We were looking for a good but not expensive place to eat before going to a music event nearby. The food was excellent, mostly Nepalese influenced, and served promptly. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will be back.
Smelled amazing when we walked in and the food was incredible! Even the kids loved it. The waitress told us the Tandoori would take 15 minutes but it came out faster than that. We would definitely visit again.
Salmon tandoor is sooo good!
Very attentive servers. Expansive menu with good descriptions of what each meal was - along with numbers to order by.
Food was very tasty, served hot with a pleasant appearance when delivered.
One appetizer, two entries, and tea for $50 including tax and tip.
All in all a delightful meal and a restaurant that we will go back to.
The staff was very sweet and generous. The dining room could use some refreshing and the food needs more flavor. It wasn't spicy but it does need some seasoning. The tandoori chicken was very dry. The palak paneer was strangely bland although the paneer itself was good. I hope they can step up their cooking and make a go of it.
They were open on Christmas evening meal is the best recommendation. The staff was very attentive. Most of the food was very tasty and authentic though the mango chutney was pasty.
Great experience. Love the people and the food. Will return
Food was delicious, especially the eggplant and mushrooms cooked with tomatoes and onions! Loved the spices and felt good in my belly.
My sister asked the server about a couple dishes and she wasn't really able to enlighten us even after talking to the kitchen. I also told her no rice and she brought rice, no biggie but a waste.
My sister got chicken tikka and seemed to like it.
If you're planning to go to Himalayan Flavors, get ready to enjoy excellent food and service. The only regret is that i cannot get more dishes when I go. Every dish is delicious .
Great Indian and Nepalese food and the best servers ever. We love coming here on a regular basis and even chosen for Valentines celebration!
Last minute reservations to Himalayan Flavors and glad I picked a nice one. Food was great, service was great. The scene was chill, perfect place to eat again. They have their own free parking lot so that's a plus. Overall my fiance loved it, I'm glad she did, we will go back. Recommend anyone to check this place out.
They charge about twice as much as any other restaurant of this type. The portions were small and the lamb korma we ordered was tough and very chewy. The service wasn't that great either. Everything on the dinner menu was overpriced. The smoke from the kitchen wafts directly into the dining room so me and my guest were tearing up for the better part of our meal. Go somewhere else in Berkeley.
Parking, good food, good service, good value.
Delicious food, well explained and served. Great neighborhood find.
Unusual food but very good. Glad they explained the spicy definition as mine was medium plus and was a bit too hot for me but very very good.
Reasonably priced and excellent service.
a local, unpretentious, comfortable restaurant that is good for conversation, food well prepared, service good.
We came here on Thanksgiving with my mother. We don't usually celebrate Thanksgiving per se, so, we end up eating really boring Chinese food or joining friends for dreadful, bland Thanksgiving fixed menus. We were thrilled to find a place with super-tasty food that was also ala carte. One of us is vegan, one is vegetarian, my mother is a carnivore, but we all found dishes that we were happy with. The samosas were truly fabulous, the vegetarian thukpa is different than we had in Tibetan communities in our travels, but it was very delicious...would definitely order those things again. The sweet staff brought us some Indian desserts on the house for Thanksgiving. The decor has lots of charm too. We're going here every Thanksgiving from now on
Ethnic Nepalese dishes on the menu are refreshing. The food was under seasoned. Would recommend for the ethnic dishes.
We're happy to find this place since it is walking distance from our house. It is one of the nicest restaurants on that stretch of University.
The restaurant was totally empty when we arrived, which felt a bit awkward. We arrived at 7:30 on a Thursday night and were the only patrons until a second couple showed up around 25 minutes later. By the time we left at 9:00, five tables were occupied.
The fare was Indian food and was quite good. However based on the description, reviews and the name of the restaurant, I was expecting something more Nepalese, or something a bit different from Indian food. We have a dozen good Indian restaurants in Berkeley already.
Two people, very good food, $35. A great deal, we'll be returning here again.
Our server did a wonderful job of helping us understand the nuances of Himalayan cuisine compared to Indian. Delicious and fun.
Interesting food and wonderful staff. I nice place to enjoy some unusual food -- with a true range of "heat" levels. My spouse was delighted to be able to eat interesting and tasty food that didn't overpower with heat while I enjoyed the spicy food they prepared for me!
Standards such as lamb korma are done perfectly here, but they have some unique options that are at least as good. The Himalayan Malai Kofta is delectable. Also, their Phapar Ko Babar (Nepali pancakes) were a tasty alternative to Naan.
This restaurant has a very marked Nepalese touch and makes dishes delicious. The chai Iis very good and they even hsve natural juices using beets. There is plenty of options. I highly recommend samosas. I very much will go back and often.
I have been to Himalayan Flavors about five times now, and I have never been disappointed. The service is so attentive, pleasant and sweet. The food is so flavorful and delicious. My favorites are the Momos (chicken and vegetarian), lamb vindaloo, tandoori chicken, and their naan is off the hook! Also, I love the way the restaurant is decorated and the ambience is great.
Himalayan Flavors has a nice decor, very attentive waiters, and the food is delicious. I definitely will be going back in the future. The added bonus is that there is off street parking available for customers. What a treat in Berkeley!!
This is a very good restaurant with an attentive wait-staff. We have two dishes that we split. The flavors were very distinctive and the dishes extremely well flavorful. I would recommend it without reservation and will return to sample other menu items.
My husband and I went with our 3 kids and it was a great experience! They were very nice and accommodating. The food was great!
Very interesting and tasty food and very reasonable pricing.
The food is terrific! Tremendous variety pleasing to vegetarians and carnivores. Every was freshly cooked, subtly seasoned and worth a return trip when in Berkeley.
Fantastic Indian/Himalayan menu with a variety of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes, along with an interesting selection of Naan. The open kitchen design made the dining area slightly smokey, but it was not overwhelming. Restaurant has its own parking lot, a bonus in downtown Berkeley. We plan to return to try other dishes.
