Hillside Supper Club Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were greeted and seated upon arrival. Our wine and entrees were served in a timely manner, the hosts were cheery and welcoming, and the food was incredibly fresh, warm, and delicious. We look forward to returning when we are in this area again.
Delish. Trout and Porkchops were tasty and perfectly cooked. Miso veggies out of their world! Salads were a bit of a miss, good dressing but a bit small. Choc egg was super special. Peanut butter ice cream and spice cake were fine. The red wines by the glass all had a funky similarity and we couldn’t find something a bit smoother.
I don't usually write reviews (I never do), but when I do, I write them because the restaurant was super bomb. The food was outstanding! And the owner/chief (John) took time out of his day to talk with us and recommend nearby bars/attractions. Thanks guys. You rock.
This is maybe my third time here, now having been here in three different seasons and watched how the menu changed ... really fantastic this time. House special homemade orrechiette in a mustard cream sauce was to die for. Meatball appetizer was melt-in-your-mouth great. Great wine and beer selects. The charcuterie this time was all game proteins which I don't love, but their selections (and cheese options) are creative and adventurous.
This was a very fun place to try.
They serve reimagined comfort food with more sophistication, farm to table, organic, sustainable and seasonally fresh food. They are super accommodating to food sensitivities. The staff is very warm and friendly. Our wine was really delicious (Pinot). We had a wonderful time.
Brought my better half for a romantic anniversary dinner and what a find! Ambiance is phenomenal, food & drink exquisite, very attentive service and knowledgeable staff. We are looking forward to coming back for one of their themed tasting menus! Thank you for the great time we absolutely adore Hillside Supper Club.
We really enjoyed ourselves at Hillside. Surprisingly, this was our first time there, being that we live not far away and visit Precita Park often. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Food was one of the best meals in recent times. It was creative, seasonal, fresh, beautiful to look at and the flavors were yum. Definitely on our rotation of regular places to go now.
We've passed by this place many times but always forget to try. This time, we remembered since my husband's Chariot lets him off almost right in front. The service was friendly, but the menu was limited. A couple of the dishes we wanted were sold out by 7:30 pm (this was a Thursday evening). The focaccia bread was outstanding (we had 2 servings), but the rest of the meal was just so-so. Probably good as a go-to for the neighborhood, but not worth a special trip.
Food was creative and excellent, except for a bit too much salt on the pasta, but still was delicious. The portions are really small and I'm not a big eater. The prices which are already a bit high for Bernal Heights. Don't split orders or you will go hungry! But all that being said, it is a lovely, romantic place with good service.
This place was awesome - great food, service and ambiance. We went for dinner and had the grilled squid and meatballs to start - both excellent, the squid was cooked perfectly - and then we both had the trout as an entree - also excellent. We were particularly pleased with the service we received. Our waiter was super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this place to others, and look forward to our next visit.
The problem with giving recommendations is that everyone will want to go and I won't get a seat! This tucked away gem gave a comforting vibe, friendly atmosphere and just the right amount of server service. The food was phenomenal, from the "pop tart" and egg surprise. We decided to share plates amongst us because there were so many good things on the many we all couldn't decided just on our own plate.
Taste was great, presentation was instagramable (apparently thats a word). Price was a little on the high side all things considered, but I'd still go back.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in the city and a well kept secret
Chefs Jonathan and Tony are truly creative and dedicated to their craft
There should be a line out the door
But I'm glad there isn't!
A setting that is warm and unpretentious
Service that is attentive and caring
Even the desserts are artisan quality
Go if you haven't yet gone
You'll be glad you did
We're total fans! Tony and Jonathan's place is on our short list of great places in SF along with Trestle, Blue Plate, Al's Place, Locanda, Flour & Water, La Ciccia, etc.
The menu is filled with creative & imaginative dishes that delight the palate without pretentiousness. One of the greatest challenges for a restaurant is not just great food but being consistent at it and Hillside hits a grand slam.
One of the best things about finishing a evening at Hillside is looking forward to returning.
