With a gracious welcome, we encourage you to sample, share and pair for the ultimate dining experience. Enjoy!
Terrific food and service. A very enjoyable experience.
We took our sister in the afternoon for her 40th Birthday. The service food and wine were excellent. I recommend the walnut pate. Loved our lunch.
The setting on the bench is beautiful and the dining room feels comfortable. Service was very good. The risotto was underwhelming at best. Meatballs were average and were a bit tough. Prices a bit on the high side. Give it a try though.
Service impeccable, food (calamari, Brie, sausage) sharing plates outstanding!
Great experience. All four of us really enjoyed our meals and our server was very friendly and helpful.
Wonderful experience great service friendly and efficient. Food was ready much quicker that I expected (which was a good thing)
The owner dropped by which was nice.
Menu provided a great choice without being to many. Servings were a nice size and very well presented. Liked the choose and share. Will be back for sure!
We were trying to find a restaurant where we could dine and do some wine pairing on the Saturday PM (on the Festival of the Grape weekend.) So glad we found Hillside!
Great, friendly service - knowledgeable about both food and wine.
Loved the Share and Pair menu ($45). The brie, lentil croquettes, and pasta were really nummy!
Suggestion: those who have been wine tasting all day could use some bread (etc) to snack on as the lovely meal is being prepared in the kitchen - it was just a bit of a wait before the first course came - but worth it!!
The 2016 Merlot is to die for.
Thanks so much for such a great experience.
WOW! The food and wine pairing was amazing. The tapas style menu that was created for our table made decision making a snap and everything was so delicious. I am still dreaming of the walnut pate with the apricot honey and the roasted beets with cilantro pesto. Each of the dishes were wonderful and it was topped off by an incredible sampling of petit four made in house. To top it all off our server was incredible. We don't know what she does at Apex in the winter months but they are lucky to have her. She was knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs and was very personable and game to answer our unending list of questions.
Friends over from Europe
Wonderful, staff were pleasant and knowledgable, food was great, atmosphere was perfect.
Will recommend to friends.
Great anniversary lunch!
Food & service far exceeded my expectations. Thoroughly impressed.
Great patio lunch stop while wine tasting. Food was excellent, portions rich with servings on the small side.
The food was Mediocre at best. My husband have been to many restaurants that serve tapas but this experience was not a good one. The only really good thing that we got was an order of beets. I had ordered calamari and the server did not tell me that it was not battered and deep-fried. When I sent it back telling her that I didn’t like it it was a taste and texture thing she didn’t apologize and it was not taken off of our bill. She told me it happens a lot with the calamari... I didn’t expect it to be fully taken off her bill but some type of credit or throw in dessert or sonething. Overallnot a good experience. We will not be back.
Service was amazing. Food was good, the menu was lacking some variety and would like to see the main course choices come with sides of some sort
Our last visit was not up to much so it was with trepidation that we went again this year. Glad we
did because our food was much better than before, and a much more pleasant server than previously. Rather on the pricey side, but was enjoyable.
Things have changed at Hillside, and not for the better. We used to look forward to our dinners here, but the change of menu to a shared tapas style is underwhelming. Perhaps it's the new menu or maybe the change in kitchen staff, but there are better choices on the bench and Penticton proper to choose Hillside as a must do when in the area.
Having the upper patio open instead of the lower one would have improved our experience just because the view from the upper patio is phenomenal. We did find the service to be impeccable and the food was excellent. Overall, we will definitely go back but may check that the upper patio is open before we go.
Best food by far but it was quite pricy for the amount you get. The wine was amazing. We had a flight of white wine for 18$ (that includes 3 white wines). We needed up buy a couple bottles as well.
Excellent experience . Wine and food pairings were first class. Like the small scale ambience and personal connection to the vineyard.
Beautiful location. Great place for sharing many different dishes.
Spectacular experience as always! The food was great! We ordered the beef carpaccio, the Arctic char, and the slow roasted pork. Everything was farm-to-table style and absolutely delicious! The view on the patio was fantastic! It started to rain but they covered us with a huge umbrella. We were able to watch a gorgeous sunset during dinner. It was warm, a little rainy, and with clear views of the sunset. I also ordered the bistro white wine (really delicious) and my boyfriend got the hillside iced coffee (also very nice but nothing too special). We love our experience here every time! We can’t wait to come back when we find ourselves here in wine country.
We had an absolutely delicious meal. The view is gorgeous and the service was friendly and warm. We will definitely be back!!
Dinner for our first anniversary, and we may have found the place to celebrate the many more to come! Excellent food and a breathtaking view. Superb!
Great dining experience, menu is good, small portion sizes, friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend and will go again.
They were accommodating to gluten free diets and always followed up with the requests.
Very nice venue, food very good. Wine was overpriced.
Beautiful venue overlooking Lake Okanagan. Our server was personable and knowledgeable. We decided on the chefs menu with pairings. Food and pairings arrived together and were absolutely delicious.
Highly recommend this gem
Love the view and the wine selection.
Food is typically good here and service is always excellent.
Great all around. Being in the evening, there was no lighting close to our table so reading the menu and eating were a bit of a challenge...
I booked a table two weeks in advance. When we got their the hostess said take them to table 201, waitress said oh someone is there. We sat at the worst table and right by where the waitresses gather and they were very noisy. The calamari was very dry, no dips. We also heard another couple was very disappointed where they were sat, after seeing the waitresses move another table to a great view for someone else.
This is first come first serve.
Great dinner with an amazing view. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Perfect timing of the courses. Great food
What a lovely place to sit and enjoy the scenery of Naramata. We missed the wine tasting but enjoyed a half litre of Pinot Noir which was delicious.
Best fish tacos I’ve had in a long time.
I always like to try something unique so had the walnut pate-delicious. One of the best places for a birthday lunch
Beautiful dinner on the patio, warm summer night, great Viognier....and the price was unbelievably low!
Good food, great views, pleasant service. Overall great experience.
The food was delicious but a bit carb heavy. You definitely need to get dessert though! Service was great and their patio is beautiful. Great setting.
Great options, even considering my gluten allergy!
