Fantastic food and presentation. Good selection of excellent wines by the glass. Friendly, unobtrusive, and knowledgeable service. We’ve already booked our next meal!
Food arrived barely warm, dessert was over cooked for a
There was one group that was quite loud so that affected my mark The room was chilly but once the fireplace was turned on, everyone warmed up . Very nice menu selections and wine to go with. Second time there so happy with the consistency and food quality. Outdoor patio had heaters so dont hesitate as it has good ambiance.
Amazing view from the patio. Delicious meal .
Very friendly server .
Hillside is the perfect place for dinner. The food, wine and service were great. We sat on the covered patio and enjoyed the ambience of this adorable winery. We shared four small plates and the food was delicious, dessert was even better.
I understand that restaurants are struggling to hire and train staff after the last rollercoaster year, however it was disappointing to see our waitress ignore our table and spend time chatting with other servers. We waited for 30 mins to get our drinks and appetizer which we could see sitting on the counter waiting for pickup. We were about to go find her when our entrees took another hour to arrive. Dinner for two took 2.5 hours to complete and we were ignored for most of that time. Very disappointed and expected better based on the reviews and the bill.
Oh no, i'm so sorry to hear this and will be speaking with our service team right away about your poor experience as this is not acceptable. We take great pride in our Bistro and we will be reviewing our service standards and communication within to ensure this is not repeated. Thank you for bringingn this to my attention and I do hope you will give us another chance in the future to make this right for you. Kind regards, Lisa Henderson Director of Food & Beverage Hillside Winery & Bistro
This winery restaurant has a menu that is not overly ambitious (a good thing), and we enjoyed the light meal we had — particularly the halibut main. We also liked the elegant muscat white wine. Unfortunately the weather turned cooler, so we weren’t able to eat outside. Recommended.
Fantastic server ‘Wendy’ …superb meal…great wine…perfect evening
Delicious food at a reasonable price and service was spot on!
Great food and great service - never disappoints! This is a repeat destination whenever we are in the area and will continue to draw us back❤️❤️❤️
Friendly waitress. Food was delicious. Portions very generous.
Beautiful location, wonderful food and excellent service
Spectacular menu is matched by an incredible level of customer service. It was amazing!! We will be back
Everything we tried was lovely and very tasty. I would say the portions are quite small for the price but overall we had a good experience. The view was outstanding from the upper patio.
Was so good thanks! We enjoyed a late wine and tapas at 8:30pm the perfect end to our vacation weekend.
Everything from the food, service, atmosphere and view were outstanding. We had our hearts set on the tomahawk ribeye, and even though they were out of it for the evening, the chef graciously prepared a portion for us - and it did not disappoint. Alexa, our server, was amazing. All around a 10/10 and will definitely be back. Would recommend to all my family and friends.
Tasty place with good ambiance for family style dining. Service is always friendly. Definitely recommend the perogies.
It was better than expected, sunset was beautiful to watch from the upper patio and all the dishes tasted excellent!
Our server was could have been a robot and I wouldn't have noticed a difference. Excusable if they were in a rough / stressful situation, otherwise would have loved to see more engagement.
Best creme brule I've ever had since it didn't taste like burnt sugar, perfectly caramelized.
All other food was great. Wines were quality.
Atmosphere was enjoyable and not loud. Beautiful views.
Excellent service & meals were very good. Long time server was fantastic, very engaged and helpful. We’ll be back!
first time having dinner at Hillside -- have stopped in for lunch many times. The dinner menu has more large plates, less sharing options. Still very enjoyable. My husband and I split the bone in pork loin and I loved it altho he thought it was just good. Our friends very much enjoyed their pork belly and scallop dish. We ordered a gorgeous bottle of wine to go with dinner; loved it so much we bought 2 more to take home. Wished we could have done a proper tasting before dinner but tasting hours and dinner service hours don't overlap at all.
Beautiful view and lovely meal for two! Wine was decent, food was better!
This quaint bistro with stunning lake views and fabulous wine and pairing suggestions is my favourite spot on the Naramata Bench. Eat the bread!!
Beautiful patio, delicious farm-to-table style food, great service and everything at a very reasonable value! We’ve been here 4-5 times now and always love our experience here! Definitely a little hidden gem in Penticton. We look forward to our next visit!
