HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern Ratings and Reviews
It's Christmas Day, decided to make a reservation for dinner. Valet parking free which was a plus. Very limited menu because of Christmas which should have been stated when reservation was made. Waited 5 minutes to be seated and the tavern wasn't full. Finally my group of 5 was seated on the partially enclosed patio. With it being 40 degrees in Atlanta I wasn't trying to sit in the cold. Asked to be seated inside and I was told that there was a heater out on the patio and that all the reservation were seated on the inside. I let him know had a reservation and he said do you see anyplace I can seat you. Ummmm, needless to say that my group left and will not return due to extremely poor service.
My friends and I met to catch up over brunch and the place was on the smaller side, the dining area was much smaller than expected - considering we eventually found out from the manager that patio seating was moved inside to ensure thy don’t turn away any guests that made reservations because of weather. The food was OK. I ordered the Breakfast Tacos which arrived at the table cold. The server, while polite, wasn’t as attentive since he was manning a large party next to us. Meanwhile, the dining area was tight on space to the point where people had to stand to the side and inch along behind seated guests. One of my friends facing me was bumped by a member of staff who ran our food to the table and was told (& quoted) “she was in the way!” We asked for a manager, who, then proceeded to tell us about accommodating guests as best they could because the rain closed the patio seating, and how the young lady who ran our food just had her wisdom teeth pulled, but is usually nice otherwise. SERIOUSLY!? It’s hard to believe telling a guest (who is already seated in an obviously crowded dining room) they’re “in the way” is justifiable, let alone a polite thing to say. While he apologized on her behalf by justifying her comment by blaming dental work, the situation wasn’t rectified. I’ve served in the restaurant industry for over 3 years and also carry a predominately service-based background for over 13 years, so I can understand the variables that can contribute to a stressful and fast paced environment, but to dismiss a disappointed guest with an excuse is insulting and in poor taste. I booked this place for brunch because of all the great things I’ve heard about HOBNOB, sadly this will be my first and last time visiting.
Food was great and the mimosas were amazing. I will definitely be back for brunch when I visit Atlanta again! Tip: Try to get a reservation earlier like around 12. This place fills up quickly. Mimosas start at 12:30 on Sunday, but you can always order an appetizer while you wait :-)
Our server was wonderful. We were the only people in the place so it was pretty cool the manager asked us what music we wanted to listen to...the food was on point. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything bad on the menu on multiple visits. I took a friend here who flew in from out of town before I dropped him off at the airport. He’s a total foodie so I knew Hobnob would come through. Thanks!
Great place to eat without spending an arm and leg. Food and drinks were delicious. The service was great and I am happy they offered valet parking. Parking in that area can be a nightmare but complimentary valet helps a lot! I love the fact that I don't have to get dressed up to eat!
Went here for brunch with a few friends, two of us were from out of town and heard this was a good spot. We were sat quickly, and was told this was a good table as opposed to others because the service would be faster, this was not the case. Two of us ordered bottomless mimosas, and it took a WHOLE HOUR to get our first refill (btw, bottomless mimosas cost us $17, which is a little more pricey than what we are used to in D.C.). A table who was seated about 30 minutes after us got their food before we did. When our food did come out, two of us had cold eggs, and another was made incorrectly. We asked to speak to the manager about the problem, who quickly dismissed out complaints and concerns. Overall, the service was slow and poor, and we will most definitely not be returning upon our next visit.
Let me say I LOVE this place for brunch. It is my go to for bottomless and bourbon. That said, this was our first time for lunch. We arrived during the turn over time, so the menu was limited.
We both got a flight (3 opts were unavailable), wings, and the crab dip until we could order lunch. Both were "okay."
For lunch he got the salmon and I got the pork and grits. I enjoyed my food (and bourdon drink), but his salmon was over cooked and the Brussels sprouts were burnt. The glaze was good, though.
He's not one to make a fuss, so we just shared my meal. The waiter noted that "he didn't eat much," but not much else. In the server's defense, we didn't want to seem difficult.
We'll definitely have brunch again, but I'm not sure about anything else.
Friday night is great if you want to hear some live music. I've always wanted to try this place bc it's on the corner of a busy intersection. The food was decent, but our service left much to be desired. Taylor was unattentive and neglectful. It's definitely crossed off the list.
It was the worst experience ever! I was so embarrassed because I had friends and family from out of town and I was excited to take them to Hob Nob for brunch. It started when we came in.. we were seated outside and when I asked the host why we couldn't seat inside.. she responded very rudely.. and just threw the menus down on the table.. the waiter kept spilling water and mimosas on us and the table.. and also didn't put in one of our orders. Once again, just awful.
Where to start? I don't even know our servers name, she was a petite quiet girl w/ many piercing in one ear. She was very slow. when taking our order she didn't write anything down. We ordered 3 of the of the chicken & waffle sliders. First off sliders were described to come on cinnamon roll waffles Nashville Hot Chicken, Powdered Sugar and Maple Syrup.. our sliders came out on litterallly Eggo waffles that were cold and soggy. chicken was good & we kept the app but just put the cold soggy waffles on a plate off to the side. If the restaurant was out of the cinnamon roll waffles the server should have let us know before we ordered. If you plan on ordering these I would suggest confirming that they are not 86 on anything.
I ordered a bottle of Charles & Charles rose. When the server returned she had a bottle of Matua rose and proceeded to pour a large glass before presenting the bottle. I asked her if they were out of Charles & Charles rose and he response was "oh I thought this was it" our server had a lack of knowledge on 86 items or substitutions. She then said "let me go back and ask the bartender" obviously they were out of C&C rose. However our server should have communicated that & asked if we still wanted the bottle or another option prior to opening the bottle & pouring. Fried green tomatoes app is delicious (we ordered 2 but only got one)
I had the pig &grits(tastes a lot like thanksgiving... not my favorite.) my husband ordered the hanger steak and 2 kids each got a kids meals steak dinner. The kids portion is huge and the same hangar steak as an adult meal for half the price. Order that and save money. Hangar steak is not worth $22. No complaints on the wings and southerner burger. A friend ordered the shrimp and grits and it was spilled on a little girl as it was making its way to our table. Poor girl. We had to wait about another 15 min to get a new shrimp & grits w/little to no grits. We enjoyed the family game headbands at the end of our meal.
Not sure what has happened to this place. First clue was the fact it was a Saturday night and the place was empty. There were 6 of us. Sat down at the tables and had to ask the waiter to clean the tables. The floor was dirty. Service was so slow. One in our party did not receive his meal until most of us had finished our meals. Always loved this place since it first opened but the last two visits will be our last. Food was good when you finally get served.
We went to grab a bite after an awesome day of hiking. Great beer selection but was out of two of the beers we selected. Marcus was a good waiter, a little impatient at times but fast. The wings were less than desirable but my date was great.
We sat outside so the flies wanted to eat with us but the eatery can't do anything about that.
I would recommend to a friend for drinks because menu is very very limited.
