was visiting Seattle from New Jersey...well worth the plane ride and ferry. great local ingredients. Chef knows what he’s doing and it shows in his food and presentation. Chef was kind enough to come out to talk to my wife and I. Well deserved of top spot of 38 essentials Seattle recognition. Would come back in a heartbeat.
Was looking forward to dining here the most during our recent stay in Seattle..IT was the whole experience..Walking down to the ferry dock from our Air BNB...catching the evening ferry to Bainbridge Island and having a very nice farm to table dinner at Hitchcock which i had been reading so much about. We arrived at Hitchcock on a cool clear night and entered a very homey and warm space. We were seated instantly and brought drinks and menus. We really had looked at the menu online prior to arriving and looked forward to having the whole branzino. Of course this wasn't on the menu and had been replaced with a Salmon dish which i ordered. Oysters as well were not on the menu on this night but were on the online menu. Slightly disappointing but we managed still to have a great meal. He ordered the gazpacho soup with strawberry, can't remember what his entree was...possibly a pasta. I finished off with a very good cheese plate. It is not a cheap place but it is worth the ferry ride and trip over to Bainbridge for the freshest ingredients.
My experience with Hitchcock restaurant was not a good one. My niece and nephew were going there to celebrate their 5th anniversary. They live in Seattle and I love in New Jersey. I called that day to have champagne and desserts given to them I left my credit card number with them. I also mentioned that my nephew was gluten free so it would be best if they picked the desserts. My niece sent me a picture of the champagne and I asked about the desserts. It was never offered to them nor were they told that wa part of the surprise. I spoke to the manager the next day and her comment was the they had a lot to eat and didn't want them to feel they had to order dessert. I asked if there was anything they could do and she said well they had a nice evening. The is not the storer service you expect from this caliber of restaurant. I would not recommend this place. My niece also said that the service was not great.
I am French and I love food and this is hands down one of the best restaurant in Seattle. The Ferry ride is awesome and the cuisine is authentic, non-prentious, creative … The sommelier is awesome too!
Wonderful dinner with the chef's treating menu! Great food, nice ambiance, attentive service made this birthday dinner very special.

Great spot not far from the ferry with amazing food and drinks. Staff was on point as well. Loved the cocktail hour specials.
How lucky are we to have this amazing place in this small town? It’s such a great blend of sophisticated, local and inviting. On our last visit we enjoyed the oysters, crudités, salmon and roast chicken. The salmon was a bit over cooked, but every other bite was delicious.
The foodie destination on Bainbridge Island -- Brendan McGill changes his menu daily and seasonally. And the menu has options for everyone (and the kitchen is willing to make modifications to meet the needs of individual diners when necessary), some dishes that will suit diners who want challenging flavor combinations and some that will accommodate those who want dishes that they're more familiar with. And the pasta options ALL rock! All pastas are handmade in house and you can taste the love.
Fabulous and extensive bar options and creative cocktails. Although the specialty cocktail menu is relatively limited, the bartenders can handle virtually any request, including creating a custom cocktail based on individual likes and dislikes.
And by the way, do NOT miss the crudités appetizer. If all veggies tasted like these, I'd consider giving up meat. The green goddess dressing was delicious, and every vegetable included was so fresh I wouldn't be surprised if they had been picked that very morning.
Our waiter in Seattle recommended this place if we were coming to the Island. Beautiful restaurant the staff was very hospitable and the food was delicious.
We love Hitchcock's. Every meal has been exciting and delicious. It is one of the top five restaurants we have every eaten - whether NYC, LA, Seattle, London, Venice, Rome - .
Love the chefs selections on the Happy Hour menu. Never have been disappointed!
Ordered the ribeye for two rare to medium rare. It arrived medium , and the recently hired waitress never came back to check how it was. For the price ($100!) this piece of beef should have been perfect. We sat with empty glasses also because she did not come check on what we needed after the ribeye was delivered. Won’t be going back.
We had the tasting menus. It was fun when we had shared courses. There were a couple courses that were large and we definitely left full. The progression over the night was nice and the desserts were incredible. We sat near the kitchen and enjoyed watching the food get its final touches before heading out into the dining room.
Service was slow but attribute that to busy night. Server and hostess were awesome. The food was fabulous!
We had a blast! I came here because of top 10 places to eat list online and it did not disappoint! The food was all made in-house and the ingredients were all local. The smashed potatoes were incredible as they were almost like a potato chip on the outside and a perfectly cooked potato on the inside. The paprika aioli was so good I had to use bread to eat the rest of it. The clambake was wonderfully fresh. The fettuccine and rigatoni were both to die for. This place is definitely a must if you are in the area! Bainbridge is beautiful and this was the cherry on top of a trip to Seattle.
We did the tasting menu and it was an amazing experience. Our server was lovely and we really felt it was a great value. If you are in the area you NEED to go!
We made a reservation well in advance and were seated at a tiny table crammed against a corner. The server was not overly knowledgeable on the menu. The salad was delicious but the mains were lacking.
The vegetarian tasting menu was awesome. 10 courses and 3.5 hours and such a treat. Highly recommend.
The food was great but our side of potatoes came when we were almost done with the meal. That being said, they were delicious so we are glad we didn't cancel them! Also, we made it clear that one of us could not have cheese and they removed it from the salad but when their chicken dish was served the salad had cheese on it!!
Our table was across from the bar which was fine until the bar filled up. and then people were on top of us and loud. Again this was July 3rd and there was a Independence Day festival on the street so this may not be typical as well.
We truly, loved the food and would definitely come here again!!
May I suggest purchasing cushions for your booths? When you've had a hip replacement the hard seats are very uncomfortable & sometimes painful. Causes you to leave earlier than planned. Food was defiantly different to say the least

