The reason to dine here is the charming outdoor patio next to a historic building in a wonderful, walkable town. The food is okay. The drinks are watery. Go for the ambience and don't expect too much.
Food was very good. Service was great. Very nice meal.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, a wonderful place to dine for lunch or dinner.
Ho-Ho-Kus Inn has been around for centuries - literally (at least its pre-Revolution Dutch stone house has been). But the food is not centuries old; it is modern, well-prepared mostly old standbys done and presented well. The inn has adapted to the times, with both indoor and outdoor dining; the indoor is done with plenty of space between tables, so we felt comfortable it what was one of just 3 indoor meals we have had in the past year. And the roasted chicken passed restaurant critic Ruth Reichl’s observation that roasted chicken is the true test of a restaurant; any establishments that do it well were high on her list of places to eat.
Had the Asian salmon burger for lunch and it was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to get it again.
Very good food and great outdoor setup
Beautiful outdoor setting and felt very comfortable with their covid protocols
Classy, upscale casual fits our vibe again and again. Food and service is outstanding and Junior remains the host extrodinair .
Relaxed, very quiet, which is essential to me. Drinks were generous, food very good.
We enjoyed our dinner at the HoHoKus Inn. The ambience of this historic revolutionary war Inn is cozy and warm. Two fireplaces and beamed ceilings are welcoming and pleasant for enjoying comfort food like the Zabriskie cheeseburger with a glass if good cabernet.
Great food, service and ambiance
3 of the 4 diners were very pleased. I was not pleased with my chopped salad with shrimp. the portion was very small, and the shrimp were small and dried out. A very pricey salad for an unsatisfying meal.
One of my favorite spots! Always my go-to for brunch, date nights, special occasions, etc. food, cocktails are always delicious and service always impeccable.
Fun ambience for a night out, however the food was forgettable.
We went to celebrate the success of our virtual event. Thank you for the outstanding food and service!
We are never disappointed in the food at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn. We have not been there as much as we would like have been due to the pandemic. We had a lovely lunch there outside on a sunny November day - our first time out last Fall. We took two friends there for lunch yesterday - our first time out with non-family members who are also vaccinated. And perhaps for the first time ever, we are going there two days in a row - tonight we will have dinner there inside to celebrate our granddaughter's birthday. We love the menu, but yesterday, had two of our favorites - the crab cake and the Zabriskie burger, with the calamari first. Great as always.
We were sat in library room by the fireplace. They seemed short staffed. We waited awhile to place drink and food orders. Seemed like our are was deserted by the wait staff. They did give us champagne for our anniversary which was nice. The food was all excellent.
Very nice casual place to eat. Service was good although a little slow and never rushed us.
Outside area is great, lots of heaters and tented. I loved that I could make a reservation online through open table for the outdoor space!
Love the salmon burger. Unique and delicious!
-we were celebrating a birthday and the staff went above and beyond
to make it special! food and drinks are consistantly delicious. the pork
chop on the menu was outstanding! the Hohokus Inn is a true neighborhood gem!
You can never go wrong here. We love everything about this gem!
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had recently.
Great dinner. Food
Delish staff wonderful
Wonderful food. Excellent service.
HHI always delivers!!!
Junior is the ultimate master of ceremonies
He comped my wine on my bday in March. Gestures like that go a long way
We celebrated a birthday in the outside area, the spacing and openness was great! Felt very safe and had a great time!
Great food, tent, heating
Nice views and nice building
Very comfortable outdoor seating - tables spaced appropriately. Food was excellent.
Great food and atmosphere
Outdoor dining was very well done. Beautiful tent and spaced seating. We felt very comfortable during this crazy times. The food was outstanding. The Asian salmon burger was delicious as always and the Calamari New England Style has a nice twist and delicious balsamic drizzle. This place never fails to deliver great food and excellent cocktails. ( yummy dirty martini with blue cheese olives)
EXCELLENT SERVICE FOOD AND STAFF ARE RIGHT THERE SHOULD YOU NEED THEM. THEIR OUTSIDE DINNING IS DONE OVER AND ABOVE MOST PLACES I HAVE EATEN.
Always a nice time!
A great place. Excellent food & service. Really friendly & fun
We went during the brunch menu. What we ordered was good but I wish there were just a few more main entree options
Enjoyed a wonderful Easter brunch. Lived in nearby Paramus for years and finally went for holiday brunch. Was definitely a nice place we will visit again. Food and service was amazing. Service was a good balance of making sure we were ok but not overly intrusive. Wonderful atmosphere with the various small rooms for dining rooms.
Easter Brunch was a flop! Ordered the deviled eggs, they were still icy when served! I ordered Eggs Benedict on a biscuit. The biscuit was the size of a silver dollar. The eggs were well cooked and the “Taylor ham” was extremely thinly sliced, the size altogether about the same as 2 thumbnails put together. My daughter’s salad was ok.
We tried dessert- chocolate lava cake. Unfortunately tasted like boxed cake... we also got 2 mimosas. There were ZERO bubbles. Really poor food in a once great place. It was poor immediately prior to quarantine as well, but thought it was a fluke. I guess not!
We had a relaxing comfortable dinner in the bar area accompanied by a warm fireplace. Our waiter was skilled at his work and a polite young man. Appetizers were good. Warm pretzel with cheese and hot! Mustard dips. Buffalo wings. We had pasta dish and burgers. NY cheesecake was outstanding. A wonderful local restaurant in an historic inn.
Great menu and specials. Food is always delicious. Attentive and friendly service. All precautions for COVID are in places- tables spaced out in large heated tent, servers wearing masks and gloves- felt very safe there.
Prices are a little high but it’s a great local place and always a good experience.
Wonderful all around! The dishes were creative and delicious. The dates with goat cheese and bacon were to die for. Our server, Ed was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We will definitely be back!
