High Street on Market
Everything was delicious and the service was honestly impressive. Can't wait to go back!
For the first time ever (we have been here many other times and everything has been stellar), we were unimpressed. The server brought us water but never came back for a drink order. Another staff eventually noticed and brought our drinks. The food was very good but one dish the server (the original one) described as moderately spicy was extremely spicy, to the point I could not finish it. The server never checked in with us to see how we liked everything and only when clearing the plates, she asked if I'd like something else when I mentioned how spicy the dish was. Definitely not the usual High St experience which was especially disappointing since we brought out of town guests. We will still recommend Hight St and hope this was a fluke.
Creative food menu, excellent service and great cocktails. Great for a date.
Great food and service but the music is turned up way too loud. We asked for it to be turned down (3 times) and it was okay after the 3rd try.
We had a nice meal here. Service was friendly and attentive. Cocktails were excellent. Wine list was small. Appetizers were excellent, though one was forgotten. Entrees were solid and very fairly priced. The restaurant was small, tables were quite close. It wasn't horrible, but maybe not great for an intimate meal. Overall we enjoyed it and would go back if in the neighborhood again.
Food was DELICIOUS. Cocktails were so well done and really REALLY good. Would definitely recommend.
Will be back!
Delicious food served in a fun and casual atmosphere. Our server Maggie was knowledgeable about the menu and how each dish was prepared, which is a great start. The meat and cheese board was killer. All four entres were so good we all tasted and shared. The butterscotch pudding with malted ice cream sealed the deal. Great beers too.
A lovely dinner experience, as always, here. The wild mushroom pasta dish was amazing. Great service too!
My friend and I tried High Street before a show at the Arden and weren't disappointed. We shared the crispy mixed vegetables as an appetizer and 2 pasta dishes - PAPPARDELLE and the MALFATTI. Both were really good and very different. We always ask about dessert first before we decide appetizer or dessert. Generally we are dessert people but were disappointed at the selection. However we were happy with the overall experience and would return.
good meal. Bread and starters were great. Enjoyed my entree + pasta and the tastes of other people's meal I had.
Everything about the experience was wonderful- good food, good service and reasonable.
Wonderful food. The brussel sprouts were tasty. The pappardelle with lamb ragu was delightful especially with the added bread crumb crunch. The branzino was very fresh and cooked to perfection. The servers were very good. Highly recommend it!
Food was delicious, outstanding service. Great vibe
A TOTALLY wonderful meal from first to last. Whatever you do when you go, if the pork shank is offered, get it. Completely awesome, and great for a couple to split. Just be cautious about appetizers and primi: the shank with the two sides is huge. I'd suggest two small plates. Andrew and I had three, plus a pasta - WAY too much. This way you may even be able to do dessert - which there was no way we could do.
The Bronzino was outstanding. Very nice charcuterie to start. Excellent steak. Great service. We had a really nice time. Small restaurant—rather cozy.
Delicious food and wonderful service. Loved the prime rib and potato bar. Server helped us select a beautiful bottle of wine.
Chef tasting menu! Outstanding!
FABULOUS as always. We had the Philadelphia meat and cheese tray, the Kennet Square mushrooms and the branzino. Each dish was beautifully presented and better than delicious. Excellent!
We had a great time, our server, Brian, was fantastic and paced the meal beautifully. The food was delicious and I would highly recommend.
Great creative cuisine. Imaginative use of multiple ingredients and flavors. The Pennsylvania cheese plate was particularly outstanding.
The roasted chicken was AMAZING!!!!!
Perfect Valentine’s Day dinner
The food tasted amazing and the environment was great!
Excellent delicious food..fresh and creative. Wine by the glass choice were top notch. I ate at the bar, Emily was great. Noise level was ok since it was a snowy evening and the restaurant was half full. It may be noisy when full.
