Hillside Winery & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I read such good reviews on this place and was grossly disappointed! The wine and service was good. The food was awful! Definitely not restaurant quality. Wine and food are supposed to go hand in hand. There needs to be more pride taken in the kitchen to compliment the good wine.
Relaxed and easy dining. Carrot soup was delicious, very smooth and creamy. Lentle fritters were very tasty, both perfect for vegetarians. The arcic char was delicious according to my partner. This is our 3rd visit to the area and our 3rd visit to Hillside and the food is definitely worth returning for. Thank you.
Great food on the Naramata Bench with wonderful wines to accompany.
Very accommodating waiter. Unfortunately none of the sweeping view which compliments some of the nearby winery restaurants.
Great for foodies with some uniquely savory dishes
I am in love with the food at Hillside. Between the two of us we got the duck, the brie and the pulled pork pasta, and we shared everything. Sharing is the way to go so you can enjoy the variety of amazing flavours. We sat beside a group that had one dish to one person and I felt bad for them as they were having a delicious MEAL but missing out on a beautiful flavour EXPERIENCE. Sharing is caring.
this was my fourth visit and the least enjoyable. food was just ok but didn't live up to the hype or my expectations - perhaps because the previous years were sooo good! service was wonderful - Sarah our server - was a real delight. Sadly would only give it 2.5 or 3 out of 5 stars.
Pity as I had been so looking forward to our meal.
Was dining alone but as a treat to myself for my birthday. Service was not attentive. No water offered until I asked. Seemed that my main course was forgotten as I had to ask/remind staff that I was still waiting. Food not to the same level of quality as when I had visited 5 years earlier.
Very disappointing. Upon arriving, told they had run out of menus and we would have to wait. No big deal. But then we had to wait for cutlery. Ordered clams, that weren't properly cleaned, and was biting into sand. The risotto which should have been hot and creamy, was cold and watery. Best to avoid.
In fact, best to avoid altogether.
Fantastic. Amazing view, service and delicious food. We had the tasting menu for two with wine pairings. A truly lovely evening. Our server "Ted" 😀 was fantastic and accommodating - sweet and funny. What more could you ask for !!! We are from far away but would come back specifically to eat here
We had a fabulous dinner sitting outside on the deck. The food, salads and sopressata meatballs and chorizo and prawn risotto, and wine were all delicious. We even had room for the vanilla bean gelato and melt in your mouth shortbread... exquisite. What's not to love about looking out over the lake on a warm evening with great food, wine, and company?
