Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, High Finance Restaurant offers American cuisine in a woodsy atmosphere. To get to the restaurant, you have to take a 2.7 mile tram ride up a mountainside. High Finance Restaurant has a full bar which includes inventive cocktails as well as a wide selection of beer, wine and spirits.
Start out your meal at High Finance Restaurant with one of the menu�s appetizers such as the zucchini wheels or the crab cakes. Choose from a dinner menu full of items like the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin or the green chile alfredo. The restaurant also has an extensive lunch menu full of sandwiches, salads, burgers, soups and more.
NOT permanently closed. It is being re-done, re-built, and will be re-opened summer of 2018.

We were up there to celebrate our anniversary. Very disappointed to find a very incomplete menu. Apparently they were out of most foods and drinks. This is not acceptable. If the menu was going to be limited they should have let us know through here, by phone, or even before we sat down.
Due to limited resources, the outrageous price for the meal was the ultimate punch. Never once did a manager come around to apologize.
The view was very beautiful but the service was awful. We had a reservation and waited 30 min after our reservation to then be pointed to our seats no one even walked us. The drinks and food great, but not worth the price for the low quality service.
Always a nice place to go and a treat when we are visiting New Mexico. We didn't know that as of two days from our dinner the place is closing and being torn down. That's too bad but they are building a new one but it will take two years until open again. Decent food. Great service. Wonderful view especially when going there at sunset. We look forward to the new one opening.
The following is based on regular times, however this is not a regular time as the rrstaurant is closing in a day or two for extreme renovation. Meals were good, but not outstanding for the prices. Service was very slow due to understaffing but the staff did well and busted their butts to serve us. Hope the owners compensate the staff well for their loyalty and attention to the customers. We will go back after renovations are completed in 2018.
Food was aboslutely great. Views are awesome. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly.
It's a lovely view from the top of the mountain! However, we ordered our food and waited what seemed to be a long time. A server came to ask if we wanted our cheque and we hadn't even gotten our food! Our food came quickly after that. The couple beside us told us the same thing happened to them. Our server told us that the restaurant was closing down in a week for a 2 year rebuild.
Darlene and I enjoyed our dinner, Thanks. Access to restroom needs improvement Darlene and i had total knee replacements, was a challenge using the stairs.

Our server took our que that we were in no hurry. He was kind to adjust the wine price too. The sunset view was unbeatable!
the dining experience was very unsatisfactory - poorly excuted dishes at high prices. If it wasn't for the location - one would never have a reason to go there. Glad to hear they are remodeling - hope it will include a better menu and chef.
I have been to this restaurant multiple times in the last five years. It's a wonderful find, especially as they will split the entrée and replate with full sides for only four dollars! Unfortunately, this restaurant is closing for good on October 23, 2016. It will be demolished and replaced by a facility twice as large, and modern. This is a 1970s day ski lodge that has seen better days. The dining area is lovely, but the bathrooms are positively medieval. I look forward to returning in 2018 for the new facility

We took the tram to the top of Sandia peak and looked forward to dinner and watching a beautiful sunset. Our server was terrific, he was attentive without being intrusive. He gave great recommendations for drinks and dinner and all were excellent. The bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was delicious. The sunset from our window was spectacular. We got amazing photos and enjoyed a delicious dinner, dessert and sunset! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
I haven't been to eat there in years. Was pleasantly surprised by the food! I had the filet with veggies and mushroom risotto and it was delish! Our server was really great too considering we had 2 babies with us. The hostess was not very friendly though and was very put off when we asked for our high chairs, even though I put that we needed high chairs on our reservation.
Been there many times, this time food was very disappointing.

In order to eat there you have to ride up on the tram. Being Balloon Fiesta time we knew the line for the tram would be long but we let them know we had dinner reservations so they made sure we made it on time. The hostess wasn't the friendliest but our server more than made up for it. She was fantastic. We made sure she was tipped well and let the manager know it. It was a very nice experience. The food was well prepared and tasted delicious. The only negative thing I could say about the food was my steak had a nerve through it. I believe if you are going to charge $36 for a steak this shouldn't happen. Otherwise it was a great time.

Our first dinner at High Finance since moving to Rio Rancho in May. It will not be our last. Due to the Balloon Fiesta crowd they were running behind. We got a table in the bar and enjoyed a drink before dinner. The line for the tram was a 2 hour wait but thanks to having reservations for dinner we were able to get on the next car. We had a large late lunch so dinner was on the lighter side. Salads and appetizers with white wine hit the spot. Service was slow but we passed that off to the overflow Fiesta crowd. The view is spectacular.

