Himalayan Heritage Restaurant
Service was average but spotty. Only one person at the restaurant, took him 10 minutes to realize we were standing at the door. The food was very flavorful and well made. This is more of a carryout place, not ideal for dining in.
Amazing food. Excellent service. Would recommend to a friend.
Have eaten here several times. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Cozy quiet and intimate setting.
Very reasonably priced. Well seasoned indian food.
The location in Adams Morgan is much better than the location in Bethesda. The food wasn’t that great. All of our dishes lacked taste including the daal. I also had to wear my hat and coat and so did all the other diners because it was extremely drafty and cold. In some places there was very cold air from the outside that was blowing in the restaurant. This really is unacceptable. I contemplated leaving and in hindsight I should have. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
The date was great and the food was ok.
The Nepalese dumplings are fantastic. And the eggplant dish as well. We are eager to return to try other items on the menu. This restaurant is a gem for delicious tasty food. It is a comfortable and caring atmosphere and the service was terrific.
Everything was great - soups, dumplings, main courses, desserts. We look forward to the next visit.
I knew as soon as I was served the "Tandoori Chicken" that I made a serious mistake. I should have ordered the "Chicken Tikka". The "Tandoori Chicken" I felt was very difficult to deal with being almost 1/4 of a chicken that may have been cooked but certainly not prepared for comfortable dinning. I felt it SUCKED! If I were to return, I certainly would not order "Tandoori Chicken" ever again.
Fantastic food and great restaurant!!
Took an hour to get our food which is inexcusable tome
My husband and I dine reasonably often and enjoyably at Himalayan Heritage. This time, we were rather disappointed during a weekend dinner. We both ordered the thali with meat. Our request for lamb rogan gohst in place of goat rogan gosht was cheerfully met. The lamb was superb but the other items in the thali sampler (vegetables) were not tasty, except for the lentins.
Love the restaurant but don’t appreciate the folks who yell every word. Ruined our experience but the food is amazing. The staff are kind and overwhelmingly accommodating.
Great food and great service in a cozy space. We'll be back!
Great selection of food, excellent food (and large portions of it), very reasonable prices, excellent service, pleasant, quiet atmosphere. A real find!
Very similar to northern Indian flavor, the menu offers a large variety from all meat variety tandoor to vegetarian "Momo" dumplings. Everyone can enjoy and the service is good , looks family run.
I always am on the look out for a good Indian restaurant and happened upon this. The Butter Chicken was amazing!
Wonderful service, food, and ambiance. Lovely Valentines dinner. Will be back!
Wonderful meal. The service was beautiful, and the food was delicious and healthy. And the value – it was so inexpensive! Loved it.
We arrive one hour before closing. No one rushed us. The waiter sat and talked to us when we were the only ones left in the restaurant.
The food was flavorful and the wait staff friendly and attentive. We would definitely return if we lived in the area!
Food tasted great and they had a table with only a 2-hour notice on a Friday night. That is unusual for this part of town. The place was comfortable and somewhat elegant. A few hours later both my wife and I felt horrible which left me wondering how much MSG and salt they use in their food.
They offer a mix of Indian and Himalayan dishes. we order mainly the Himalayan. the fried dumplings are excellent.
Really delicious north Indian food at a great price. Appetizer dumplings and platter were delicious as was the braised lamb and spinach, chicken tikka masala and especially the cauliflower and potatoes. The bread basket had a perfect combination of warm, chewy, yummy naans. No room for desert.
This is a perfect neighborhood gem for after movies, lunch or any special meal.
I had lunch at Himalayan Heritage in Bethesda several times before the restaurant made some changes. It added white table cloths to its scruffy decor, but it reduced the intensity of its flavors. The sauce in the chicken satay no longer had the delicious peanut flavor to which I was accustomed and the chana masala (chickpeas) had too little masala. Also disappointing was the list of wines by the glass. the fume blanc and garnacha seemed attractived at $8 a glass, but a dollar more would have made it possible to offer much better wines.
So much food!!! We had to take home a fair amount. So tasty, and such exciting flavors
to experience. The fume blanc wine was exceptional. I had a chicken dish flavored with
mint that I thoroughly enjoyed.
On a Sunday afternoon there was nobody in the restaurant and we got super attentive service! I have many dietary restrictions and the waiter was wonderful at accommodating me. I ended up with an extremely flavorful salmon tikka, and my guest had goat curry that she loved. The portions were big and they graciously wrapped everything to take home. Plain, quiet place - definitely non-trendy; high quality, fresh, good food.
A friend and I wanted an early dinner and were delighted to find an excellent restaurant in the Bethesda area, a little off the beaten track, with wonderful food and a menu that included some exotic Himalayan dishes along with great Indian food. We came early, so it was very quiet. Both of us plan to cone again.
Really good momos and samosas! We come here a few times a year, and the food is always delicious.
I don't usually trust an empty restaurant but the food was very good. They were able to meet my dietary restrictions although the wait staff didn't seem too knowledgeable about the gluten free options. The food was very good though and I would definitely return.
Wanted to really like this place and it could be so much better if they had more servers/staff. The ones we had (they seem to rotate among the tables) were all very nice and helpful but there were problems with service throughout the meal. (items ordered, never served, etc). This was not because they weren't good -- they were just overwhelmed (restaurant was full). The food itself -- mixed reviews. Some very good. Do not order lamb (grilled) -- it was dry and basically inedible but we put another sauce on it. Dishes cooked in a sauce were definitely better. Like the atmosphere and would consider returning but the managers really need to think about their staffing -- I'm not the first reviewer to mention that.
The service was very attentive, but the food lacked spice. The starter salad (spinach chaat) was delicious. But the butter chicken and yellow dal were bland.
This restaurant is very authentic and very very delicious. The waiters are attentive and helpful with reading and understanding the menu, for first time Indian cuisine tryers. It was my first time and I loved it!
The resturant is small and I almost missed it but The menu was fantastic. I had Tandori Salmon on Spinach Rice and the food was first rate.
The food was excellent and very authentic and reasonably priced. A nice place for a casual get together with friends.
Overall, it was a very pleasant and fun evening dinner. Very inexpensive and good food
Himalayan Heritage has delicious food from a variety of cuisines - Indian, Nepalese and Himalayan. This is a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends - leave plenty of time to enjoy this restaurant as the food is prepared fresh and this takes a little while. Everything is well worth the wait! What do I recommend? The goat curry, the cauliflower appetizer, the 'momo' dumplings (chicken and vegetable), the Chef's Special Biryani and if you love okra don't miss the okra dish.
There are some interesting desserts too but we were all too full for dessert. Next time we won't make the same mistake!
Good selection of India food, both the expected standards and more unusual items. Food was well prepared and very tasty. The television at the bar (set to CNN) was fairly loud and somewhat annoying, and detracted from the overall experience.
This restaurant is always friendly. All the traditional Indian dishes taste very good with their thick sauces and rich spices. Their dumplings are also a "must eat."
