High Street on Market
A gem. Amazing food. A little loud but a really special experience
This is a neighborhood gem. Stopped in for a small, early dinner and HSoM never disappoints. Started with hearty, fresh, and chewy, grain bread with black olive oil. An amazing appetizer of fried cheese curds with 2 “dips” - creamy honey mustard and a pickled cherry pepper jam (amazing and spicy!). Main course was beer can chicken - tender with crisp roasted skin, herbed au jus, with jalapeño mac & cheese, and mini savory cornbread muffins on the side. Finished with a scoop of house made caramel cookie crunch ice cream that was filled with texture, burnt sugar flavor and sweet cookie bites - a perfect finish. Don’t miss this spot!
Delish per usual. Hard to find a more inventive menu in a casual setting. They seem to know just when you need a dose of comfort to pair with their wildly fresh and local fare. And the music is always good!
simple menu but the food is presented very well and very tasty. Ambiance has music but not too loud, small room that gives a sense of coziness. I recommend it.
The carrots were really a nice dish. The asparagus was good. The Ramen type dish was also pleasant.
Andrew and I have been fans of High Street since it opened. Have to admit that a dinner without broccoli/chow-chow and bluefish/bread was disconcerting, but it didn't matter because everything we had was just as good as our old favorites.
Beautifully prepared fish with vegetables. Delicious blueberry chamomile pie, and also honeycomb ice cream. Knowledgeable attentive service.
The food was outstanding!! Absolutely wonderful. The greet staff and servers could have been delivering newspapers or pantyhose. No connection very robotic
We have been going to High Street for years for their wonderful tasting menu. We were so disappointed this last visit that the tasting menu is no more, however the food was just as excellent as always, and the simple seasonal menu full of fresh bold flavors.
Very good menu. Lots of veggies and lovely presentation.
Amazing food and service! Will go back again
Very excited that we got to try High Street on Market last night. It did not disappoint. The staff were ALL fantastic and while they admitted that the menu had just been refreshed, their knowledge of the items and recommendations were spot on. We ate outside because it was a nice evening. Inside was a bit stuffy but once the air conditioner is turned on, I'm sure it would be fine. The chairs outside were a little uncomfortable and the table small but we didn't mind too much. We started with grilled asparagas (because it was in season) and it was delicious. Flavorful and satisfying. Then we shared the mussels steamed in lager. We asked for more bread because we didn't want to leave that fantastic juice. We then shared the grilled fish (branzino) over grains and other yummies. My husband was still a little hungry so he ordered the whipped avocado. Wow - such an interesting mix of flavors. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the desserts. He had some custard, banana thing and I had the german chocolate cake. They were okay but nothing to write home about. BUT, we didn't come for desserts so we were very happy with our experience!
The food is always an amazing surprise since the restaurant itself is small and so ordinary looking. A joy every time.
Food was fabulous. The pasta is out of this world. Love, Love, LOVE High Street
Family visit from out of town
Food was innovative and good. Plenty to share. Decaf coffee only bad part of the meal—tasted burnt. Service was great!
Although the menu is small, the choices are very interesting and all the dishes were delicious and appetizingly presented. Wine list was limited but good, and Negroni was excellent. Great breads.
Great food, great service!
Great food, service.
Food and service outstanding. Seafood special was the best thing I've eaten in a long time. I had beer can chicken, wow it was great. The Blackbeery Farm Fence line 1 litre beer was great. Roasted carrots again wonderful. I just lucked into this place and I'm glad I did.
We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was super accommodating and friendly. Overall, the service and food were both amazing. The agnolotti was particularly delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Attentive service. Excellent food.
Very attentive service and great food. Everyone was very accommodating.
The food and service were excellent. The avocado whip was fantastic, and we enjoyed the pork belly special. The staff was attentive. We had an early reservation and by the time we left it was crowded and had gotten pretty loud. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting excellent food and a fun experience.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The service was superb. Maggie and Eva were our waitresses. They were both friendly and provided excellent service. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great.
Whenever I'm passing through Philadelphia for work, I make it a point to have one meal here. Always an interesting menu with very fresh ingredients that pop. Great beer and wine selections, too.
We had a number of small plates to share. Loved the burrata, the cheese course, the chicken nuggets and the delicious bread. Will be back.
Good casual restaurant with unusual choices for the more adventurous. Service good. A pleasant place to go after lectures at the National Constitution Center or the Museum of the American Revolution.
We love it here. They are able to accommodate our gluten frre and nut free diet and the gluten free pasta dish was amazing. We were also able to have thw mushroom on toast as they have delicious gluten free bread. It is so nice to dine where the gluten free nut free dishes are masterfully flavorful and not a compromise or subtraction!
Everything was great from the food to the service. Great for date night. Only thing would be their wines are all $50 bottles with not the best selection but everything was great overall
Hi Carly! Thank you for your nice review. Next time you come in check our our list of wines by the bottle. It has a mix of prices and styles. Sorry we missed getting that to ya! Avery
Service and food excellent. Noise level could be less hard to hear dining partners at times, we are 4 senior diners. Loved the design of restaurant
I think the food tasted very nice but it was a bit minimalistic. Portion size is very small and the menu is very short. My biggest issue was the noise level. It was hard to have a one to one conversation.
Very interesting food, very down-to-earth. Not far from the convention ctr.
Our first time here and it was amazing. The food was delicious and inventive. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Our waiter was very attentive and made great suggestions. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Such a great experience
Excellent experience! Great food and service. Will return
Nothing special. Pasta was ok, chicken was cold, so they had to warm up, but the server was friendly.
Went for the Pizza Pop Up and it was so fun, amazing food and service! Thanks so much for a great night out!
Aaron rocked pizza night and the service was great!
The food was excellent. I had the papparadelle with spicy crab bolognese which was outstanding. Also especially liked the cucumber sorbet. The whipped avocado first course was good but perhaps a bit disappointing.
