Highlander Bar & Grill
Everything is always excellent.
We ate at the Highlander for the first time last Friday and wish we had gone there more often this summer. The ambience is great. There was live music at the perfect volume, and the band, called Just in Case, was a lot of fun. The food was excellent and we couldn't have asked for better service from Gloria. She made our night. In fact, we made reservations for this week before we left!
We love the fun atmosphere of this place. Service is great and food is also great. Can't beat the Friday or Saturday live music.
Tried to send a message about the poor service and no response. Steak cut was not what was advertised and insanely overpriced.
1st timer at the Highlander Bar & Grill, so didn't know what to expect. But read sum good reviews, so thought I'd give the place uh try. And it did not disappoint. Great scenery, great staff & great food. Going back next time I'm in the Helena area!
We enjoyed the music by Jeremy and Adell Duo . Very talented folks however it was too loud to visit or hear each other at our table of four.
Ribeye over priced & over cooked. 3/4 cup of garlic mashed potatoes & 2 overcooked limp asparagus served with meal was not nearly enough nor appetizing. Served incorrect mixed drinks which I thought were just made with poor quality alcohol One free dessert offered for overcooked steak & incorrect mixed drinks. Servers seemed unorganized & a little too lackadaisical considering prices.
First time there from Chicago would never expect a great restaurant in the middle of nowhere keep up the great work
Best place at the lake. Top quality food, beautiful presentation, relaxed atmosphere.
The food was very good. While the waitress was very nice she barely came around for more drinks or water we were having to flag her down. Then the check was given to us without even asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. But overall it was very good and we'd go back.
It was a great dining experience at a fun location with a genuinely friendly staff.
The food was excellent as was the service and I love the environment
Excellent, cozy, and intimate. I would recommend this place to all, but if I do, it will be exposing a well kept secret, and I don't want to spoil it by overcrowding it.
Our experience was great. Food was lukewarm, not hot. Tasted good just not hot enough. Great service!!
Wonderful food, terrific wine list. Great service. Our new "go to" place. Maybe we'll even learn to play golf!
Love the people ,we have always enjoyed the place.will go again
I had no idea what to expect once I arrived...I felt I was at someone ‘s home and in the wrong place so I called to make sure! I was and I was warmly welcomed in like I was invited to a friends house for dinner.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the awesome though winding road past Shannon Lake to get here. I would never have discovered this lake if I hadn’t come here to dinner...and going home with sunset and the full moon...!
Ok... back to the deer at dusk who came to eat crabapples...oh, yeah...the amazingly awesome food too! I believe the chefs name is Amber...I never did get the hostess/waitress/bartender/perhaps owner or managers name...she wore many hats and was extremely pleasant and personable!
Special appetizer was 3 giant meatballs with a cognac cream sauce...never had anything like this before and it was great, a yummy salad included with dinner as well as some nice crunchy bread drizzled with balsamic and delicious butter and the main course was one of the best chicken Alfredo dishes I have had in ages with sun dried tomatoes! Enough for 3-4 meals!!
A big thanks to Management for two items.
1. Reduced noise volume with window treatments
2. Turned up the lights so I can see the menu and my guests.
I will be back!
The food was excellent. The seating is quite close. (Small dining room)
A little bit out of the way but worth the drive. Food and service was great and will go back again.
A wonderful find that I look forward to returning to. The food was fabulous and the chief and bartender an absolute delight to converse with. My journey here at times had me questioning the GPS. If you find yourself doing the same please trust it and make your way to this great restaurant!
I threw the chicken alfredo leftovers away.....and the shrimp that John had - had no flavor. We will not go back.
Prompt service and fun atmosphere with a live band on the deck that moved inside when the wind started blowing to hard. A little harder to have a conversation when that happened, but at that point the food arrived and we dug in. Great 9 oz. filet (perfectly done) and appetizers were tasty. No room for dessert. Overall a great date night.
Was disappointed!!
web site said closed until 5:00, hamburgers on menu on web site, but was told when seated, reasonable price food (hamburgers) is only during lunch, which DOES NOT have those hours or info on web site! Air conditioner apparently didn't work!
So we ended up spending WAY to much $ for over priced food we did not want while sweating!
Perhaps think about including food/price that the average family can afford because the place is a sweet Sunday drive.
This place is small and rustic. It is on a golf course but has the feel of being on a farm because there are pigs and cows there. The atmosphere was more casual than I expected. I think it would be a good place to meet up with friends for a special occasion. The drive there is beautiful. It's a little pricey but the food was really good. Definitely recommend the cheesecake!
Very loud, crappy band playing inside a very small space so we chose to eat outside. Our wait staff person complained several times to us about the dishwasher not showing up for his shift. Lots of confusion about our orders, and then meals arrived cold. There's potential for this to be a nice spot to dine, but they need to decide what they want to be....a place to drink and listen to local (loud & untalented) music, or a quiet, intimate destination for summer dining.
A large group of coworkers and I were in town for my 50th birthday and the folks at the Highlander really took care of us. We had great food, and the staff was fun, friendly and helpful. The space isn't large so except for one brave couple that had dinner that night, our 25 person group filled the space but the setting was beautiful and rustic. Everything I hoped for with full bar and a good selection of locally brewed beer.
The staff are awesome. Friendly and fun! Will definitely go back!
Took the family for my daughter's birthday. Food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere, had a 2-man band playing, not too loud but loud enough to add a little energy. Overall great experience.
It was out first visit to the Highlander and we really enjoyed it. Caught them on a quiet Wednesday night for a friends dinner. Very comfortable, friendly service, good food and nice atmosphere - plus an enjoyable scenic drive from Helena. We'll be back.
Had a great time, and both service and food was excellent! All the staff was very friendly. A great place for any occasion.
Went to listen to music and had heard the food was excellent. Very true! Music was very good and went for a walk by the creek and golf course. A lot of fun was had by all.
Our steak was over done but had good flavor. Our waitress was slow but she had Multiple large tables.
It was fun and waiters and owner mingled with the diners.
A great gem that is located outside of Helena and worth the 25 minute drive! Great outdoor ambiance!
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the crab cakes where a great appetizer. We were very impressed and will definitely be back and will spread the word about the great experience that we had.
Very cool spot for dinner. Food was very good and the setting is beautiful. Will eat there again for sure.
I am a local and want to support the place but after 4 mediocre dinners I give up
Excellent walleye, pretty location, full bar, good but slow service.
Food is excellent, this is the third time we have been, dinner twice and once for lunch. From the walleye to the burgers the chef knows what they are doing. This is a little drive out of town that is so well worth it. The first time we went was over a year ago, the owner came over and checked in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, the second time he took our daughters to see the pig, and unfortunately he was gone this time. But his staff is amazing. The atmosphere is laid back and the food is 5 star.
