High Velocity - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
We had a very large group for dinner and the staff at High Velocity were wonderful! With everything from making reservations, to accommodating a person in our group who needed wheelchair access, they were so easy to work with. The service was great, food was incredible, and the location was perfect. Thank you High Velocity!
I very much enjoyed the venue, beautiful...and my waiter was stupendous very attentive didn't show up at the table.too much and madre sure we were happy with what we were paying for. He was honestly SUPER. I wish I could remember his name. The food was less than mediocre basically stuff I could throw together at hime.for a party. It's a bit expensive for a bar and grill which is essentially what it is. If your looking for experiance and good food steer clear. The venue and wait staff happens to be the highlight of this restaurant
Active busy sports bar type restaurant. Lots of TVs lots of seating. Our reservation for six was honored by prompt seating. After that, the word prompt disappeared as we literally had to seek out a server for her first contact and beverage and food service throughout our visit were both unacceptably slow. Place was very busy with a big game at nearby Lucas Oil Stadium but these events are frequent and well known in advance, so no free pass to the establishment for an extraordinary situation. We had $13 burgers (big and delicious), fish and chips (ample portion and tasty) and my wife had a salad topped with steak slices that she raved about. If the Service had been a bit more on point the whole visit would have been rated very good. Nice spacious interior with a good overall vibe.
I was staying at the JW Marriott and decided to dine in their sports bar. Big mistake. There were a few groups but I was solo (business trip) and was treated poorly by the waitress. Ordered soup and an entree, and a soda. Got the soda ... asked a couple of times over the next 30 min about my appetizer to no avail. Then she delivered both the soup and entree together. Soup was cold, of course. I got that written off because I didn't eat it but still ... and then it took forever to get my check. I will say that my entree, a single boneless short rib over Mac and cheese was tasty and was still warm at least, but a bit light on meat for the price. I stay here once in a while but I won't eat here again.
This is a convenient location to meet for a "quick " meal before a downtown event. We had hoped to park in the hotel garage but it was closed to non-guests so we parked across the street in public parking. The food at the restaurant is good but it's all about the location.
We have eaten here 3 or 4 times before an Indianapolis Indians baseball game, and this time like all of the others, I was disappointed by the food. I ordered the tenderloin, which should be an Indiana staple. It was either cooked in old oil or slightly overcooked. It was described as having jalapeno slaw and a special mayo. The meat overlapped the bun as expected, but there was only about a teaspoon of mayo and 2 tablespoons of slaw, leaving the brioche bun dry and overwhelming the meat. I am still looking for something here I like because it is so darn convenient for a ballgame. Although it was 4 pm, we felt rushed by the waitress who wanted to know what we were ordering as she handed us the menu. When finished with my meal she asked if I wanted a box. I said no, and she left the dishes there in front of us. We would have ordered another drink had the experience been more pleasant.
We had reservations but still had to wait to be seated and there were plenty of open seats. Our waiter took long to even greet us and hardly checked back on us at all during the meal. Another waiter had even asked if ours had stopped by yet. Food was okay, not very warm.
My experience started off great. The host went the extra mile to get us the kind of table we wanted. But the service from our server wasn't so good. One of our orders was wrong and it took a while before it was corrected. One of the drinks was not brought out and we had to ask twice more to have it brought out and also had to ask twice for a refill on another's drink. We liked the atmosphere, quality of food, and seating. It's just unfortunate the serving of our meals wasn't better.
The restaurant is just a short walk from the Indiana State Museum. The Fish and Chips is advertised with jalapeno coleslaw. Both the fish and the slaw tasted great. Unfortunately the amount of cole slaw served was literally one bite. I asked for more and was given 2 more bites. The fish was served in a metal basket lined with one piece of thin paper. Within seconds the paper was torn and fish falling through to the table so I had to ask for a plate. The staff was friendly and the service was quick, but the slaw portion should be adjusted up and add more layers of paper to the basket! The chili was also quite tasty.
I was there more than once over the weekend and when crowded, it was noisy but understandable, When it was near empty, the sound system blasted your ears, it should have been adjusted. It is also way past time to get new seats for the tables, they are no longer cushioned and very uncomfortable.
I was in town for the marathon and had two meals at High Velocity ...
Table for one, please :-) Total non-issue -- I was treated as if I was a table for four.
Great servers, and the food was really great -- they have a delicious burger and yummy cooked perfectly sweet potato fries.
The next day I had lunch -- pre race grilled chicken breast w/mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. All cooked PERFECTLY and the chicken breast came out on the plate shaped like a heart -- I took that as a good sign for the next day's race!
Yes, I'd eat here again -- and it lives up to being a sports bar -- TVs everywhere!!!! Even some small booths where you can your own TV!!!
We decided to eat here because of the convenience while staying at the JW. The overall experience was meh but again the location drove the decision to eat here.
Not an establishment I'm going to recommend to anyone but still not a complete disappointment for burgers n fries.
