Our wine list features the best that Niagara has to offer including a wonderful selection of ice wines to accompany that special dessert. During the warmer months, a candle lit dinner can be enjoyed on the side verandah which overlooks the gardens as well as North America's oldest golf course.
After dinner, guests are welcome to enjoy a glass of port or ice wine or perhaps a specialty coffee in the adjoining lounge or sit on the verandah to enjoy the evening sky.
The dining room is open seven days a week.
Dinner: Sunday - Thursday from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Dinner: Friday & Saturday 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Nice presentation of plates.
My favourite restaurant in niagara . Just celebrated our 51 st wedding anniversary. Great food iand service in a cozy setting, we love it.
Tasting menu with wine pairing was sublime. Each course was to die for and the wine to pair with it was exquisite. Alan our server was very good and did a great job of explaining the wine. As a sommelier, he was fantastic and did a wonderful job.
Nice bubbling provided in recognition of our anniversary. Food was excellent. Service was good but server seemed rushed when interacting with us. Took my husband’s order for desert and started to rush away without asking if I wanted something. Had to call him back to place my order.
Tables are very close together and the people at the table next to us had very loud conversations so this impacted our visit for a romantic evening. Nice old historic setting.
My friend and I went in November which I guess is off-season. I say it was quiet because there were only 2 tables occupied, including ours. I don't know what the noise level would be otherwise.
The food was very tasty. They are between chefs at the moment, so I say the sous-chefs did a great job considering. This was disappointing for me as I was looking forward to tasting the featured chef's culinary expertise, but although featured, he was not there.
Service was ok. We heard the waiter for the other table explaining every single detail on the plates. I wish our waitress had done that.
The place is lovely, and was tastefully decorated for the Christmas season.
We did have a bit of a chuckle. I tried to get a 7pm seating on Open Table, and it said it was full.
Birthday with sparking, wine on the house. Jelly recommend.
A beautiful setting. Although the food was beautifully presented, it was not exceptional. The fish was overcooked even with the unusual question from the server of how we would like it done. The beet flavoured couscous was inventive but lacked interest. The cauliflower was also unusual, but not particularly tasty. The dessert was also disappointing.
However, the cost was low being part of Fabulicious, but we were expecting to pay more and get higher quality.
Our server Alan was amazing, knowledgeable and attentive. We decided on the tasting menu with wine pairings, it was well worth it. The food was excellent, I’m still thinking about the gnocchi! We’ll be back.
Our server Nikki was fantastic. Very sweet and efficient. She helped us with wine, and in a group with a few picky people she dealt with a guest that wanted to return a bottle. Much appreciated! The food was on a special fabulicious 2-course menu and was incredible value. Salmon was cooked excellently and not over-done. The burger and dessert items were also great.
The restaurant is not too loud and well-decorated with a style that fits Niagara on the Lake but also is fresh and maintained.
Highly recommend it!
VERY disappointing service - we waited over an hour for our mains (ordered from a prix fixe menu, mind you). The exterior of the burger patty was fully burnt (likely from rushing after we reminded them we had been waiting 50+ minutes after ordering). There was barely an apology and the wait-staff didn't bother to offer fresh pepper or second glasses of wine (we also had to walk up to the maître d' to ask for refills on our water since our waiter seemed to have forgotten us by the time dessert was served). We had booked the reservation on Open Table with a note that we were celebrating a birthday - this was not acknowledged, though in any case I doubt it would have changed the quality of service. Overall, this meal soured an otherwise fine day in the region. I regret not taking previous negative reviews into account when deciding on this restaurant. Clearly the restaurant does not live up to the class it advertises or its pricing would suggest.
We ordered off Fabuliscious menu. Food was fair, service was poor. We never had our water refilled ,some side items on menu seemed to have been substituted and we were not made aware. We were given big soup spoons for our dessert. I got the sense that because we ordered off the Fabuliscious menu and didn’t order any alcohol we weren’t treated as well as others. Our server seemed too busy for us and focused on tables with bigger parties. I would not come here again.