Our meal was outstanding. Truly a standout in Philadelphia. The service was warm but scattered. No bread was offered, horseradish for the prime rib we only learned about by seeing the table next to us receive it and then we were brought our check but charged for another table's check. This was corrected but reflective of a level of inattention to detail inconsistent with the quality of the food.
Great meal! prime rib Sunday is an awesome option!
The food was completely disappointing in every way. The service was incredible—Maggie is/was a dream. Lovely space. Such a juxtaposition. The food was greasy, over wrought, and nearly inedible. Bread was delicious, though! Strange~
Once again, High Street delivers as promised. Great casual upscale dining with enough of a variety to please everyone. Had great Brussels sprouts, brick chicken and of course, their bread is always the best!
Others enjoyed the mushroom appetizer, mussels, pasta entree and sardines appetizer.
Will be back for breakfast, lunch or another great dinner experience!
Steak plate a little too greasy, nice presentation
Very unique American fare with an excellent wine selection.
We visited this restaurant purely based on the reviews on OT. We were seated immediately, but so close to another couple, our entire conversation was heard and we heard theirs, it was like we were seated with them for dinner at the same table. We had the meats & cheese board which was just OK. We then ordered the branzino and the hanger steak to share. The fish was pretty good, but the steak, well we could not even chew it. We had to send it back, and when we did, we saw the chef point fingers at us and laugh and the manager on duty start cutting up and tasting our meal. We really felt uncomfortable. The way the restaurant is set up, the kitchen is all glass and in the eating area. Overall it was just a bad experience and the edible food we did have was definitely not worth the prices.
We didn't notice the chef leave, but as we were walking out the chef was walking in with a can of beer and one of the waitresses laughed and made a comment to him about drinking it. I'm not sure if this was going on all evening? I simply cannot recommend this restaurant and we won't be returning.
Dinner was not prepared probably. They immediately brought me new entree and removed from the bill.
Had the pleasure of dining at High Street on Market during restaurant week. It was my first time there. The atmosphere was lively and casual. Service was attentive and freindly. The food was outstanding. I had the mussels which were very plump and juicy and the preparation was a bit different than what is the standard white wine version. This version was a hearty beer broth served with a dense grilled chunk of dark bread. YUMMY! The half grilled chicken was done to perfection with a crispy outer skin but moist tender inside. Top it off with the butterscotch pudding and you will not be disappointed! I will definately be back.
Went for restaurant week. The ambiance is really nice - very homey, but modern. The wait staff was also very nice and efficient. The food was all good, but not exceptional and the portions were a little skimpy.
Our food was delicious, but the portions were on the small side. I didn't walk away hungry, and the entree portion was fine, but both the appetizer and the tiny scoop of ice cream for dessert were skimpy and unsatisfying.
Enjoyed our meal during restaurant week
Came in for Restaurant Week and was absolutely blown away by every aspect of our meal. Our server was unbelievably wonderful, she was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and was able to help myself and another diner who were gluten-free navigate the menu. We were surprised to find that just about everything on the menu could be made gluten-free - even the pasta! Every dish we ate seemed incredibly simple but was taken over the top by execution. My hangar steak melted in my mouth and the broccoli was perfectly chargrilled and accented by dollops of herbaceous buttermilk. Brussel sprouts were crispy and had little surprises of slices of hot cherry peppers cooled down by lemony anchovy sauce. My dessert of chocolate peppermint ice cream had a surprise of a chocolate cookie at the bottom waiting to be cracked with a spoon. It was an A+ dining experience and I look forward to come back to High Street on Market!
On my first visit, unbeknownst to me it was restaurant week and so the Sunday night prime rib special was not available. The friends I had brought to the restaurant, who were visiting from out of town, liked the food a lot -- they have remarked on it several times since -- but I was kind of stuck on missing out on the prime rib. The restaurant was very understanding and went out of their way to make up for that experience. I returned another Sunday night for the prime rib I had been craving, and it was excellent. I plan to visit again in the future.
Do try the PA Old Fashioned cocktail as well!
