Great brunch program if you like a little bit of Scotland :-)
Coming back! Nice Happy Hour menu and nice place overall
We have been to Highlands at least four times, and it has always been a very enjoyable experience. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and professional. The food was, as always, very good. Highly recommend Highlands!
Always a good meal at Highlands and the whiskey is wonderful. Great service.
Great Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu. My appetizer wasn’t great (crab cakes) but everything else for both our meals was terrific.
The beef Wellington was absolutely delicious. The prix fixe menu was a great choice for date night, and the desserts had such generous portions. The staff and service were quick and friendly. Would definitely go back for date night
Good food, clientele are a bunch of prats though. Great beef Wellington.
Used to be great. Now seems to be resting on its laurels. Slow service, many of the bottles on menu out of stock. Food was largely overcooked and overpriced
We absolutely LOVED Highlands! My best friend and I recently returned from a trip to Scotland and were craving more of the culture in NYC. When we found this restaurant we were so excited to try it. It did not disappoint! We had the beef Wellington for entrees which were delicious! For starters we had Blue Crab and Prawn Toast and the Scotch Egg. Both were phenomenal. The service was also great! And the atmosphere was amazing, we felt like we were back in the Highlands. Will definitely come back :)
The restaurant is aesthetically lovely but the food was a slight miss. The Pork Belly and Beef Wellington were drowned in a heavy sauce masking the flavors but the Sunday roast and Scotch Egg were good. If I was there for drinks, I feel the experience would have been night and day. They do have a great list of Scotch though.
Burger over cooked. Service was slow, did not make up for burger incorrectly delivered
Great food and drinks. Our server was friendly and attentive.
Great service from the manager. The beef Wellington is amazing.
Food and whisky are always amazing! The Beef Wellington never disappoints. The server was knowledgeable and helpful. I was only disappointed that the whisky flights have been significantly reduced in number and increased in price.
Andrey and his staff were outstanding. Fabulous food and experience. Worth the trip from Times Square.
What a great spot! Relaxed, cozy and super cute, Highlands is great for a night catching up with friends or a date. Theres a buzzy bar as you walk in and restaurant to the right.
The food is fantastic!
They can get very busy so book in advance.
Anniversary dinner...extremely loud and hard to have a conversation. We came here last year and had a much better experience. The food and drinks were stellar, but our server wasn’t attentive and seemed to brush us off.
The food took a long time but was very delicious
Great ambiance, great food, great service. I was disappointed that they were out of the 2 Scottish beers on the menu (the primary reason I came). While I will definitely go back, it seems odd that a place that prides and promotes itself so much as a Scottish gastropub would allow the Scottish tap to run dry.
Good drinks. Weak food. I would go back for the drinks but skip dinner. The scotch egg was good. Fish and chips were bad.
The food is nicely prepared and the whisky offerings are amazing. We were in Scotland a few years ago and was excited to get a taste of our wonderful trip. Highlands did not disappoint! :-)
Great food!
Service was a little slow when we ordered drinks. Overall, everyone had a great time and loved the intimate setting
Very popular place. Welcoming interior and happily we sat in adjacent room away from the busy bar. Had 2 krankie (sp?) drinks which were delicious. Scotch eggs were great as was the haggis for appetizers. We all 4 had the beef Wellington and loved every tender bite! Would have liked to have a veggie included on the plate besides just potatoes. Waiter was fine but a little unengaged. Overall, it was a good experience and we will definitely be back.
The restaurant is located near the metro so it’s really convenient to find the place. Their service is not so efficient but staffs are all helpful and passionate.
Foods are overall good, the crab is delicious, Wellington beef is a little salty but the smell of butter is really good and my fav is the chocolate dessert. It’s not so sweet and suitable for people who don’t have a sweet tooth.
The beef Wellington was good, as was The Godfather cocktail. Everything else was sub-par. We also ordered the pork belly and burrata appetizers, the potatoes and asparagus sides, and the sazerac, catholic guilt, and krankie cocktails - all nothing special. We also felt the service was off.
If you go, the beef Wellington won’t disappoint, and stick to the scotch menu.
The food was good, but a little noisy
We were here in Friday night meeting a large group. I had a reservation for two but the group organizer did not make a reservation. They had sat 8 and then managed to seat 9 of us on my reservation for two. The waiter was a saint. The food was a good value as well and also very good.
Wasn't sure what to expect, other than a West Village version of "Scottish cuisine" and single malts. But it was great. Service was friendly and informal but also competent and attentive. Pork belly pate, scotch egg, haggis -- all were delicious. Incredible single malt collection and themed tasting flights. Totally enjoyable.
Really enjoyed the experience. The music was a reasonable volume, the place is on a beautiful street, and the restaurant was cozy and well kept. The wait staff were phenomenal and the food was unique. I went for a Sunday brunch at 11:45am with one other person and we were so pleased. Highly recommended.
Friendly, warm, Nouvelle Scots place in the West Village. Nice chef, nice twists on Scots classics like kedgeree and scotch eggs. Fresh ingredients, inviting space...lovely overall. Great brunch menu, too.
Visiting from Boston and picked Highlands on the good reviews, the ability to make a reservation for 6, location, and my love of Scotland. We all LOVED the food, especially the mushroom and crab toasts, and the beef Wellington. The sticky toffee dessert was also great. Loved how it was decorated inside too. We’re not in NYC often but glad we found this place for a Saturday night!
Scotch egg and beef wellington were amazing, best food we ate in New York! There was a problem with the order machine so our dessert order was accidentally missed, but they took the drinks off the bill as a way of an apology. Servers were very friendly, and orders taken and food brought quickly. Would highly recommend Highlands
I had the chicken with. asparagus and artichoke hearts. Chicken is delicious when cooked to perfection and it was. There was a buttery sauce for the vegetables which was excellent. In our group of four one had trout and the other had beef Wellington. No complaints. This was a reunion of old friends and the low noise level made it easy for visiting. This was my first time to eat Scotch eggs and they were nothing special.
Overall a good evening. Not enough wait staff. Food was good but I had heard it was really good
We went for brunch and used a $39 brunch voucher. The ambiance was intimate. I’m not sure if the side with the bar was reserved for a party, but they crammed everyone in a small dinning area. So close you can hear the many conversations going on around you. Not that it mattered because the waitress is on point, friendly and made sure we got our worth in unlimited drinks. They also allow you to switch between a variety of strong drinks. The lamb burger was delicious and the dipping sauce made it even better. I would definitely recommend this place.
Amazing brunch!
Wonderful staff. Wonderful food. Wonderful whisky!
I’ve been here before and I like it for dinner but the brunch was disappointing. Food was way too salty. I also couldn’t get the Internet to work which annoyed me. The place was rather empty for the entire time we were there so I guess it’s not that popular for brunch. Prices are high.
Great food and drinks as always. Quiet evening this time around with many people out of town for the long weekend.
