hiko-A-mon Modern Japanese Sushi Bar & Fish Market
Everything was excellent!
A very nice meal that was worth the money.
We think Hiko-A-mon has the tastiest sushi in Louisville! We love the Bluegrass, Sunset, and Valentine's rolls. No visit is complete without the small hiko-A-mon salad with peanut ginger dressing. As always, a fantastic fresh dining experience!
We've been going to this location for several years for lunch and dinner. The prices are reasonable, the service is good, and the food is fresh and tasty. Great place!
I would recommend to a friend if they only wanted Sushi. The shashimi and nigiri were very good. Other meals were just mediocre or way too salty. We did have a wonderful waitress.
We love Hiko-A-Mon! We started with the small Hiko-A-Mon salad with it's yummy ginger/peanut dressing. My husband had the Bluegrass roll (his absolute fav!) and the Sunset roll (refreshing with the lemon slice on top). I had the Valentine's roll (spicy and alternates between tuna and salmon on top). Everything was fresh, tasty and presented beautifully! Mary our server was very good and very cheerful! Can't wait to go back!!
Excellent food, wonderful service, consistently best sushi experience in town
It was great as always! Love happy hour.
Always amazing food and service
Went there for our 55th anniversary. As usual, food and service were outstanding. The manager (who we consider to be a friend) took time to congratulate us and insisted we take a special dessert. It came with hot tea and even though we did not need additional calories, we finished every bite.
We love the place and go often. The sushi rolls are great. My wife won’t eat raw fish but there are plenty of alternative rolls. I like their whole squid. Very few places locally serve it.
We’ll be back soon.
We stopped in here from Chicago on our way to Nashville. I looked up Japanese restaurants in the Louisville area and this place was highest rated. I will tell you that the reason is clear. I was swayed by the pictures of the sushi on trip advisor. The food was absolutely top-notch. They had everything from sashimi to udon to yaki soba. These were flavors that you would find in Japan. This is the only Japanese-owned, Japanese restaurant in Louisville. While I dont necessarily think that you need to be Japanese to have a sushi restaurant, it helped in this case when I tasted the udon broth. The yaki soba was transcendent with familiar flavors that we know from one of our favorite places in Chicago. I had a small sample of some sushi staples i.e. hamachi, mackerel and tuna. It was melt-in-your-mouth and the rice was packed neatly into a perfect piece of sushi. We also had a spider roll which is one of our somewhat guilty pleasures. The crab was hot and again, the tightness of the roll indicates quality in which case this was tops. I’ve been a lifelong eater of Japanese cuisine as my father is from Japan. He wasn’t there but if I did bring him here I think he would be quite the happy Japanese camper ;-)
Great sushi and great service. Great family place or date night.
As always great sushi!
Very nice experience for both my wife and I. Highly recommend
We love hiko-A-mon!! We both had a small hiko-A-mon salad with their wonderful ginger peanut dressing! We had 3 sushi rolls: Valentine's, Sunset and Bluegrass. Each of the rolls was presented beautifully and we're fresh and tasty. Our server (Brian ... I think) was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!
I was excited to visit the restaurant on my birthday, but was underwhelmed by how busy the only waitress was and how she exuded unfriendliness. Also, the presentation of the sushi, while it tasted good, was lacking in creativity. My mother ordered a hibachi shrimp fried rice, and the shrimp were not good – they were lacking in seasoning other than soy sauce and had a slight burnt taste to them. We brought my 5-month-old and there was no changing station in either bathroom, so I had to change him in one of the two private party rooms on a chair so he would not be seen by diners – one of the staff members came in to continue to fold napkins and was noticeably unhappy about what i was doing. I will not go back to this particular restaurant, as there are many better choices close to the area.
Good food, they forgot one of our orders, but overall, very good!
Experience was great. This is our go-to sushi spot in the east end. Food & service is always great.
Great service and amazing sushi. One of the first places to read the “special request” section of the reservation. Didn’t say a word the waiter and he brought out birthday ice cream at the end of the night. Wondering experience.
Best ramen and house salad!
Always good food and service. Happy hour prices and choices a great.
Good value. Food is very good
Very fresh and good sushi. We went for dinner on Saturday night and shared a few rolls. We really enjoyed our food and our server. Will come back for sure !
Perfect miso soup, Japanese salad with the BEST dressing, and the sushi rolls were tasty. Our friend loved her sashimi items. A great night. Thanks.
Delicious fresh food but unfriendly service. Sushi and menu is creative, and there is a nice selection for lunch at fairly reasonable prices.
This one of our top five restaurants. Fabulous authentic dishes. Everything is excellent. The staff are warm and appropriately attentive.
My go to sushi-ya for more than a dozen years. Nobody does it better.
We always enjoy the sushi here but i will say that for the price of the rolls they could be made a little bit bigger. Sometimes they are a decent size but sometimes they are pretty dinky and you pay good money for them. Im sure it depends on the sushi chef but consistency would be nice and more for your money would help me come back more often. That said, the rolls are delicious!
Fast service but very bland taste and small portions of a variety of sushi rolls we ordered and miso soup.
Birthday dinner with my family.
The sushi was very fresh and the selection of other items make Hiko-Mon a very good choice for diverse palates. The service was very good for our party of six.
Good food- felt rushed when trying to enjoy a glass of wine before ordering . My waitress kept coming to the table asking if I was ready - more than normal.
Always perfect! ❤️
Very enjoyable and the food was delicious!
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back again.
Food and service were good. Large table of ten or twelve young people were very noisy. Ambiance in room is okay but food is the important part.
The fish was very good quality, but they stated on the phone that they have a gluten friendly menu. Not really. Every sauce has gluten in it. So it was a lot of fish and rice with gluten free soy sauce for us.
Best sushi in a town with good sushi. Service on point. Other menu items above the line as well.
Great sushi and service!
