hiko-A-mon Modern Japanese Sushi Bar & Fish Market Ratings and Reviews
I love the food, and I visit frequently, but this time our service was horrible. The food as always was delicious. It was my son's first time, so he was surprised because we had raved about it. He did enjoy the food. When I return, if they give me the waitress I had I will ask to sit at another table.
I made a reservation for a birthday dinner with my wife and another couple. I was disappointed to discover, they had no table set up for us and never mentioned her birthday, though I asked for a special table for her special birthday dinner. The food was great as expected, but there was no effort to help create a special birthday dinner for my wife
The service was very slow however that could have been due to Mother's Day. The food as always was great and neatly presented and prepared. It is a great small place to find great sushi at a reasonable price, there is always an assortment which leaves room for adventure in trying new things. I recommend I a reservation on weekend nights or you might have to wait a little. If you have to wait I would take a look at the bar and relax and watch some sushi being made.
We had a party of 5 for Mother's Day (6 if you count our 3 month old). The server was very inattentive to our table, but was polite. However, the food was phenomenal. Everything from the snapper appetizer to the bento box and ahi tuna dinner was well prepared and fresh. We will definitely give it another shot on a regular evening.
The food is always so delicious here. You can truly taste how fresh everything is. It also comes across as very authentic to me as a fan of Japanese food.
The atmosphere has a somewhat modern decor, but not so fancy that you'd feel out of place in jeans. The service is friendly; the food is delicious and served in a timely manner.
We have eaten here several times. The sushi is fresh, and well prepared. This is my daughter and son in laws favorite sushi restaurant. They have a good selection. Although they are always busy, the service is fast. Nothing special about the ambiance. It is located in a strip mall. Sometimes it is a bit noisy, but never drowns out the conversation. We will continue to eat sushi here.
So the restaurant itself is nice, it has a good atmosphere. It wasn't very busy at the time when we went in, but the service was slow. The server was nice, and she did attend to my needs, but it took a while to get our drinks, to get our order taken, to get our food. The presentation of my sushi rolls was lacking. Some of them weren't completely rolled, there was so much topping to one of my sushi rolls that it seemed as if there was more topping than actual sushi. Overall its a nice place, but I was not impressed for the price I paid
The food here is always outstanding which is why we return, but our service on this particular evening was almost non-existant! Our server was either having a bad night, or she just kept forgetting about us. We received the wrong beers, but she took so long to get back to us we decided it was best to forge on and drink them. When we finally got our second sushi menu for the second set of guests so they could order, and second round of drinks, we were finally able to order but it was another long wait before she came back. Once we ordered, the food seemed to take a longer time than usual getting to us. But I think that was because we ordered so much later than the table that had been seated after us, watching their food come out before ours was making our wait seem longer. Our sushi was brought out by another server, so it wasn't until we were almost finished that we were checked on by our waitress again. She then brought us another incorrect beverage, and our tickets were wrong. Not the end of the world and not a big deal, but on top of the long waits for service throughout the night it was frustrating end. Overall, a nice evening with friends and good food, but the service really brought it down. Again, everyone has an off night, and I bet this was just hers.
Server was excellent, but kitchen was backed up and we waited over 60 minutes for sushi. Overall quality of the food was very good, but felt we waited a long time. Went there for my daughter's birthday - put it in our reservation and mentioned it to the hostess. Either forgot, or was too busy to say happy birthday.
We have been to hike-A-mon several times. We find the sushi, rolls, salad to be consistently very good. Prices are OK; it does add up when ordering multiple rolls. We particularly love their salad dressing for their house salad. Well worth ordering.
On this visit our service was exceptional. Service has generally been good, but last night was excellent.
I'm sure there are other good places for sushi in Louisville, but this is close and consistently very good. I highly recommend it.
