   We arrived on time for our reservation but were seated to wait at a table in the bar as no dining room tables were ready— a birthday party ran later than expected. Not a big deal. After we were seated, it took over an hour to order. When the order eventually came out it was incorrect, someone’s food was missing. Staff was unapologetic. The neighboring table had similar issues and could be heard asking why their entrees came out before appetizers. The AC was not working well on a 90 degree day and the employees agreed it was hot; this made the difficulty getting water glasses re-filled even worse. My kids eventually walked from the dining room to the bar to request their own drinks since we didn’t have servers visiting the table often. All this said, I’m sympathetic to the fact that many businesses cannot get enough help. I just wish they didn’t accept as many reservations if they did not have staff. Maybe people called out of work last minute, who knows. We were there for a birthday (which I had to remind them) but we left before dessert due to the chaos. Worth mentioning —***the food was excellent. Compliments to the chef!!! *** We’ve been there before, as have family &friends, and the food is reliably very good! But even so, I doubt I’ll go back anytime soon. *pardon typos, speech to text

   Sat outside very nice but noisy. Staff kind of forgets yiu out their as service was a bit slow. Very nice place. Very few beets in the beet Baratta salad. Overcooked brussel sprouts. Grilled corn was superb but put the Siracha sauce on the side you don’t need it as it’s great.

   The service was good The food was good The price was fair No tables cloths . Don’t know if it’s because of Covid. Tables were too close together. Will try outdoor next time. It’s a good restaurant. Definitely will go back.

   Party of four went to celebrate after our daughter received her Masters at Ramapo. Had requested a "special" table for the dinner. Not only were we seated in an intimate room with a fireplace and only about 6 tables, but the Chef's Special menu included a note with words of congratulations on your graduation. Very touching. That was special! Food was very good, from the Asian calamari to the NY Strip and soft shell crab to the warm apple cake with ice cream...everything was great. Service was a little slow, but it worked for us, and allowed us to sit and talk over cocktails. This is definitely our new go-to restaurant for special occasions. Thank you Hohokus Inn for making my daughter's night so special!

   I was not happy with my experience yesterday. Very little portions for a lot more money. The service was terrible. We did not get any attention unless we called someone over. When I received my cappuccino, girl spilled it all over and just laughed about it. I’ve been there several times before and loved it. I was extremely disappointed last night.

    2 TABLES OF 6 PEOPLE EACH IN A ROOM OF 8 TABLES WERE VIRTUALLY YELLING AND CREATED A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR THE OTHER DINERS IN THAT ROOM. I AND ANOTHER MAN REQUESTED TWICE FOR THE HOSTESSES TO ASK THOSE 2 TABLES TO BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHER PATRONS AND LOWER THEIR VOICES. THE HOSTESSES REFUSED TO DO SO. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT RESTAURANT.

    From one of my favorite places to a complete zero. From the food-cold completely garlicky seafood risotto with barely any seafood- 2scallops snd 3 shrimp snd NONE of the other claimed seafood- to the wine not served for 20 minutes and after tracking down the waiter who then took another 10 minutes to tell us they were out of the wine to then charging us for the wine on the bill. His response when I told him of the mistake he said “I know”. Then while waiting for the valet in the rain I finally saw him sitting in one of the cars talking on his phone. The used to be fine place has gone downhill.

    Mothers Day- started off in the bar which was lovely then seated outside in the tent, which was comfortable considering the weather. The service and food were not up to par. We come here often and if this was our first time we wouldn’t be back.

    a very cozy restaurant with good food and a nice ambience. We sat upstairs in a room with a fireplace. Tables were nicely spaced out. Everyone in our party enjoyed their brunch food ranging from burgers to eggs benedict. Restaurant was lively and service was good.

    The food at the restaurant is very good but this is not our first time having issues with the service being exceptionally slow. The last few times we have sat down and ordered appetizers and dinner right away and each time it has taken over 45 minutes for each round to come out. We thought it was a one time thing but we keep going back and it keeps happening. We will not be going back anytime soon.

    True, it was the night before Mother's Day, so maybe that contributed to the excessively long wait for our food to arrive. When it did, though, the steak was undercooked and the porkchop (a small, thin, unremarkable cut of meat) was way overdone. The place is beautiful, which honestly made up a little for the sub-par food. I'm on the fence as to whether or not to re-visit this place, since it's too pricey to take a chance that the food might be better the next time.

    Table was broken - they couldn’t fix it Rolls were stale Portions were small Over priced for what you get My son got steak they never asked how he wanted it cooked , which means it was pre made - it was over cooked and no flavor

    This is a nice little 18th century home with several small rooms. Usually we really enjoy this place but tonight a diner with a foul mouth kept dropping F bombs saying other foul words like he was at the local bar. As this was in front of children and seniors it was really not appropriate and He should have been removed. The Father of the kids almost got into a physical confrontation with the idiot and the whole mood of the room was destroyed taking the enjoyment out of what should have been a great night out.

    Food was good - burger, crab cakes, charred cauliflower. Fried Goat Cheese Salad was 4 small disks of cheese with lettuce - not worth it but did taste fine. Service was very slow but this was for every table sitting outside, suspecting due to large parties in the banquet rooms. Staff (wait or kitchen) also didn't seem to prioritize outdoor dining patron needs. Perhaps other times when no other parties are being attended to would be better.

    Sat in their outdoor tent which was thankfully open air with generous heat lamps. The tent was beautifully decorated to match the food. Ho Ho Kus Inn is always a guaranteed win and never disappoints. The GF brownie is suspiciously good!

    We had a fabulous dinner… Service was excellent, drinks were refreshing, the salmon and the scallop dishes were both delicious. As well as the calamari appetizer. Loved the outdoor seating and will definitely return!

    It was much too noisy for a relaxed dinner. We were surprised to have a loud celebration.Going on right next to us . That table could have been placed at the back of the room, allowing that fun celebration not to interfere with the tables for 2 & 4 around the room. Since we could hardly hear each other, it was a disappointing evening

    I’ve been to The HHK in before for different occasions. As always, the food, service and experience overall was amazing. The brunch menu was very diversified and delicious. The ambiance was perfect for a first date. The only reason I put the noise level at 3 was because of a screaming baby but that’s no one’s fault. Usually I would put it at a 2 😀. I’m sure I’ll be back again.

    I don't want anyone to know how good this place is. It's busy enough, but I want to keep it to myself. My partner had Bolognese. I had braised short ribs. Delish both entrees. Appetizers crab spring rolls and French onion soup. The beer Chimay ,the best yum yum. Dessert Apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. A excellent place and we will definitely be back. It was our first time there. We find the best places in all states and cities by using Open Table. Thank you Open Table.

    Great food - we have come to the restaurant and the bar for years and never had a disappointment in food, service or atmosphere. In fact, quite the opposite - service is always on-point and warm and friendly. The selection of foods is quite good - not volumes of selection but straight forward, always prepared well and consistent. The atmosphere is charming and depending upon where you chose to eat, a formal setting in one of the dining rooms or informal in the bar area, you will not be disappointed. The seating are comfortable, the ambiance is cozy with plenty of history to look at. I recommend the Ho-Hokus Inn for Family celebrations, cozy dinners and lazy Sunday afternoon football on TV in the bar.
