Historic Revere Tavern
Our History: Dating back to 1740, this stone building, formerly called the "Sign of the Spread Eagle", was a "Stage Tavern". It was one of the better inns along the 62 miles of turnpike stretching from Philadelphia to Lancaster, and catered to the more prosperous class of travelers, providing him with accommodations suited to his means. Fine liquors and fine foods were served in generous portions to satisfy the hearty appetites generated by a long day in a rocking, jolting stagecoach. We continue that tradition!
Through the generations, the Revere Tavern has preserved this tradition of quality and abundance. Our family, the Cosgroves, have owned the property for over 55 years and we thank you for your business!

Our waitress Bonnie was the best waitress I have ever had!! Absolutely superb service!! The food was excellent as well. We will definitely be back and requesting Bonnie.
What a great find! My husband and I are always looking for unique places to dine. The added bonus of the history behind Historic Revere Tavern added to the ambiance. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy.
Excellent food, reasonable prices, best waitress Bonnie mic drop
Enjoyed our first visit to Revere Tavern. Nice, historic ambiance, with excellent and accommodating service.
The lamb pops were outstanding, the salad was avg but the Raspberry vinaigrette excellent. The Prime Rib had excellent flavor and while I thought the Diver Scallops flavorful, the crab cake was a disappointment with way too much filler, overly wet and absent lump crab meat found in Maryland style cakes. To their credit they did not charge us for the crab cake!
The wine list was a bit limited yet we enjoyed the Cab they offered.
The chocolate-peanut butter dessert was a delight with excellent flavors and the Carmel drizzle put it over the top.
Worth a visit!
Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Our food was good but lukewarm not hot. My wife commented that her main course was tasty but cool. My mashed potatoes were cold.
Probably not go back
Hats off the the chief! Nailed it again, everything is absolutely delicious, and the staff is professional and friendly. Hands down 1 of the best places to eat!
First time we ate at the Revere in years and the quality of the food and experience are still top notch. Prime Rib and Crab stuffed Shrimp were excellent and a great value for the price.
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to post a review and we look forward to your next visit!
After a snowy couple of days, it was great to get out and enjoy a meal made by NOT ME. Our reservation was for 7pm and e were taken right away. Due to capacity limits because of the pandemic, the tables were further apart and the restaurant not as full.
Our first time here (recommended by the friends we dined with on Saturday) and definitely will return. We shared the crab, corn and risotto balls appetizer which were delicious (could have had them as my dinner with a salad!). We each had something different. From my salmon, my hubby’s hot ham and cheese on a pretzel bun, to my friend’s stuffed shrimp and her hubby’s patty melt, we all were yummly satisfied. The service was wonderful and we enjoyed our time there.
Thank you for a perfect dinner out

