We celebrated Easter brunch with family and we enjoyed the homelike coziness of the inn. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious--a nice variety. There were kid-friendly choices too like mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and sugary cereals.
Oysters were delicious. Food was very good as was service. Nothing to do with restaurant but why do people bring infants and small children into bar? Screaming little ones should not be ruining dinner for everyone. Take you screaming child home!
Good food and many different dining areas made this a great place to have a dinner conversation with friends. We ended up spending 4 hours.
I was disappointed in the food based on the price.
Ordered a bottle of high end wine (>$200). They brought a different bottle from the same producer (lower quality, lower overall rating). No explanation and proceeded to pour it. I'm quite disappointed as this is one of our favorite restaurants. Off the list now...
Service was very poor; very disappointing.
It took forever to receive bread and then we had to ask for butter.
Food took a long time to arrive at our table and generally service was extremely slow.
was there this valentines day. the only good thing i ate was lobster bisque. entrees were completely tasteless both mine and my wives. my wife was half done with her meal when they brought me my replacement which again had no flavor or seasoning. Very surprised restaurant didnt even offer to comp for serving such tasteless dishes. I would not recommend sadly
Went for Valentine’s Day. Felt like we were dining at a cafeteria or catering hall. Had four different servers take care of us. Food was good however.
The waiter was very gracious throughout the evening. However, it took an hour for our entrees to be served after our appetizers. All of the entrees (which were seafood) were room temperature and the salmon was dry and overcooked.
We were not impressed with the food.
Our go to place for special occasion dinning. Great ambiance, wine selection and drinks. The food is very good and if there is an issue it is corrected without hesitation or disruption.
Wonderful restaurant with old charm. Was glad to see some gluten-free choices but not many. Although they offer GF bread with sandwiches, the ingredients in the sandwiches may not be GF, as is the Salmon burger.
Entrees are pricey for lunch, but the scallops (2) were nicely done. Prosecco was a nice choice too!
First time having brunch at ho ho Kus inn and it was excellent. Great selections of foods of breakfast lunch etc. Will be back again for sure
The price was very good for what you were offered also and the mimosas were delicious too.
Family brunch for birthday celebration with 3 generations
Everybody was happy with the brunch selection ,
Even our 90 year old !
Fabulous food and excellent service.
Our first visit but surely not our last.
Perfect from start to finish!
We had fantastic food, the waiter was very attentive and gave us excellent suggestions regarding menu options. We got the duck and short ribs, which were both exceptional.
The grilled octopus as an appetizer was a bit overcooked.
Enjoyed a relaxed brunch, with a wide assortment of choices including jumbo shrimp and smoked salmon, as well as unlimited Bloody Marys and Mimosas. The service was very attentive. Well worth the week's wait to get a reservation.
Historic building so you can’t beat the atmosphere. Attentive service and good food. Just slow coming out. Which was OK because I was in no rush.
Very disappointed. Every dish we ordered came out either underdone or freezing cold. Both appetizers and entrees were cold and took a long time.
The table next to us was having a similar problem.
Service was slow and by the time our dishes were recooked it was very late. They did take a few things off the bill to compensate however I would have rather had a good meal than a free dessert.
Not going back. Too bad - it is a great location and I had high hopes.
We were there for New Year's Eve so I guess it's not really fair to review when they have a fixed menu and are super busy. As far as we are concerned the food wasn't up to the standards of the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn which is usually excellent. The service was well timed and friendly.
Varied menu with well prepared dishes. Very good selection of wines, although bottle ordered was sold out; excellent draught beers both local and international. Service professional, although busy night and at times less attentive than normal. Steaks are nicely aged and cooked to perfection; sides are reasonable although not abundant in choices. Overall, HHK Inn is a predictably good restaurant and makes for a nice evening out.
Service was amazing
Food was very good
Cozy and beautiful
The only disappointment is we were in the corner by an exit door so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful ambiance .
Cold night. Good food warmed our hearts!
The table we were seated at had me looking at an uninteresting blank wall. Other couples were seated in more attractive settings. It seemed to me that preference was given to frequent visitors. The octopus appetizer was not nearly as tasty as in Oceanos. I was disappointed and expected more from such an establishment.
Gave us a special place to bringGrandson for a quiet chat and enjoy the food while talking to him.
Don't go fr last seating. Go early.
Service was rushed. Did not enjoy holiday meal😐🤐☹
We have been having dinner there for the past few years for Christmas Eve and it’s always wonderful! The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. One year it even snowed while we were there for Christmas Eve dinner and it was truly special!
Outstanding. Always a notch above!!! HHI kills the competition!
We enjoyed a very relaxing brunch, the server was very attentive to us.
High price, fair food, good service. The overall ambiance is good but some of the rooms lack character. It was ok, probably won't return.
Food was delicious. Short ribs were perfect as well as the steak. Very attentive wait staff and the tables are not crammed together. Some patrons were dressed up and some were casual. The decor is warm and traditional. Good solid menu - very well prepared.
The Ho-Ho-Kus is a stand alone, out standing historic building with lots of charm, good food and good service, however, the food prices vary and $15.00 for a 6 oz glass of the house Ca. Chardonnay is a bit pricey!
Delicious meal great service
Three of us had lunch here. Two of us had a salad choice, one with salmon added the other with hangar steak added. The third had an Asian salmon sandwich. Everything tasted good and portion sizes were fine. Ambiance is subdued in this 250 year old building. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Prices are reasonable.
One salad arrived with dressing on it even though diner asked for dressing to be on the side. When pointed out to the waiter, the response was a terse sorry. Felt like a slap more than an apology.
Always a great experience. Only regret is that luncheon menu is limited. Wish I could get dinner menu at lunch.
I have eaten here many times and this time was not great. We wanted to eat in tavern
Always a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere. Food greatly and the cappuccino was fabulous.
Server (don't remember his name ) was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful.
First time. Enjoyed the do in experience.
We went for a night out with friends, without children. The location is lovely and the staff was very attentive. The food was fine, but I'm not sure it was worth $100 a person including drinks and tip. I had the octopus appetizer, which was mostly couscous and hardly any octopus. My husband had the kale salad which he said was very good. Two of us had the short ribs and the other two had the steak frites. The steak was very good, and the short ribs were ok. I might give it another try, but not anytime soon. There are better places in the area.
Nice venue with good service, but unfortunately food is basically inedible. Went there w my husband, uncle, and mother. Ordered steak, burger, and salmon. Steak was like rubber. Burger was raw. And salmon was terrible, so bad that my 91 year old uncle who never complains actually says it was bad. My husband had ordered an Asian salmon burger which he also said was terrible. The desserts were also disappointing. The cheesecake had a refrigerated taste. This used to be a place w great food. What happened? Very disappointed. I did not complain as it was my birthday celebration and was just trying to get through the meal but will admit i regret going here, and so does my mom.
