Nice setting but had a problem with the salad I ordered and asked for a new one. The chef scraped the toppings off the old one and put them on a fresh bed of spinach. I called the next day to let her know that my fellow diners and I thought that was poor service and she was not responsive. Sadly, I will need to find a different place to host luncheons.
Really enjoyed Sunday brunch! Very nice buffet. Friendly staff and charming environment.
The temperature in the room with all the windows and attached to the buffet room is usually a little warm. Overall delicious food and friendly/attentive employees. 4 stars over all.
A cute locally owned restaurant, with great food!
The waiter was casual and friendly, with a throat beard and hair on his neck. The ribeye was not spectacular. They paid attention to our note about celebrating a birthday but did not give us a complimentary dessert. No military or student discount.
What a lovely place for brunch! We were visited by the owners several times who asked if everything was okay. The Southern-inspired food options were great; my favorite was the collards dish. If you’re looking for local foods in a quaint atmosphere with terrific hosts, this is the place to be on Sunday after church.
I loved it! Great atmosphere amazing dining! Hidden gem of Fayetteville!
Menu was different than online one. Filet Mignon was good and the shrimp appetizer was really good. Service was very good. I will go back for their Sunday brunch.
Not as good as the reviews would lead you but was good food but will not be my first choice.
I took my mother here for Easter Sunday brunch. The food was delicious and they had a wide variety of food.
Love this place. Celebrated 45th wedding anniv with style!
We chose the restaurant because we were looking for a local brunch. We liked the location and the feel of being in an older home converted to a restaurant. There is a good selection of food and the quantities are generous - you won't go away hungry! The staff was very friendly/efficient and kept things well cleared and stocked on the buffet. Our only disappointment was the actual food itself, the quality was average and nothing special. For example, the muffins in the eggs benedict were so overcooked that they were impossible to cut with a knife.
We had eaten here previously for a business dinner and the food was much better then.
The Sunday brunch is unbeatable. There is a great selection, from gourmet items like shrimp and grits to down home items like collards and fried chicken. The addition of a mimosa (now that laws have changed) was a treat. Our only disappointment was being near a table of babbling babies. The restaurant, in my opinion, is not well-suited for families with small children, due to the closeness of tables.
Love this place! My husband and I enjoyed the scenery, service, and the food. It was very romantic.
Well prepared food. The.staff members were knowledgeable about menu items. The portions of food are large.
Entire experience from food to service was amazing.
Waiter was less than desirable. Food was terrible.
The staff seemed overwhelmed with Valentine's day despite there being several empty tables. There was no drink menu which is okay if there's a very capable bar but the wait staff was making the drinks and the bar was stocked about like most chain restaurants. The rotisserie duck was amazing and a good value for how it tasted. I didn't appreciate the 20% service fee. A table of two shouldn't be charged gratuity in my opinion.
Overall I think the place has the potential to be great but it fell short the night I was there.
Odd pairing of main/side dishes. The "chef" was adamant about not mixing. Ordered the roasted duck and it came with presumably powdered mash potatoes and collard greens. The duck was covered in a brown gravy. Tasted like a KFC dinner which would have been a lot cheaper and without the 20% included gratuity (standard regardless of party size). I didn't bother to test the dust bowl that was the fish on a bed of rice my date was eating, but I could tell by the fork pushing technique of an 8yo that it was not all that she was hoping for. Restaurant was ~70% full and though we were literally sitting in the same room as the bar, my glass of wine took 30min to pour.
The service was adequate. The food was OK.....I had the lobster ravioli. I sent it back to be reheated. I’m just not keen on having “warm” anything if it’s supposed to be hot. I doubt we’ll do another visit anytime soon.
The food was good and the service was good. I didn't appreciate the fact that my reservation was mishandled and we were all bundled together in this little room. If I called and spoke with you directly the smart thing to do is write what we said down so you won't guess or try to remember incorrectly. Which is exactly what occurred! Then we asked for more bread you server gave me an excuse that one room has 50 people the other 36 and us (28). If you can't accommodate the guest you have maybe take less guests so you will be able to accommodate those that are there. I don't want to hear your excuses about something you should have been prepared for just like you don't want to hear how I can't pay my bill! It goes both ways! The atmosphere for what we were doing for couples was great. Tyler is a huge asset to your business, be grateful because things almost went a different direction than expected! A little frustration from the female server but it comes with the territory when you get flustered! Good help is hard to find and you guys have just that good help.
The only thing I would change is the " suggested gratuity". If it is suggested then it is isn't required. However, they always charge me this. Then ask for additional tips. I do not agree with this.
They were kind to accommodate our change in time. The restaurant was not busy. The hostess was a bit condescending. The waitress was kind but suggested "signature chicken" which was dry and lacked flavor. I almost considered it previously frozen. My guest's meal was good by her account.