Our group of 4 included a disabled person. The staff made a special effort to accommodate us despite a group of 60 plus another large group already seated. we are grateful for all the staff did.
We had reservations during the Balloon Festival week. The High Finance Restaurant was packed as we were scheduled at the same time as two tour groups. The staff was very busy, yet attentive. I would suggest that the Tram signage be better as many folks were waiting in the tram line that had reservations and did not realize that there was a separate person checking in folks with reservations. The Tram ride was beautiful. We were quite early and enjoyed a couple drinks in the bar before our table was ready. If you want to avoid a crowd, do not plan on dinner during the Balloon Festival!
Had reservations since July ask for a table with view. They held best spots for a tour goup and would not move us. Tour group didn't come in until we were leaving, so those table just stayed empty. Medium steak came out rare. We refilled our own drinks because no one ask to refill them. Took 45 minutes to get meal with two small children
Dinner was great. Waiting for the tram was quite an experience. Visited during Balloon Fiesta. Very busy long lines for the tram tickets.
first off ..we got there at 4:20 and they made us wait for our 4:30 table in the somewhat dirty bar, dirty glasses every where. and the dining area was empty.
2nd your staff was not very welcoming. in fact one waiter walked by making a sigh and complaining already about a customer in front of your other customers including myself.
3rd your food quality is over priced
4th we were told when we purchased our tram tickets that we would get a 5.00 discount per meal since we made a reservation with you. it also says this on your website. your waiter said he couldn't honor this discount because it was during the balloon fiesta.
5th we watched a few people smoking on the deck area while we we eating (including some of your male staff when we arrived 45 minutes earlier) so when we left we also started smoking and was chased off by one of your waitresses.
in conclusion -
your restaurant totally ruined our experience!
The meal was the biggest disappointment of the night. Risotto was crunchy and thick, not smooth and creamy like it is supposed to be. Steak and salmon were neither prepared as we ordered. They were already out of the wine we wanted ( at 7pm). That's not good planning.
We were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. Our waiter was very nice.
Service was excellent. Food was great but they ran out of the artichoke dip which was recommended to us and we were looking to tasting. The wait was a long and hectic but given it was Fiesta week, that was understandable.
The food was so good!! The service was rushed. I would go back.
I would rank the service provided by the waiter as one of the worst I've experienced in some time. If we had not brought our drinks from the bar we wouldn't have had drinks. After he took our order the waiter was pretty much non-existent at our table--didn't check back to replenish water, ask if food was okay, ask of we would like another drink etc... even though he had a table across aisle and another adjacent to ours. As far as food quality--Wedge salad was good, crab cakes were cold and had a unpleasant, thick pasty taste.
But for the fantastic view and scenic trip on the tram there would be no reason to recommend the restaurant to friends. Service at the bar was good, but there was one bartender on a fairly busy Monday night (Ballon Festival week). I have been to the restaurant in previous years, but I don't recall service and food being of such poor quality.
When I have a negative experience of this magnitude, I usually don't respond to a survey. However the location seems to have such potential to be a great experience for diners, I felt compelled to share the unfortunate experience in the hopes the restaurant management will address the problems. A friend (who was visiting Albuquerque for the first time)and I wanted to treat ourselves to a special evening so I recommended the we visit High Finance even though it has been a number of years since I had been to the restaurant.
This was a very enjoyable dining experience The food was stellar as was the service. Plus, the trip up on the tram was filled with stunningly beautiful scenery from the mountains , and then the lights of Albuquerque made the trip down most enjoyable.
We love having a romantic dine and taking visitors to this area for the view and food. However, the tram ride during balloon festival needs to be fixed. Having one cashier for hundreds of people experiencing the ride and view, maybe dining. I suggest that the new owners of the tram have the hostess be able to give out tram tickets in addition to the tram cashier. This years line on Monday was about three hours long, if not longer.
we were celebrating our youngest sister's 50th birthday and wanted something special for her.
The term "Santa Fe Slow" taken to a whole new level at this restaurant. Guess it's too much energy to move quick when at such high altitude or maybe their servers and bartender are independently wealthy and don't need the tips!
Once we were seated took forever to get drinks. After we got our meals it took 10-15 minutes to get Napkins and silverware.
The food was absolutely horrible the place was very dirty. There was no soap in the bathroom, and needed to be cleaned for days. The stench from the bathroom could be smelled from up above the stairs
I understand they will be renovating for the next two years, they definitely can use that time to rebuild and make it something amazing.
We dined here during Balloon Fiesta Week, so we expected crowds. Had 7:00pm reservation. Arrived 1 1/2 hours prior to reservation and line was already down to parking lot. An employee of the Restaurant came down the long waiting line and called out for people that had reservations at the restaurant and led us up to the ticket counter. The only issue here is that there was only one employee at the ticket counter to handle all those hundreds of people. If I was only coming for the view, or a spur of the moment bite to eat, I would have left. But this was Balloon week, so circumstances were skewed a bit. All in all, we had to wait in line for the tram for about 1 hour or so. But it was worth it, tram ride was great, 15 minute ride, service was excellent at Restaurant and food was very good. Had pork chops, veggies and risotto. Desserts looked great, but alas , I was too full. I would suggest trying this restaurant any other time than Balloon Week, although I did hear the restaurant is closing at end of October for renovations. Glad we were able to experience this.

Made reservation and got to tram at 4PM to be on time 6 and was by 20 minutes. Asked to reserve a window seat when made reservation and was informed that they were on first come first served. I understood that. This is what occurred: The couple prior to us were seated at a four top next to the window table; then us: I said to the same male host: Can you honor our request to be next to a window: he said right away we can not always do so and I said as close as possible and you could tell due to me asking he was not going to do so. And that is what happened: As the female host walked my husband and I to table 21 we walked right past an adjacent 4 top table next to the window. Table 21 was a two top not next to a window. Then the couple after us where brought to another 4 top next to the window. The 4 top next to the window across from us stayed empty for a good 30 minutes. Then a couple was sat there. So I was discriminated against since I asked if our request to be next to a window in my first time to this restaurant occurred. Obviously it is not so that window seats are on a first come first serve basis. The food and our server, Nikki was very good and the only person that did not treat us right was the male host.