Good food, good presentation. Service good , however we mentioned a special birthday and it was forgotten.
Excellent service by Allan and the food was delicious!
From the complimentary glasses of bubbly (it was our anniversary) and the amuse-bouche, to the terrific entrees and desert, our meals were outstanding. Chicken roulade and beef tenderloin both done to perfection. Both our server and the kitchen were most accommodating of an allergy request, and our server was spot-on in her descriptions of offerings and what we were being served. Many good places to eat in Niagara-on-the-lake, but highly recommend HobNob whether or not you are a guest of the inn.
Had a fantastic meal at Hobnob. Top notch service and food quality.
Had the tasting menu.
It’s was fantastic and the service was great
We had an excellent experience. The quality of food and service were excellent. Jill is a very friendly and capable server. We will definitely return to the Hobnob Restaurant .
The HOBNOB Restaurant was truly amazing. The food was beautiful and delicious. The ambience set the mood for celebrating our anniversary and made it special. Our server Jill, was a true gem. She made us feel like we were the only couple in the room on our special night. Thank you.
I was impressed. Service was exemplary, Jill knew the wine list and local vineyards well. From start to finish it was very good. Though no fault of the establishment, I wish female patrons wouldn't douse themselves in cheap "perfume". One thing I would do, is close the door between the dining room and the bar across the hallway. The noisey customers disturbs the quiet elegance of the dining room.
There was broken glass in front of the fireplace and unfortunately a table blocking it. Such a lovely focal point in the room.
Berkshire pork belly cured 24 hours in maple syrup and a perfectly cooked and translucent diver scallop. Served with a sparkling from nearby St. David, Ravine Charmat.
Sesame crusted just seared Ahi tuna atop a ginger fennel salad. Lovely but, really could have used some Fleur de sel. Paired it with a not too fruity 2017 Foreign Affair Amarose from Jordan.
Beef cooked rare to bleu, as requested but, with only one lone little grilled shrimp. 3 was the number I was expecting or at least, one big honkin' prawn. Nicely cooked veg although quite a pile of it. Paired with an Organized Crime, Break In, Pinot Noir.
Vanilla rose creme Brulee with mixed fruits and of course, a glass of Inniskillen ice wine.
I'll go back for sure.
We had very high expectations of this restaurant. We were greeted well, seated in a lovely dining room by the fireplace, our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered appetizers that were lovely, but were disappointed in our main entrees. My husband ate the Halibut and it was a very small serving with only 5 individual gnocchi on his plate, and a tiny bowl of mushrooms. No other vegetables. I ordered the Beef tenderloin with prawn, and it was actually only 1 prawn. And it wasn't an overly large prawn - had it been bigger I would not have a reason to complain. The tenderloin was tender, but lacked in flavour - my entire entree was lack lustre. Even the plating of my entree looked rather amateur, was not appealing. Our desserts were also very small, did not stand up to what we imagined nor expected based on the menu descriptions. I would say that given our experience, the portions and flavours did not match the value we paid. We were left disappointed. I am sad to be writing this review because we had a lovely weekend in the area and enjoyed many restaurants with lovely food. This being a higher end restaurant should have been better than it was.
Disappointed in being located in the porch with continual foot traffic. Ambience was not good. Waiter was attentive but our Bill was wrong as we Booked through the Harbour House at a Set rate
We had a nice lunch. Food took a while but waitress has advised us ahead about the wait which was helpful. I’d be a little concerned for future given the wait time. Ended up being 2 hours for lunch.
Excellent service, great food, quaint atmosphere all for a good price. Lots of local ingredients. Great date spot!
Hands-down, it's the best place in town for a good meal in a romantic setting. Wait staff were timely and attentive. Good wine list, and well made cocktails. We had the Filet Mignon with prawns which was well prepared. Only complaint was that they did not offer ceasar salad (my fovorite) but their house salad was tasty.
