.
Beef cooked rare to bleu, as requested but, with only one lone little grilled shrimp. 3 was the number I was expecting or at least, one big honkin' prawn. Nicely cooked veg although quite a pile of it. Paired with an Organized Crime, Break In, Pinot Noir.
Vanilla rose creme Brulee with mixed fruits and of course, a glass of Inniskillen ice wine.
I'll go back for sure.
