Hiro 88 - Lincoln
Arrived 15 minutes early, have to remind that we have a reservation half an hour later to be seated. A group of people came in without reservation was seated right away, claiming they had 9 people; we had 5 adults and two kids. When asked about our table they asked us if everyone is here, they do didn't ask the group that just showed up.
Took another 15-20 minutes after we were seated to get our food, they could have seated us and we could have started our order an hour earlier.
Nicely greeted on arrival and seated right away at a nice corner table by the window. Our server was very helpful in helping us understand the menu options and was nicely patient as we decided our choices. We hit Happy Hour and took advantage of the "bottle of wine and crab rangoons". We ordered four different meals and were all very pleased.
Hiro 88 is usually fantastic from start to finish. I choose this as my restaurant of choice when it comes to getting my sushi fix. However, over the past few years I have consistently been treated poorly by the front host staff. The host staff is the first interaction a customer gets and I am sad to say I am "used" to getting impolite service from the front of the house. Just recently, we celebrated a birthday at the restaurant and the front host staff was instantly flustered and upset with my request to sit outside with my family members (7 adults, 2 children) as they refused to put together more than two tables. So, we sat outside and had two tables put together and a third table off to itself. The host was not going to let us place the tables together at all, however, our amazing server who turned the whole mood around was very helpful, kind and helped us put the tables together so we could eat as a family. There was only one other group outside at the time of our visit. Again, I still love Hiro 88 as my favorite sushi restaurant in town, but the host staff could use some improvement when it comes to delivering a friendly welcoming first impression to its patrons.
I would highly recommend Hiro 88 especially once happy hour is over. It was very loud when we arrived at 6, but by 7 the noise level had lessened. The food was excellent as was the service. The wait staff was attentive but not too much so. My husband and I split an entree, and an extra bowl was brought when it was served. Also the salad was divided before being brought to our table. Both appreciated.
We dined in the Railyard.
Excellent food and service in a timely manner. Haymarket Hiro did not serve coffee.
If you like average food and fried food and fish, then go. It’s just okay.
Awesome service before a concert.
Server very efficient
Food good. Didn’t get our salads at all with our meals and my waitress forgot to put my drink order in but my husband got his.
We grabbed dinner at Hiro88 before the Michael Buble concert. Our waiter was excellent...one of the best we've ever had their.
Had dinner at Hiro before going to a concert. Got seated right away, had a great server, the food came out quickly and was delicious.
So good! We made reservations a few weeks ago not realizing the Michael Buble' concert was the same night. Even though the restaurant was crowded, our server was amazing and kept our drinks full and spirits high. Food was fantastic. Definitely will be back - this a a gem in downtown Lincoln.
Because it was a concert night, the restaurant was packed. We enjoyed our food and time there, though my wife struggled to get the right drink. She ordered a Cosmo, and the waiter brought a Mai Tai. We got that straightened out. She ordered another Cosmo, and something else entirely came. That one never got fixed, but they did take it off the bill.
Food was fine, it was just busy.
Hiro provides tasty food with great drinks. Our service was great for the most part and everyone in our group of 8 left happy. We ordered a variety of food from appetizers, to dinner options, as well as sushi and everyone was delighted with what was delivered.
Our waitress was extremely confrontational when I asked to make a change in my dish. Telling me it couldn’t be done. Probably won’t return there for some time. After all, I am the paying customer.
Great place with excellent service and food!
Awesome, as always.
Our waitress Shannon was awesome!
My third time at Hiro. I had seaweed salad and sashimi and ordered take out for a client too tired to go out after international travel
Yes, the service was amazing and the restaurant is very nice. The food is great and was very enjoyable
We have somehow made it a family tradition to come to Hiro on February 15th...and we like it!!
Shout out to our server—I wish I would have caught his name! He was excellent, giving hints to our first-time sushi eater who joined us. We were there with reservations @6pm. Please give him props!
Food was good as always. We will be back next year...and also before then!
Very fast service and great tasting food, a little pricy but a great looking establishment.
The selection was great and our waiter was very attentive. I ordered sashimi and my guest ordered sushi. Will return!
A great place to go before Bb games
Very cold and drafty where we were seated. Had to keep our coats on the whole time.
Service was a little slow. Food was delicious. I would definitely go again.
Food was great as always! Service...well that has been an issue at both the Haynarket and South locations. Really unfortunate because the food is consistently excellent!
The Sushi is not so good anymore - Blue is the better option in Lincoln...
Excellent sashimi is served at Hiro 88. It is my go to sushi restaurant in the city of Lincoln. They also have a superb cocktail menu. This is the only establishment I have found that serves a correctly made Vesper martini.
Where Hiro 88 falls short is service. They don't seem very attentive to their guests, even when they are slow.
Excellent food, kind waitstaff, nice clientele, what better for my birthday?!
Very accommodating; great food
Great place to dine before a concert since they take reservations. Food & cocktails were both terrific! They get you in & out promptly yet we didn't feel rushed.
Sushi was very good, but as an American, I was disappointed in the horseradish instead of burn-your-nostrils-out wasabi. The server was very good and friendly and made sure she made contact even though she had a large party of sorority girls. The beef (or did he order chicken?) and broccoli was outstanding (I stole a bite)! The couple next to us became new friends - kind of seems to happen in Lincoln, Nebraska!
It was Husker BB night. 65 minute experience. Slow. Past experience has been good
Arrived at 5 before a basketball game. Game started at 6:30, got our food at 6:20. 1 waitress for a large area with no help even as most diners were leaving without getting service. Food quality is declining as far as entrees go. Ambience had never been a strong point.
we had dinner after a Husker BB game. Staff is always well trained. Food consistently is always A++.
We love it. Jeff Greenwald
We love this place. It is modern and the food is consistently fantastic. My wife usually has the cedar planked salmon because it is, by far, the best in Lincoln. I had imperial chicken and it was great.
