High Street on Market
We were a group of 5 and all of us enjoyed our food. In these early days of the coronavirus the restaurant was almost empty, maybe 4 tables of diners. We started with mussels which were outstanding, huge and delicious. Also had oysters from Barnagat Light which were excellent and very salty. There was a good salad. I had spaghetti with crab which was very tasty. My husband had the mushrooms and grits which he said was delicious. We shared a lemon sorbet that had turmeric and black pepper in it; it was great. One strange thing however was the wine. The selection was very limited; they had only three reds available as full bottles. I don’t know how many whites. We were told that delivery of wine was being impacted by the coronavirus situation. It may be that they had not ordered more for fear that the restaurant would close and they’d be stuck with the inventory. High Street is a wonderful restaurant which I hope will survive this terrible time.

Was luck enough to get a reservation Saturday night, have tried several times before with no luck - so very excited. It didn’t disappoint at all ! Brussels sprouts and golden beet salads were outstanding! Fried chicken so moist and yummy! And dessert spice cake took it over the top! Staff was super friendly and attentive!!
High Street is always inventive in its approach, and a go-to spot with an outstanding wine-by-the-glass program to complement first-class cooking.
My sister and her friend were here for the flower show so I wanted to take them out for a nice dinner. We all enjoyed our meal. My dish was late due to a mix up in the kitchen but the staff was helpful and brought us an appetizer to hold me over. I would definitely go back.

We had drinks and dinner on a Sunday evening before a show at the Arden. The food was great, the service was friendly and attentive. My only quibble is that, for the price, they could offer a small salad with the entree.

It may be a fine place for breakfast/brunch but NOT for dinner. Very limited menu, food was marginal and portions were exceptionally small (the 3 cheese board was ridiculous!). Very inflated prices!

Well prepared food, low key atmosphere, excellent cocktails, good service.
Delicious dishes and wonderful service - the quality of all the ingredients is excellent. Our only wish would be for the dishes to be a bit larger for the price, but we loved everything we had.
Our reservation for a party of 3 was for 7:15, and we were told upon arrival that our table was not quite ready, and we could wait at the bar next door; however, it would be available in "just a few minutes". As I am handicapped and use a cane, I did not want to go outside and into the adjacent restaurant Fork's bar only to be told to get up and return "in a few minutes" when our table was ready. With nowhere to sit, my chronic back pain increased. Despite there being an open table for 2 where I could sit while waiting, I was told that was not possible. After 30 minutes I was allowed to sit on a corner stool next to the hostess' station. Within 5 additional minutes, we were seated in a hard wooden "church pew" booth which was very uncomfortable. The servers came very quickly for our order without us being given time to review the menu. The service was rushed; while still eating our meals, the servers came to clear the table after both 1st and 2nd courses. Immediately after finishing our entrees, we were asked for our dessert selections. It seemed as if the goal was to turn over the table as quickly as possible, despite having to wait >30 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated.
Finding a restaurant with food from local sources can be hard! This was a great spot! Loved everything I had! I will say that we got the ribeye for 2 and it was pretty small for $70...but other than that I think everything was well worth the cost.
The Palizzi night was a good concept but the execution was lacking. We enjoy both Fork and High Street and would encourage people to try them. But this night didn’t work. Overdressed salad; bland beans and escarole ; watery tripe. The pizza was good but not worth $50 per person for food.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration for our sister. We enjoyed every aspect of the restaurant except for the uncomfortable seats! The wood seats are bad!
High Street on Market is one of our favorite restaurants, especially for pre-theater meals! The food is generally creative, delicious, and beautifully served and presented. Recently my wife and I enjoyed the scallop appetizer (with citrus and espresso coffee!) and the agnolotti entree. Wines, beers, and sometimes ciders are fine. Desserts are terrific. Service is smooth and excellent. At 5:30 pm the noise level is quiet. Highly recommended!
great food and service, the pork tenderloin with maitake mushrooms was amazing! cocktails were well thought out.
The food was very good; the restaurant is on the smaller side so the noise can get a little loud.
I was disappointed. The service was poor and the food was just OK. Our server spilled a tiny amount of my red wine on the table and just said 'oops' and walked away, leaving my glass sitting in a puddle. After the bread service, the server carefully removed my butter covered knife from the plate and put it on the table. Good, now I had wine and butter on the table. My fish crudo appetizer was tough and had to be cut with the butter covered knife. Butter did not enhance the taste. To serve the main course the server moved my wine glass back into the wine puddle (I had moved it out of the puddle to try to avoid dripping wine on myself). Both entrees were good. One dessert was a lemon custard type concoction that was weakly flavored and not very interesting. A disappointing dinner.
It was restaurant week, but the servers were not particularly busy and spent most of their time talking to each other at the rear of the restaurant. I am highly supportive of restaurant staff and I watch how hard most of them work. I tip 20% for bad service, which I did here.

