Best Sushi I have had! Got the tornado roll and the Las Vegas roll! Will return here next time I am in Louisville!!
We arrived to the restaurant at 7:30 and didn’t receive our meals until 8:45. What we ate was good, but the wait was pretty extreme. We sat in a separate room at a cool table that was low to the floor, but it had a broken water feature in it and everyone in our party thought it was really hot in there. Overall, I felt like we paid a lot for a not so great evening.
Food was excellent and service very good. The quiet atmosphere suited our family gathering of 7. The only disappointing aspect was the limitations of cocktails available. However it would not stop me from coming back...next time I’ll get sake.
Service was awesome and sushi was amazing. Plus, our server even read my note in my reservation to my wife. 😁
Best sushi in Louisville! I’ve been trying every Japanese restaurant in town for years trying to find one I love and finally did with this place.
It was a girls night out and we wanted to try something new. I will be going back again soon. It's a small place but the food was EXCELLENT!!!! I highly recommend trying it!!
I could have got better sushi at the grocery store. It was below average, restaurant smelled like mildew, and service was slow. Would not return.
Business lunch - food and service were both great.
Amazing food in a cozy, modern setting. Doesn’t look like much from outside but we were pleasantly surprised. Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the Midwest.
It was great! Good food, good service! I recommend it.
Server lady was very attentive and nice. Food quality was decent for Louisville. Bit pricey, but amount of food you will get is worth it.
Loved our meals and apps. Great Yaki Soba and Ramen, very friendly staff. We will be back!
When one thinks of Louisville, KY, sushi is not usually the first food that comes to mind, or not even the second or third. So the it is perhaps time to think again. Louisville is the home of UPS air so if finding fresh fish is not only easy, but plentiful. At this small downtown establishment you will find a good selection of whatever has been flown in that day, artfully prepared and tastefully delivered. And you know it's fresh, because when it's gone, it's gone. Give it a try.
Come here every time I am in Louisville for work, usually bring customers or coworkers and have consistently good service and delicious sushi- recommend Made in Japan roll. It’s a small restaurant but my server is always attentive and courteous. Not sure why other reviewers have provided negativity as I’ve always had positive experiences at Hiko-A Mon. I’ll be back for sure!
There was absolutely no one in the restaurant and we waiting an hour and 20 min to get our food (half of which was then wrong). Very disappointing.
If I could give a negative I would. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant. The food was flavorless, and loaded with butter, which made me ill before we even left the building.
The food was fantastic. Not much as far as ambiance, but it is very authentic. We started with the Red Snapper Carpaccio which was sliced very thin and in a wonderful citrus vinegar base. We also had the tempura shrimp and vegetables. A little heavy on the tempura, but served with a nice dipping accent. My two other colleagues and I split the Futomaki Roll, Fire Dragon Roll and had Dinner B as well as Sushi Deluxe. We were hungry. Food was fresh and very tasty. Our waitress did a great job attending to our table.
Service was extremely poor. The restaurant was only half full and they had no menus to give us because they were all in use. Waited 20 minutes for menus and waters. Then ordered drinks and didn’t get them until 45 minutes later. There were only two servers who were also the bartenders. The Westport village location is way better.
Staff was over whelmed and unwelcoming. Hostess greeted us about 15 minutes after arriving, and then said give me a minute and returned about five minutes later. She then informed me that they didn’t know about my reservation on Opentable, and said it would be 50 more minutes before my table was ready, even though I had received a confirmation email over an hour prior.
Solid sushi in Downtown Louisville. Pretty reasonably priced too.
After 30minutes waiting the waitress came and told us we need to wait another 20-30minutes for our sushi; So we just left.
Food was amazing as usual. Service was a little slow.
Sat for an hour without ever getting our food, then were told that it would be an additional 30 to 45 minutes... so we left
Sushi is superb! Love Hik-A-Mon!
Highly recommend the ‘Made in Japan’ specialty roll, delicious! Friendly and prompt service, nice atmosphere for comfortable conversation. Great sushi spot in Louisville!
Horrible place, stay away. Booked dinner for a client meeting through open table for 615pm on a Wednesday. Showed up and place was dark and closed, even though house on the door said open. Even called # and recording stated operating hours. Complete embarrassment with perspective clients/ Should rename your place: Hiko - A - Never Again
Food was excellent. Good appetizers and and the sushi was great. Place was really quiet when we were there, but that’s wasn’t an indication of what we experienced. I’d go back, and would recommend it to you!
We enjoyed the very central location of this restaurant, and the food was good! Really enjoyed the hot sake and the surf and turf roll!
I made a reservation and was not seated after waiting 30 minutes. The host sat 6 people before me so I left. Very unprofessional and unacceptable.
Ramen was wonderful. Everyone loved what they ordered. We did go on a monday evening so there was only one server, who may have also been bar tending as well. But she did a good job of taking care of us. The atmosphere is very nice and inviting. Some in our (birthday) party were dressed up, some were completely casual.
All and all it was a great evening. We were rather surprised how dead it was for a 6:30pm on a Saturday night. We basically had the whole place to ourselves. The food was amazing. New Orleans role, Jennifer role and teriyaki chicken were all fantastic.
Went with some friends- great food!
A great place to celebrate my wife’s birthday!
Pre-concert dinner with girlfriends. Great food and service!
Dirty and sad. Did not have my reservation. And the place was empty. Sat us at a little table that was sticky
We made reservations for 8pm for two. When we arrived at 745pm there was no hostess. A party that made reservations for 745pm came in after us. We waited for a hostess until we flagged someone down at 8pm to be told they had no tables and to sit and wait. We did, but people eating at the bar started telling people they had waited an hour for their sushi rolls, and we never saw a bartender, and still no hostess. The lady waiting on other couch told us at 815pm that she had a carry out order and she had been sitting there for a hour. Still no hostess or bartender. Saw 3 servers for entire place who wouldn't make eye contact or respond when you tried to speak.
Did not honor reservation made through open table. Totally lacking organization. Don’t book through open table
Food was pretty good, but it took more than an hour and a half after ordering to receive it. Other customers were leaving before getting their food it was taking so long. After 3 attempts, the waitress couldn't get our bill right, so we gave up and just paid it. After all of that, we didnt get so much as an apology. It was quite honestly the worst service I've ever recieved at any restaurant in Louisville.
There were six people in our party. Reservation was for six pm. We arrived promptly at six pm and were immediately seated. A party of sixteen arrived just as we did and were also immediately seated. The server took about five minutes after being seated to grab drink orders. After getting drinks delivered, it was another twenty minutes before she came back for food orders. At this point, We had a feeling that things were not trending in the right direction. Two hours into this, I asked how much longer on food and she said “not enough people to serve everyone” and we noticed several tables getting up and leaving without their food. Food finally arrived around 8:20 and some of it was missing. We decided to take what we had and pay our bill. It’s too bad...the food we did receive was actually very tasty but if the customer service isn’t better, this place won’t last long term.
No attentive. Order was wrong. Prices were higher than other sushi restaurants. Would not go back
