Following a running race in Penticton, it was absolutely wonderful for the group of six of us ailing from North Vancouver to renourish and recreate at the Hillside Bistro. It was a treat to enjoy the casual yet upscale dining on the large rooftop deck with appropriate furnishings. Because we had made a reservation earlier in the week, the staff was ready to seat us at a very busy time for the establishment. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, catering to our questions and requirements. The menu was appetizing and varied so that all of us could order what suited our palates post-race for both wine and food. It was an extra special moment when the owner greeted us personally and stayed to chat about our Hillside Bistro experience. Everything exceeded our expectations. Well done!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We were four and shared eight different dishes and two flights of wine. All of the dishes were very good to fantastic. We'll be back on our next visit to the Okanagan.
This was my second visit to the Hillside Bistro. The view is stunning and the food is exceptional.
The location is a 10, and if you sit on the top deck at sunset as we did, it is gorgeous. The food was quite good but the portions were soooo small . It is a "sharing plate" kind of idea, yes, but a teeny green salad for 11$ wasn't even sharing size. We were looking for an upscale 3 course sort of meal so were prepared to pay for such a thing, but the dishes were so small, we won't be going back soon.
Fabulous mother’s day lunch! Food was tasty and creative! Small plates of yummy food!
A delightful place to have a leisurely lunch. The wait staff was knowledgeable and answered any questions we had concerning the menu and wine list. The view was amazing and we enjoyed walking up the tower to take pictures.
None of our party of 7 were very happy with the food, in fact my husband who had the chicken was Ill shortly after having this meal for the remainder of the day.
Ordered the gnocchi which was tasty and a green salad. The salad is tiny - and $11. Do not order this if you are looking for a nice big salad as a meal. I thought this was a rip off. Though it tasted excellent!!
A friend retires...
start with 8 ladies...an art show at a greenhouse with 6 local artists. Loved the paintings by Deb Tougas! Next...a local winery for a tasting while taking in the beautiful landscape. Oh...time for our next reservation a lovely winery for lunch...Hillside.
Hillside Winery & Bistro, Naramata rd, Penticton BC...Beautiful venue serving wonderful memorable wine & food. Delivered by caring and happy staff. After lunch we visit the tasting room to make our purchases. We will remember the day...time spent with new and old friends when we pop the cork on our purchases.
Back to where we started across from the greenhouse for a cheese tasting for the fanatics...
Memorable day...a nice start to a well deserved retirement!
We were in town for the Cirque du Soleil event and thought we would give this place a try. Since moving to the okanagan 2 years ago, this was our best dinner we have had! Our waiter, Ted, was awesome! Everything about this place was amazing! I definitely recommend the gnocchi!! The building is gorgeous with a gorgeous setting! It makes you feel like you are in Europe! Excellent food, service and wine
The food and wine and service were all excellent. It doesn't get any better than this.
This is such a gem of a restaurant in Penticton. The food was delicious. We ordered the Beef Carpaccio, Cioppino, and sausage and shrimp risotto. I would highly recommend all 3 of these dishes. Their dishes are all perfect for sharing. The view is also amazing; we plan on coming back sometime in the summer so we can sit on their beautiful patio that overlooks the lake on the top of the hill.
One of the few winery associated restaurants in the South Okanagan that has been very good every time I have visited.
Excellent service , food and wine.
Hillside is always one of my favourite restaurants.
The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The wine tasting was a delightful experience. The food was as good as any I have ever eaten. And the cost was quite reasonable. We will definitely return as soon as reasonably possible.
The Third time for us and the Hillside is great and also the wines in the tasting room area are great. A tad disappointing with the Calamari dish being overloaded with filler bread thus hardly any Calamari. Service was great - all round. Cheers, Terry
I read such good reviews on this place and was grossly disappointed! The wine and service was good. The food was awful! Definitely not restaurant quality. Wine and food are supposed to go hand in hand. There needs to be more pride taken in the kitchen to compliment the good wine.
Thanksgiving weekend meal. Food was exceptional as was service. In particular the pumpkins dessert was amazing.
Relaxed and easy dining. Carrot soup was delicious, very smooth and creamy. Lentle fritters were very tasty, both perfect for vegetarians. The arcic char was delicious according to my partner. This is our 3rd visit to the area and our 3rd visit to Hillside and the food is definitely worth returning for. Thank you.
Delicious food and great ambiance. This is my 3rd time eating here and I have never been disappointed.
Great food on the Naramata Bench with wonderful wines to accompany.
Very accommodating waiter. Unfortunately none of the sweeping view which compliments some of the nearby winery restaurants.
Great for foodies with some uniquely savory dishes
Enjoyed lunch with friends here. Lovely setting and the wine's delicious. It's a tapas style menu so very small portions. Keep that in mind and do the meal family style with several plates shared.
Food was good although limited food options / selections.
Really enjoyed your wines, especially the moscato which we purchase few bottles. Than had a nice quaint experience at the bistro. The calamari was excellent along side Pinot noir black cake pairing. Thank you
I am in love with the food at Hillside. Between the two of us we got the duck, the brie and the pulled pork pasta, and we shared everything. Sharing is the way to go so you can enjoy the variety of amazing flavours. We sat beside a group that had one dish to one person and I felt bad for them as they were having a delicious MEAL but missing out on a beautiful flavour EXPERIENCE. Sharing is caring.
this was my fourth visit and the least enjoyable. food was just ok but didn't live up to the hype or my expectations - perhaps because the previous years were sooo good! service was wonderful - Sarah our server - was a real delight. Sadly would only give it 2.5 or 3 out of 5 stars.
Pity as I had been so looking forward to our meal.
Exceptional, creative food at this winery restaurant. Ambience outdoors and in is really nice. If you are looking for a relaxing place to have some great food, look no further.
We will return! Coffee was good, bread was good and the salads were great!! If those are good, the food will be too and it was!!
Was dining alone but as a treat to myself for my birthday. Service was not attentive. No water offered until I asked. Seemed that my main course was forgotten as I had to ask/remind staff that I was still waiting. Food not to the same level of quality as when I had visited 5 years earlier.
Very disappointing. Upon arriving, told they had run out of menus and we would have to wait. No big deal. But then we had to wait for cutlery. Ordered clams, that weren't properly cleaned, and was biting into sand. The risotto which should have been hot and creamy, was cold and watery. Best to avoid.
In fact, best to avoid altogether.
Food was good, but slow service. May need more waiters some nights in order to have serviced clients more efficiently and in a timely manner.
Delicious food and wine, beautiful scenery and attentive service.
If pork belly is on the menu, just order it.
Very down-to-earth winery bistro with large selection of tapas, some large enough for a main. Fantastic scenery, tasty food, and a warm atmosphere thanks to an excellent staff. A keeper!
Lovely place to be and enjoy delicious food and good wine!
We had another fabulous lunch at Hillside winery and Bistro.
The view from the patio is amazing.
The menus has some amazing delight and was prepared impekably.
It's a must for anyone in the area.
Delicious small and hearty bites able to share. Every dish was tasty and the Hillside wine that we paired with the food was perfect. Service attentive--just right. Fantastic setting in unique building with extraordinary views.
2nd time here in the last month. This is quickly becoming our favourite place to take our out of town guest's. Great food, great service, and a awesome view of the South Okanagan Sunset.
We will be back soon...
Kids portions were a little small. Needed to order seconds.
Strange people dancing and recording themselves. A little uncomfortable to watch.