I had the chance to enjoy High Street twice this week, while taking advantage of Restaurant week in the city. I took both my fiance, and my parents on separate nights, with the ulterior motive of being able to try a good variety of the menu on both trips! In both instances i was not disappointed. High Street is a cozy and comfortable find on Market Street, that has warm lighting and a very welcoming ambience to the establishment itself. The menu is always diverse, and hits just the right spot when it comes to the difference in plates, while keeping things tight and not overwhelming. For someone like me, who often feels lost in a labyrinth with most places menus, High Street always scores big with their offerings. On top of that, each serving is excellently prepared with the taste of every single ingredient in mind, creating dishes that are utterly fulfilling and delicious, and almost always a taste I've never experienced before. Case in point, in this outing the brussel sprouts completely blew me away. Never would i expect to be in a world were i would choose them over glazed pork belly, yet here i am! I have to take a moment here to bring attention to my server, David too. My fiance suffers from a myriad of food allergies that make dining out a stressful and unpleasant ordeal for her, yet David and the staff here had made us feel so incredibly welcome, and the level of care they show is beyond anything we have ever experienced. Every time we have come, David does such an amazing job, and she goes home safe and overjoyed at the experience. This speaks volumes to both the level of care David and the staff here shows their customers, and the quality of the ingredients used to put together their menu. If you have food allergies, i have never found a place as careful and kind as High Street, and you owe it yourself to come here and enjoy a meal. I'm already looking forward to our next visit, and can't thank David and the staff enough for this week. Love you folks!
Very disappointing Restaurant Week experience. Menu deviated (downward) from what had been published for RW. I was advised, "this is RW, so you should expect to run out of things like tuna for the advertised crudo." The "catch of the day," monkfish, wasn't perpared to my satisfaction -- seemed undercooked and mushy. Staff offered a free loaf of bread to take home to make up for this, but we didn't accept it.

Only one of the multiple things we had was memorable - the beet salad. The charred broccoli was under cooked. I've had it in the past and it was much better. Scallops were OK but not memorable.
Seating is very uncomfortable, but you've know that for a long time. It succeeds in not encouraging guests to linger.
The service was extraordinary. The food was incredible. We look forward to going back. Brussel sprouts, broccoli, rigatoni, and steak are a must.
We stopped by for a lite bite before the theater. The service was great, the staff very welcoming, the wine was just right and the food was delicious. We ordered appetizers and salads which was just the right amount of food for an early (5:00 PM) dinner. Will definitely drop by there again.

Excellent food and drinks. Staff was patient and helpful. I had the catch of the day and my wife had the braised short rib. Both were great. We particularly liked the local mushrooms that accompanied the dishes.
Our family of four really enjoyed our dinner. Cocktails were creative and well-made, and we loved the cheese curd-shoshito pepper appetizer (actually, we ate every bite of all our appetizers). Pappardelle was rich and spicy, roast chicken perfectly cooked (our 13 yo boy devoured it). The only negative was the crab spaghetti, which had been over-salted. As soon as we mentioned it, the wait staff told the chef, and without prompting took the spaghetti off our bill. So they did their best to make it right. Consistent with that, the service was friendly and attentive. We ended with a gigantic slice of the best Boston Cream Pie you will ever find. The cozy, pleasant setting and overall great experience made us wish we lived in Philadelphia instead of 250 miles away.
Great meal. Great service. Beautiful, intimate restaurant. Can’t wait to return.