Absolutely amazing food, wine and service! Our favourite place in Naramata.
Service and food were amazing. Everthing we ate was presented and cooked to perfection. And the view was spectacular. Would definently recommend this place.
Friendly staff. Great view. Amazing food!
The food was AMAZING!!! Coming here is always one of the highlights of our summer. Our waiter was fabulous, the service was great, wine was excellent & we love their patios! The upper patio has a gorgeous view, the lower patio is also nice but no view from there. I would absolutely recommend Hillside Winery. Make sure to make a reservation early, they book up quickly.
It was great. They called ahead to say the upper patio was closed due to smoke and offered us lower patio out or inside. We chose the latter and it was very comfortable. Our waitress Wendy was excellent and well informed regarding the wine and menu. Very good food especially the gnocchi -outstanding.
We had not been since the new chef arrived. Lots of menu choices to try next time
Decadent! Beautiful place and food. Will be back soon!
For us the stars of the night were the fresh baked focaccia (highly recommend for any bread lovers), the pork belly & scallops (perfectly cooked with great balance from the pickled cabbage), and the smoked salmon perogies (surprisingly light and delicate flavours paired with salmon roe) , . As far as constructive criticisms go, the pavlova was a bit too sweet for our tastes, the crab mac & cheese was under-seasoned, and using rock crab didn't add as much flavour as dungeness would. Overall still a great dining experience though and would definitely return!
From start to finish Hillside Bistro was an amazing experience! You get hit with an amazing aroma of wine as you walk up to the hostess and see get a peak into the wine making process as you catch a glimpse of the stainless steel fermenting tanks. The menu is small but versatile with not a bad item on it. You can't choose wrong with anything but the bang for buck you get on the 3 course dinner for two and wine paring is incredible. Highly recommend Hillside Bistro to any one looking for the perfect family dinner, friends night or date night.
Great romantic place with lovely food and great view.
Great experience. Our server even brought us blankets when it was getting chilly and moved us to another table with a view.
We enjoyed our tasting here more so than our other stops in the area. Beautiful setting and Marilou made the experience pleasurable. So much so that we joined their wine club. Looking forward to many more bottles of their whites.
Had a very disappointing experience. The location is beautiful, the wine excellent, the service friendly, and the little food we had was good quality. However. We booked a dinner for our party on the last night of our vacation. Just after our wine and bread arrived, there was a power cut. The server was very upset when she came to tell us that the kitchen was dark and the chef couldn't cook, and said she "wanted to cry". We sat in the dark on the terrace and finished our wine. Then we saw the table next to us being served hot food (it turns out they were friends of the Chef?). Overall the servers were friendly, and of course the power cut couldn't be helped. But the management handled it very poorly. The management should have made an announcement to the restaurant - but as it was the servers were hung out to dry and seemed unsupported. We were not offered money off our bill as an apology, or even complimentary extra bread as an acknowledgement that it was 9 o'clock and we had to leave without any dinner. Seeing other people served food from an apparently closed kitchen stung. It was clear that the bottom line was the only thing that mattered to the management, and there was no consideration to being hospitable in the bad times as well as the good. (My family owns restaurants so I understand the challenges of the restaurant industry). It left us upset and with the firm conviction that we will never go back, or recommend the restaurant to anyone else. A real shame.
My sincere apologies for the poor experience and the power outage certainly thru us some confusion to deal with for the evening! I will be following up personally and hope to make this right for you. Kind regards, Lisa Hendeson Director of Food & Beverage Hillside Winery & Bistro
Our first time experience was awesome. Staff very friendly and accommodating when we had to move inside due to weather. Beautiful grounds and flowers. Food excellent and our server was very pleasant. Highly recommend
Service was outstanding. The hostess and our server were super.
Had the best time at Hillside’s bistro. Good food, good wine, good service and great view. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Okanagan; it’s a
A wonderful spot and a new discovery for us. We loved our dinner surounded by vinyards and an amazing view... a gentle breeze made it for a beautiful summer night out.
The food was good, the service was personable and engaging.
We loved Hillside Bistro and will be back soon.