The wait staff were attentive and professional. Both our meals were well done. It was our 29th wedding anniversary. The person who waited on us made us feel special with her conversation and she put a candle on our dessert.
We had heard all of the locals rav and so we booked a table. Ask to be outside or in the front room otherwise it's a backroom. Understand the menu is limited so be open to diverse dishes. The ingredients were superb so though the dishes may not have sounded exciting, the taste was. The wine list is underwhelming but the cocktails are creatively prepared. the service is friendly and upbeat.
We would return after the evening was completed which I had not thought would be the case.
Service was very slow and confusied about who was taking care of our table.
Interesting food items but some were difficult to serve in the vessels used to deliver the food.
My birthday! It was wonderful and the food was excellent. I appreciated the level of service and attentiveness of the staff. It was a wonderful second time. I am excited to come back now that we live in Seattle!
Man, do I love Hitchcock! I've been coming here for years, always willing to make the trek from wherever I lived in Seattle, to Bainbridge. The seasonal menu is always outstanding, and the service fantastic. My absolute #1 restaurant in or near Seattle.
Absolutely fantastic tasting menu for a really great value with thoughtfully paired wines and spirits. Hitchcock consistently over achieves and wins with advanced techniques and great quality suppliers. Highly recommended for the chef’s tasting menu.
Great food for an incredibly affordable price point!! Our reservations were for 5:45 and happy hour goes to 6. We had happy hour, drinks, and some entrees...ALL were fantastic
As usual, food and service were exceptional. First time since remodel - the space is more open and more approachable than before.

My sister was visiting Seattle from NYC and we wanted to do something different for dinner. We took the ferry from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island and are so glad we ate at Hitchcock! The star of the menu is their pork - they raise their own pigs on a small production farm. We ordered the charcuterie platter and a bottle of Washington wine - it was outstanding. Their pastas were also quite good and the Bolognese featured the same pork. The restaurant is about a half mile walk from the ferry and a lovely excursion. Would happily return!
The food with inclusion of local stinging nettles, morel mushrooms, locally raised pork, was delicious and the waiter was knowledgeable and articulate. Truly lovely food and service.
Delicious, creative food in a romantic atmosphere. Bainbridge ferry ride from Seattle is part of the experience.
The food was good, but we waited an hour between courses. Waitstaff wasn't very attentive. Three hours for appetizers and dinner is a bit much. We ended up having dessert only because we missed our ferry back to Seattle due to the slow service.
Hitchcock is a really fun space, with a very thoughtful, seasonal menu. Fantastic cocktails, the meal was excellent. Our issue was the service. We had a 6:30 rez, were promptly seated and told by the hostess that water would be coming but it would be a while as they were really busy.
We finally got cocktails and ordered at 7, our starter, the salmon tartare was fabulous and came right away. We did not see another dish until 8. Seriously. Our sever unapologetically blames the kitchen. The white asparagus and morels, also fabulous came out at 8, we ate a lot bread. We had the potato gnocchi with pork which was very good. But again we waited. As we weren’t going to make the 8:50 ferry, we had the lemon tart and coffee, and I the. Had to chase the waiter down with my credit card to run it so we could leave at 9:15 to make the 9:40 ferry. DISAPPOINTING!
Food was great and there were vegetarian accommodations. Our only complaint for a group of 4, who all chose the tasting menu (2 reg, 2 vegetarian) was that the staff seemed to skimp on the servings towards the end of the meal - on one hand, maybe they realized we were trying/sharing, but we did pay for 4 of the tastings (2 with wine pairing) but in the final courses they were bringing out 1 plate of items for all to share (what would we have gotten if it was just 1 or 2) and my fiancé and I got 1 set of drinks for the dessert pairing (why assume we would share out of the glasses??) ... I asked for a 2nd set of pairing and they accommodated. My dad also asked for bread and they seemed to not like the idea of providing some for the table, but also eventually gave us a little. Just strange, but overall, we enjoyed the food and would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
Amazing food in a great location on Bainbridge. Definitely worth the visit to the island for.
It was a shame that such a talented kitchen would produce a menu that, other than some average appetizers, presented an anemic menu of three pasta dishes (not all that dissimilar), one chicken dish, a monkfish with limited servings and a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR steak dinner.
Our guests wondered if we could stay in our seats but order from Braciato across the street!!!!