Food was great along with atmosphere. My friends from out-of-town loved it. Will definitely be coming again.
The menu is not the one posted on Open Table. The restaurant gives you a much smaller piece of paper.
We ordered bruschetta (bread was soggy like it sat too long on the counter, but the flavor was decent), tomato bisque (really good), mushroom ravioli with chicken (the sauce & ravioli were great-the chicken was horrible!!!!! Completely overcooked and dry), and the filet (decent). It took an incredibly long time to receive the main courses. In addition, our server did not come and check on us after food was delivered. We had to flag him down to get the check to leave. The house looks great for Christmas, but I will probably not be back.
One of Fayetteville's gems. Excellent food and atmosphere.
Very attentive staff. Food was great. Very festive atmosphere. We loved it!
Thanksgiving buffet was amazing!
The house was beautiful with all the Christmas decor. The waitress was very polite and courteous. Answered all our questions . I was a bit disappointed at the food selection. I had my appetite for shrimp cocktail and a filet mignon. But the chicken was good. Of course it will be a long time before we will be able to afford to eat there again. But all in all it was a treat. I did feel out of place and tried to be on my best behavior. This is me Cynthia talking not my husband, David. I did have to stop him from asking for ketchup for the fries and steak. Oh well.
Wine was stale, food cooked to wrong temperature, crab cakes were all filler, but put in back corner of house near view of restrooms and an unexplained large ugly curtain on the wall. Table candles not lit and a cheap fake flower on table.
Very impressed with the way this stately house was restored into a restaurant. There are several rooms, and, they all have their own personality. I was seated in the bar area, still very nice, although I would have preferred one of the other stately rooms. Sunday brunch was quite a nice variety of choices, and not necessarily all breakfast foods. They did have an omelet bar, but with one person and a single pan, so expect a wait. This person also took care of the carving station. My waiter was very friendly, but not very attentive. The food was tasty, but pretty standard preparation... nothing special. The prime rib from the carving station was very good. The desserts were not very appetizing. I chose a few cookies, but they were pretty bland, and hard as rocks.
When we booked this venue there was only one available reservation, but when we arrived there were only three other tables seated . Instead of being seated in the nicer dining area we were seated in the bar area. Once seated the menu which was a sheet of paper was handed to us and it was not the available menu online. This was disappointing to me as this was part of the reason I chose this restaurant. My dinner tasted like the chicken had been freezer burned the potatoes tasted as if they had come from a box the wine tasted as if it had been open for weeks and the creme brûlée was not great either. The service was awesome and apologized for the discrepancy in the menus. For the quality of the meal the price was outrageous .
Very good experience. Enjoyed the food as well as the environment.
Always love the Hilltop House! Great food and always completely comfortable
While the food was good, the mandatory 20% tip that is added automatically is kinda messed up. I could see that being the case with six or more people...but 20% gratuity on a buffet?? Seriously, someone must be high. I could see 15% but not 20%. Circa 1800 had better food and alcohol than this place and was worth 20% ...but they leave it up to the customer to choose based on the service they received. Seriously, you need to re-think a mandatory gratuity for a buffet.
Also, be nice of this place to update there menus on all websites they advertise or use and let potential customers know they no longer have bottomless mimosas or sangria for brunch...again, they weren’t that great and I for sure wouldn’t have paid $6.50 a piece for them.
The guy who finally came over to my table was patronizing and condescending who did nothing to help rectify the situation or at least try to do something to make up for their lack of false advertising after it was pointed out and shown to them. I will never go back...I’ll go somewhere and spend my money on a great brunch instead of mediocre one in the future.
Good service, great food, huge variety and nice ambience!
Went to celebrate a birthday, I took six first timers and they absolutely loved it!
As always the food was delicious, more than enough, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
Can't wait to go again!
The food was excellent portions and taste great. Everyone should splurge an enjoy their elegant cuisine. The dining experience was a great way to begin our evening.
I had made a reservation specifically requesting a table tucked away due to our 2.5month daughter who naturally can sometimes get upset. We showed up on time and we're walked back to the dining area and due to the tables not being ready had to stand around in a corner waiting for our table. We weren't accommodated to and didn't say anything about it. But when our little one got fussy, the same lady who was supposed to be in charge of seating arrangements had the audacity to come and ask us if we wanted to be moved to the bar since no one had occupied it yet. Mind you we had already received our meal.... it was extremely frustrating. Aside from that the food was good.
They added 20% to the bill for gratuity. It wasn't a suggestion, it was part of the bill labeled "surcharge". When I looked into it, I saw "gratuity, 20%" printed on the bill.
Seems like a little much for the tip at a serve yourself type of meal.
I won't go back because of this.
