Highlawn Pavilion Ratings and Reviews
Everything we ate was fantastic! The seafood tasting platter could have had more lobster and snow crab instead of 1 piece of each, but the taste was exceptional. Cocktails and wine will really bring your bill up, and I think the food was fairly priced for its fine dining quality. We had the Filet Mignon and the Pisachio encrusted halibut, both were magnificent.
Another wonderful evening in the "bar" sitting at out favorite table;listening to the jazz trio--this night we ordered from the bar menu- the sliced skirt steak was perfectly cooked and delicious pair so nicely with great onion rings- the ice cream sundae was huge and delectable as was the cheese plate-- only misstep was the spring rolls-we love this place on friday nights
Superb menu with a good selection that changes with the season. Our waiter T Connelly was absolutely wonderful helping my wine loving ladyfriend with her selection, explained the specials accurately and provide extra whipped cream for her Irish Coffee. We had a table with a window and a view of the New York skyline. We could not have asked for more. It is one of the few dining experiences that exceeded our expectations!!!!
My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The food and wine were both fantastic! My wife enjoyed a delicious short rib, while I had a fantastic grilled veal chop! We complimented our dinner with an excellent Italian wine. The evening was tremendous! Thank you Highlawn Pavilion for a wonderful evening!
Went here for our anniversary. Sat in the bar area before our reservation and a pianist was playing. The dining room was a lot louder than I expected it to be. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes was hard to hear your own conversation. All men here had a jacket on, this is a place you go to dress up. Food was excellent, so was service. Nice view of NYC.
very disappointed in the overall experience. Portions were small and very overpriced. you are basically paying for a view with adequate food. The dining room is dated and needs a major overhaul. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for more than a view....
My wife and I went to the High Lawn for dinner for our 48th anniversary. It could not have been better. We arrived a little early for our reservation, but our table was ready and waiting. We first had cocktails which were perfectly prepared. We both had the French Onion Soup. Excellent. The soup was hot, had plenty of cheese and was delicious. We followed with the lobster risotto which we shared. Absolutely delicious. For our entrees I had the grilled filet mignon, medium rare. It was "like butter". My wife had the short ribs, She normally does not order beef out. She decided to try something new. She raved about her entire meal. We erred slightly by ordering dessert. The problem was they were too good. And too large. We were full from dinner and could not finish the desserts which were also delicious. Our server acknowledged our anniversary. In conclusion, we could not have been more satisfied. The food was excellent as was the service. It was not an inexpensive meal, but, in our view, worth it. We will certainly be going to the High Lawn again. And again.
Everyone was satisfied with their selections and quality of food served, ambiance and service, however, our little 6 year- old had very few gluten free options. She has celiac disease and we realized it might be too much to ask for gluten free options and so we bought some sweet potato fries etc.- just to be on the safe side. Waiter was very gracious and understanding . Just wanted to make note about growing numbers of people who require "gluten free" options. There was one gluten-free dessert option and she almost ate the entire, very generous portion. Thanks so much for a most enjoyable evening!
I wanted to share my fiance's milestone birthday at a special venue and Highlawn Pavillion was the perfect place. From the moment we entered the beautifully appointed foyer, we felt welcomed and were ushered to a table by the window, just as I requested on the reservation. The view of the NYC skyline was spectacular as the sun's orange hues reflected off of the glass of the buildings as it was setting. What added to the ambiance was the pleasant waitstaff who were all very attentive, cordial and patient. We never felt rushed. The menu selection offered something for everyone making it difficult to select which meal to order. We enjoyed the burratta mozzarella accompanied by delicious freshly harvested tomatoes grown in their personal gardens. The Salmon was the best we've ever eaten, tender, along with the delicate sauce which made it a delectable choice. The tagliatelle was also amazing with a sauce that was not overpowering. It is one of the most delightful meals we have ever eaten. Thank you Highlawn for the perfect birthday memory!
I love the Highlawn Pavillion, having had our rehearsal dinner there 29 years ago. The food was delicious, Thomas was an awesome server, and he made our special occasion even better.
There were a few points on the downside however: no flowers or other centerpiece, so the table looked bare which at this price point is disappointing and I asked for a quiet table, but they put us right next to the kitchen. I also dislike that there are no tables for parties greater than 4 at the window.
Beautiful scenic view and good food with interesting options. It's not a big menu so if you have picky diners, they should check the menu first to be sure they'd like what's on it. Food was delicious and service very accommodating. Only negative is that at the time we left, we could hear super loud music coming from upstairs that was a bit intrusive that might have been from a wedding. (They have events here, also.) We were seated near the entryway which might be why we were able to hear it. But otherwise, enjoyable dinner.
From making reservations to the end of the night we had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. It was very nice that the staff dropped by our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary. I would definitely recommend it to our friends and families. LM
