Highlawn Pavilion Ratings and Reviews
Shrimp cocktail really had no flavour... husband steak was not tasty at all... people kept hitting my chair walking by and I couldn’t pull it in any closer to table ... waiters and quest did not even say I am sorry after hitting it... slightly disappointed.
Views are really nice but not really impressed with anything else. We sat down got the menus, ordered a drink and from then on we were asked every 2 minutes if we’re ready to order dinner. I have to tell him that I would call him when I’m ready. Food was unremarkable. Doubt will ever go back. If I drive same distance north/east (live in Union here) I’m in amuch better spot wehawken/Englewood lots of choices. I think that’s the problem, other the Manor they have no competition so they’re meh.
It was after New Year’s Eve. Restaurant was empty yet it took a long time to get our food. we were there for four hours Salads of kale and spinach were wilted and bland, entrees were fine but nothing special, menu choices sparce as compared to last visit, waiter was very nice- have dined here many times but this dining experience missed the mark. However, the view of the city is worth it and I will return.
We have gone to the Highlawn many times. We love the atmosphere and ambience, but think that the food could be varied and upgraded. Other comparable restaurants (for ex, like the Stone House in Warren) do a better job with their food- more interesting, etc. More specifically, your appetizers are quite good (esp shrimp cocktail, excellent). Your entrees are good but not exceptional (fish tends to be good, meats fair- the Fillet Mignon was tender but not very flavorful) and your desserts are overdone and really not appealing. You used to make a wonderful Apple Gallete ( I believe previous chef), and it really hasn't been replaced with anything comparable. Thanks for your request for information. David Miller
Excellent night of seafood. Halibut and red snapper entrees were prepared beautifully and served on very hot plates. Lobster risotto and due salmon appetizers were terrific.
Jumbo sundaes dominating the desserts.
Beautiful view of NYC always a holiday treat. Just one glitch of no Drambuie for Rusty Nail preparation.
My husband and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary the night we dined at the Highlawn Pavilion. We gad great seating by a window with an outstanding view of NYC. The waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was well prepared and delicious. Highly recommend this high-end restaurant.
Also, the decor was lovely and the gigantic Christmas Tree was fabulous. Well Done!!!
Everything we ate was fantastic! The seafood tasting platter could have had more lobster and snow crab instead of 1 piece of each, but the taste was exceptional. Cocktails and wine will really bring your bill up, and I think the food was fairly priced for its fine dining quality. We had the Filet Mignon and the Pisachio encrusted halibut, both were magnificent.
Another wonderful evening in the "bar" sitting at out favorite table;listening to the jazz trio--this night we ordered from the bar menu- the sliced skirt steak was perfectly cooked and delicious pair so nicely with great onion rings- the ice cream sundae was huge and delectable as was the cheese plate-- only misstep was the spring rolls-we love this place on friday nights
Superb menu with a good selection that changes with the season. Our waiter T Connelly was absolutely wonderful helping my wine loving ladyfriend with her selection, explained the specials accurately and provide extra whipped cream for her Irish Coffee. We had a table with a window and a view of the New York skyline. We could not have asked for more. It is one of the few dining experiences that exceeded our expectations!!!!
My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The food and wine were both fantastic! My wife enjoyed a delicious short rib, while I had a fantastic grilled veal chop! We complimented our dinner with an excellent Italian wine. The evening was tremendous! Thank you Highlawn Pavilion for a wonderful evening!