Wonderful food and ambiance as well as service and decor. Great for dinner.
Dinner and Service was Great...Where we were seated was not! Thought I booked well enough in advance to get in house table rather than the veranda...Fruit Flies were terrible especially when spending that kind of money for Dinner!
A very enjoyable evening, professional staff, great food! The music on the patio was an unexpected treat!
My husband and I really enjoy this restaurant. The food was beyond excellent! Something different but delicious! Everything from our drinks to dessert was exceptional! The location is beautiful and elegant. Almost brought you back to a different time period. Our server was friendly and helpful.
We were at HOBNOB on a Thursday night, so not one of their busier nights. We were the 2nd table seated in our section. The other couple had ordered so were on their way. Drinks came in a timely manner and we ordered our appetizers and main course, that’s where things ground to a halt. Even though the restaurant was not busy another couple was seated almost on top of us. They were treated to complementary sparkling wine (birthday) and then ordered the tasting menu. Another couple came in and were seated nearby. Appetizers for both the other two tables appeared but we were still waiting for ours. I finally was able to get our waiter “Allan’s” attention and asked about the status of our order, given we were seated and order taken well in advance of other tables arriving. Much to my surprise, he said it was his fault as he prioritized the other two tables. The 2nd couple he said were on a wine and food tour and of course tasting menus always get priority due to # of courses. After a very long wait, our mains arrive. I had the halibut, which Allan recommended, and my husband had the tenderloin. My halibut was under cooked in the centre and the tenderloin was barely warm. No one dropped by to check on us, although the table with the tasting menu got plenty of attention. In the end, the halibut was removed from our bill and we were offered a complementary dessert, which is fine, but we would have preferred better service, properly cooked and hot food. So, unless you want to splurge for the tasting menu, be prepared to wait.
There wasn’t a bad thing about it. Excellent services, deliciously perfect tender tenderloin! Y compliments to the chef and to Jill our lovely server!
Fabulous fabulous tasting menu with outstanding service from Gillian
Friendly, efficient service and excellent food taste (especially the fois gras) and presentation!
Delicious food but a bit pricey for what you get. The ambiance was beautiful and the service was fantastic
Everything was great. Alan took good care of us!!
Great food, excellent presentation, lovely ambiance and contrary to past reviewer’s opinions the veranda was delightful!
It was our anniversary and they were so kind and accommodating it was a wonderful experience.
Nice restaurant but, in spite of having reserved a table, we could not eat in the nice dining room and we had a table in a Veranda (a corridor). Good food but a little bit expensive (210 CAD for 2 salad, a chicken plate and a lamb one, A bottle of wine (the less expensive thay have), no dessert.
Food and service were fantastic. My husband and I both did the tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a brand new menu and very delicious. Our only setback was the ambiance, we were seated in the indoor veranda, which was freezing and nobody around us. It was very quiet, but we didn’t get to take in the true restaurant environment. Please double check your reservation and make sure it’s in the restaurant itself, no side verandas for a true experience.
The server was very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. My tenderloin, while tender, was under cooked, and the very few vegetables on the plate were too hard (potato's skin was so hard it cut through my gums).
My husband lamb, on the other hand, was really good, and done as requested.
The deserts were as expected, but the bill was a bit too much! Good thing they serve hot bread buns and butter, and they keep replenishing the water, or i would have ended up going home hungry!
I enjoyed the meal but I ordered it at 5:45 and despite mentioning that I was going to the theatre my table was served at 6:50 pm (65 minute wait) No apologies no explanation. We saw all the parties who came in after us served first. When we asked why, the waitress refused to give any explanation or acknowledge the lapse. We had to eat quickly when we had hoped to have a leisurely meal by booking a 5:30 table. This was very frustrating. I can only imagine that we were forgotten as our plates were not that complicated.
