The Supper Club is a bit of charming old San Francisco. I loved the candle light and cozy ambiance. I was also thrilled that the music was turned down to a level that left it comfortably in the background without intruding into our conversation, even though it was hip-hop/rap which was oddly out of character with the restaurant. The food benefitted most from fresh delicious ingredients. What was lacking was the sophistication and technical precision that so many other SF restaurant kitchens offer. There were some dishes that just didn’t work at all, like delicate scallops with heavy savory lentils. The strawberry shortcake was a total failure—a gritty, salty, hard crunchy biscuit topped with sour cream along with some fresh cut strawberries. I prefer desserts that are not too sweet, but this just didn’t work. The Hillside Supper Club is great neighborhood place for a decent meal. It is a bit overpriced and overrated based on our experience.
Shhhhh! Don’t tell anyone about this magnificent neighborhood
Not enough options
Another great meal at Hillside Supper Club! As a frequent diner at various restaurants in the Bay Area, I’ve found it’s hard to match the combination of food quality, friendly atmosphere, and value at HSC!
We come here pretty often. Always consistently good. No amuse this time, wonder why they stopped that. It was a nice treat. My husband wasn't thrilled with his pasta dish and salad, but I think he was planning on getting the pot pie, which is always amazing and regretted not doing so. I loved my soup and scallop entree. Great service is always appreciated and they have that!
The staff couldn’t have been nicer. They were very welcoming and helpful. The room is charming, a long time Precita location. Parking was not difficult. The wait for our main course of vegetarian pot pie and lamb pot pie was longish and, like many pot pies, sparse inside although my crust was delicious the other was too dark. For the price they could have put more lamb and veges in.
I've been here several times, and had a very good experience each time. i particularly like the duck liver mousse appetizer.
Perfect place for a family reunion, relaxed, had a living room feel and excellent food. We all enjoyed it.
Was out with some friends on a double date. The food was okay, but nothing blew us away. We had the steak tartare and Focaccia to start then the veggie pot pie, chicken pot pie, scallops, and spaghetti with bacon. Focaccia was fresh but over salted with not ton of flavor while the tartare was just good but unmemorable. Potpies had a fair amount of filling each with nice flakey crusts but again, a little too salty. The scallops were perfectly cooked to temp but the rest of the dish was underwhelming. Pasta was very light and tasted heavily of the pecorino it was covered in.
All in all, love the ambiance and like what they are trying to do there. The staff was friendly and attentive. But we were just not impressed by the food and didn’t think it was worth the value.
Might try the tasting menu or corkage free Monday to get a little more value if we come back.
Our experience was outstanding. The food was creatively and expertly prepared and the service was great.
I struggled with the rating because I didn't want to share this absolute GEM with anyone else. Seriously!! I literally live on the 'other side' of town and rarely branch out, but I am SO glad that I did. Brought my girlfriend here to console her after the loss of her beloved Yorkie and we were both VERY pleased and then some. Food was EXCELLENT, service very good, ambiance was soothing. I HIGHLY recommend.
It was freezing
We wanted to try a new brunch spot and Hillside Supper Club did not disappoint. The service was friendly and prompt and the menu was fun. We knew we wanted to try the home made pop tart even before we arrived. Today’s version was apple; it was amazing. The pastry was flaky and the inside was hot and well cooked. I think our table of 7 had at least 3! My honey loved their beer selection and I appreciated the fresh squeezed oj in my mimosa. The thick bacon was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. My mom ordered savory bread pudding, I tried the Cincinnati Goetta, and my better half chose the chicken and waffle with jalapeño. There was so much more;get down here!
Fantastic neighborhood gem of a restaurant with superb food! You must go !

Hillside Supper Club has a great breakfast and brunch!
Secluded quiet table in upper section. Lovely foie gras prep. Delish pork chop with bruss. sprouts. Sweet apple tart. Overall a tasty time at HSC.
This place was recommended as a great date spot, and that it was. The wait staff was amazing, the food was original and tasty and the ambiance was a perfect setting. I have already recommended this place to several people, and will be visiting them again very soon.
Went for Valentines Day dinner. Prix Fixe menu was way overpriced for the quality and portions ($79/person) and the food was average at best. Would not recommend or return.
The food was good but not amazing. The service, while friendly, was inattentive. The problem is that instead of having one person pay attention to you, there were four people waiting on you. This mean we had to hunt the waiter(s) down and remind them for minor things like drinks, bread, dessert, another drink. After you ordered a drink, they’d forget, and you’d have to hunt them down and remind them.
The space however is cozy and and has nice warm lighting. The food was good, but nothing special. I could easily had made better food at home.
My date and I were amazed at the quality of the food and service at Hillside Supper Club.
Outstanding in every way. Can't wait to return!
One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood, with some of the friendliest staff around!!
Fabulous place, very friendly chef, staff and sommelier. Love this place.
Great place, wonderful service! Will definitely be back. Food had a lot of uniqueness and knowing that the menu will change on a frequent basis is a cool thing
Great food. Great service. Great restaurant.
Cute place with quality food but portions were very small. Entrees felt like appetizer sizes
Loved the food! Also, the staff went out of their way to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.
Once again Hillside Supper Club delivers a truly great meal and dining experience. This is what all neighborhood joints should be: fun, with friendly and professional service, serving great food and wine in a casual atmosphere. Three cheers to the crew, here's to five more years!
This restaurant is the best food at this price point in San Francisco. It is truly a dining adventure with a lovely neighborhood atmosphere.
Love this place and never disappointed with the excellent food and wine choices
We celebrated New Year’s Eve at this wonderful restaurant with one of our adult children. Outstanding and innovative 4 course seafood menu with wine pairings. Highly recommend!
Get out of the City traffic without leaving the City! Perfect cute spot for drinks and appetizers with friends! Will return for sure! Thank you, Hillside!
My wife and I were greeted and seated upon arrival. Our wine and entrees were served in a timely manner, the hosts were cheery and welcoming, and the food was incredibly fresh, warm, and delicious. We look forward to returning when we are in this area again.
Great place! Lovely ambience and extremely fresh and unique food pairings.
Delish. Trout and Porkchops were tasty and perfectly cooked. Miso veggies out of their world! Salads were a bit of a miss, good dressing but a bit small. Choc egg was super special. Peanut butter ice cream and spice cake were fine. The red wines by the glass all had a funky similarity and we couldn’t find something a bit smoother.
We had such a great time at HSC. The staff made us feel welcome and special on our anniversary. Food and wine recommendations were excellent and we enjoyed every dish. We will definitely return!
The menu looked so different, but the waitress was great explaining everything... I did not like the chardney wine.. but everyone's dinner was delicious..
Mixed bag. Salads were great. Charcuterie plate was a huge disappointment. Foie gras had overwhelming sour notes. Service was slow. Overall an ambitious restaurant that doesn't execute well.
Great food and excellent service. Would recommend
I don't usually write reviews (I never do), but when I do, I write them because the restaurant was super bomb. The food was outstanding! And the owner/chief (John) took time out of his day to talk with us and recommend nearby bars/attractions. Thanks guys. You rock.
This is maybe my third time here, now having been here in three different seasons and watched how the menu changed ... really fantastic this time. House special homemade orrechiette in a mustard cream sauce was to die for. Meatball appetizer was melt-in-your-mouth great. Great wine and beer selects. The charcuterie this time was all game proteins which I don't love, but their selections (and cheese options) are creative and adventurous.