I love this restaurant!! Amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. The service is the absolute BEST!! Bonnie is the best at her job and goes above and beyond every time. The owner, Tina, was wonderful!! They care about every customer and make sure you love everything!! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you!!
Thank you for your review. We look forward to your next visit.
We had dinner here for our wedding anniversary, and it was everything we had hoped for. Food was top notch and the service was A+! The ambiance was perfect for the occasion, quiet dining room with a fireplace. This place has a fascinating history and the feel of a place from the 1700s, but is very well kept and maintained. Our server Bonnie was awesome! She is very knowledgeable about the tavern and was attentive to us without excessive hovering. Thanks Bonnie!
We ordered the petit filet and lobster ravioli, both were exceptional and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food and great service. We talked about it the whole way home.
Also, this was Feb. 13. Saturday evening on Valentine's day weekend seems to overwhelm some restaurants and the service suffers- not so for this visit! It was a great experience and we both enjoyed it thoroughly.
We will definitely come here again.
We are so happy you enjoyed your dinner and thank you so much for choosing The Revere Tavern for your anniversary. We look forward to your next visit.
Great place! One of the best meals I've had in a while.
Thank you for our kind review. We look forward to your next visit.
Good food and good attentive service. Nothing too fancy but everything is good. We will be back again.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to your next visit.
My wife and I love the Revere Tavern. The food, the service, the charming, friendly, and romantic atmosphere. This time we feasted on the seafood bisque, bacon wrapped scallops, house salads, prime rib that melts in your mouth, lobster ravioli with huge chunks of lobster, and a specialty cupcake and cheesecake for desert. Also a couple of long island ice tea's. It was all so fun and so good!
Thank you so much for your five star review. We are so glad you enjoyed your meal with us and look forward to your return.
My wife & I always go here to celebrate Valentines Day. The roaring fire in the dining room of this historic inn makes for a memorable experience.
Thank you for choosing The Revere Tavern for your Valentines dinner. We look forward to your next visit.
Wonderful food and service. Love going there.
Thank you for the kind words. We apreciate your business and look forward to your next visit.
We have eaten at The Revere Tavern multiple times, each one relaxing and great food. We had reservations, were greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter presented us with the beverage list and menu, and after a brief look, we ordered wine. Drinks appeared promptly. We made our entrée selections, prime rib for my wife and crab cakes for me. My wife opted for mashed potatoes and asparagus and I rice pilaf and asparagus. We both had tossed salad with blue cheese dressing. I also ordered a bowl of seafood bisque that was outstanding. Service was attentive, but not obtrusive. We declined dessert as our hunger was sufficiently satisfied. We were cordially thanked for our patronage upon leaving. Our waiter caught up with us to hand me my mask which had dropped from my hands on the way out. We will be back.
Thank you so much for your kind words and review. We look forward to your next visit.
The food was delicious but the service was extremely slow so some of our food was cool by the time our salt/pepper/ketchup/butter finally arrived to the table.
We have been to the Revere Tavern twice since June 2020, each time trying to get the famous prime rib. Both times we went they just ran out. We tried again this past weekend, called ahead to make sure they had prime rib and were told yes, so we went. As a waitress greeted us she informed us that they had just run out of prime rib. Strike three on prime rib!
While we were eating, however, we had the misfortune of listening to the waitress share her opinion about the covid pandemic in a loud voice with another table. She quoted noble verses and stated that covid was nothing more than a flu and we are designed by Him to beat this. She said that even if we did die from covid, we would see our loved ones anyway so there is no big deal.
Unfortunately, we have been frequenting the Lancaster area due to the death of a loved one in our home last spring. To have a best friend die in your arms at home from covid and then have to listen to someone dismiss this pandemic as a “flu” was painful and upsetting. The two of us subsequently suffered from serious covid illness and recovered after weeks of horrible effects. We never know what others near us are going through and so to have to hear opinions such as this where they do not belong is both hurtful and ignorant.
We let the manager know but we’re told “she’s just very religious.” Religion has nothing to do with it,we advocate that the world needs more religion....Just not more ignorance.
Needless to say, this was our last visit to the Historic Revere Tavern, never even tasting the elusive prime rib.
Great menu selection and perfectly presented food. Katrina, our server, was spot on throughout our visit and saw to all our needs. Appetizers, Ceasar salad, Prime Rib sandwich and Crabcake sandwich were all worth comin back again for more!! This place is a Home Run!!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind review! I will pass along your compliments to Katrina.
This was our first time dining at the Historic Revere Tavern and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The service was phenomenal and the food was fantastic. We most certainly will be back.
Thank you for your kind review. We look forward to your next visit.
The food selections were unique and delicious. Service was on point. Ambiance speaks for itself. One of my favorite go to places for a relaxing, delicious meal.
Thank you for your kind review. We look forward to your next visit.
Our food was delivered in a timely manner and it was absolutely delicious!
Bonnie was our waitress and went over and above to be sure we were well taken care of. We had a wonderful short conversation with Bonnie that added to our wonderful dinner experience. We have been to your restaurant many times and look forward to returning soon.
Thank you for your kind review. We look forward to your next visit.
When we are in the Lancaster area we make a special trip to stop here. Always had good food and service. Mask protocol is followed. We used to like sitting at the bar for a before dinner cocktails ,but sadly due to the pandemic this is not possible Cant wait until we can.
If you want great service and value this is the place for you.
Thank you for your kind review. We look forward to your next visit.
First time here and it certainly won’t be our last. We were impressed by the menu choices as well as the alcohol featured drinks. This may have been the best prime rib I’ve ever had and my girlfriend loved her mushroom ravioli. She also enjoyed the caramel apple sangria. I wish we could’ve tried their desserts but the meals were large and we left very happy. Looking forward to our next visit.
Thank you for your 5 star review and kind words. We are so pleased you enjoyed your meal and look forward to your next visit!
We had a lovely meal. It was my birthday celebration and they brought me a special dessert to celebrate.
Thank you for your kind review and for spending your special day with us. We look forward to your next visit.
I have never been to this restaurant until last night (1/15/21) The place was very clean, the staff was basically friendly. Their wine list was minimal. The food was decent. I would say the brussel sprout vegetable special was very sweet which was a bit much. The filet I ordered was tender but a bit over cooked as I wanted medium rare. My husband had the tuna and said it was good.
Thank you for your review.
Great for a date night! The food was fantastic and the service was quick. There is social distancing and respect for everyone during this time!
Thank you so much for your five star review! We look forward to your next visit.
Anniversary Dinner. I had the thick prime rib and it was perfectly done with great seasoning. Au jus and horseradish sauce for dipping were awesome! Baked potato was good with asparagus that was done just right. Dessert cupcake was superb. My wife’s Chicken Chesapeake was excellent. Our server Angela was always there checking on us with another girl always keeping our water full. Our reception was here in their banquet room 38 years ago. That was awesome then and this was special now. Highly recommend this place if you have never been here!
Thank you so much for your kind review and for spending your Anniversary with us once again. Have a wonderful 2021 and we look forward to your next visit.
Seated next to a table with young children who were very loud which was annoying. Mashed potatoes were instant and horrible. Other food was good but not memorable. Glad they were open so we could pre-game on New Year’s Eve. We would definitely return for a future meal.
We do apoligize that you did not have a good experience. I have given your feedback to our kitchen. While I do apologize, our mashed potatoes are made fresh daily using only idaho potatoes, cream and butter and have never been instant. We do hope that you choose to dine with us again.
New Year dinner. Had shortribs , absolutely delicious. New York strip and stuffed shrimp were also served at our table. Everyone very satisfied with their meal. Ambiance very nice.
Thank you for dining with us and your five star review! We look forward to your next visit.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was fantastic!

Thank you for the five star review! I will pass along your comments to our Chef. We look forward to your next visit.
Our experience at Revere for dinner was exceptional. We were seated by a cozy fireplace in a beautiful dining room. Christmas decorations were festive and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable. All three entrees were delicious! Not one complaint about anything! The chef did an excellent job with selection on menu and the prices were extremely reasonable. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Very nice staff and helpful, great food and beautiful building.
Awesome food. Very friendly staff....... I wonder how many people skip this review process because they really don't feel like typing more than 50 characters. Thank you for voice operated typing.
