   Our experience for dinner at Higgins was a wonderful one. The service was wonderful, the menu options were all intriguing and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The restaurant ambiance was very comfortable. Unlike too many restaurants today, it was quite and tables were well spaced for us to have conversations and not have to shout over others in the restaurant. We look forward to going back!

   One cannot go wrong with a meal at Higgins. Contemporary but never faddish. Terrific food (my salmon special was exquisite); thoughtful wine pairing; great service (Leslie is a fantastic professional).

   Prompt, polite service and nice drinks. We ordered the specials (Razer clams, oysters, salmon) and ordered off the menu but no sides or desserts. The four of us enjoyed the entire meal. Was it spendy? Definitely. But when the entire meal from drinks to apps to mains is fantastic I can’t complain. Higgins has been a reliable go to for our family, friends and work associates. Some people think it’s just charcuterie platters but there’s just so much more.

    Menu options with a lot of Specials. Food was delicious, good-sized portions. Our waiter John was outstanding, a reminder of what excellent old school restaurant professional service is and how nice it is to find it. All of the staff were really excellent, very professional, which makes Higgins a great dining experience.

    Five of us were here for a conference and went out several nights to different restaurants. The food was amazing, our waiter was awesome, Higgins was the best meal we had hands down. Not sure about the pig sculpture on the wall. Go there, have an amazing meal, and see what you think about the pig art.

    I love the food and atmosphere of Higgins, but it was a mistake to eat in the bar area on a Saturday evening, even at 5:00, as the noise level made it almost impossible for me and my friend to hear one another. Next time I eat at this restaurant, one of my favorites in my neighborhood, I'll make sure to reserve at table in the dining room, where the problem of noise is not usually a problem.

    We dined at Higgins several times pre-pandemic, and we’re not sure the quality has kept up in our recent visit. It may reflect a more general lowering of restaurant standards. They served a special carrot soup that was bad - watery and too hot with spice. Our waiter seemed truly attentive at times and then disappeared for too long. No bread. Dishes mostly tasted OK. Fine dining is less fine now.

    Higgins is still one one the best Portland restaurants. Chefs from all over the world come to Portland to utilize the great products available.But Chef Higgins help invent the local Portland scene. Fresh hyper seasonal produce, wild fish, killer in house charcuterie, great burger at the bar. Presentation and flavor, kids this is what good food is. Worth every dollar.

    I have been a regular guest of Higgins (usually before or after a performance of the Oregon Symphony) for many years. After a hiatus of three years, due to the pandemic, I finally paid them a visit again. I was still recognized and received the service I had become used to: excellent, from the recital of the "specials" by my server to the uncomplaining substitution of a side order, to serving the succession of cheese, dessert, and coffee speedily at the end of the dinner. As usual the food was excellent, as were the wines I had ordered. And no pressure to hurry up when they needed my table. So for the discerning gourmet/gourmand Higgins is the place to go, especially for its selection of foreign beers.

    If you don't know about Higgins you need to get out more often! Without a doubt, it's one of the best restaurants in Portland. The staff is amazing! They know everything on the menu by heart including the wine list. They're very friendly, but not intrusive. All of the food is locally sourced so the menu changes depending on what's really good that day. I've been dining there for 20 years, and have never had a bad experience!

    Continues to be one of the best "farm to table" restaurants in the city (and considering they were pioneers of this movement, this isn't surprising!) - service and staff are excellent - all staff are very knowledgeable about food, beverage, and the restaurant business.

    We had a nice "pre-Symphony" dinner and drinks in the bar. It's great we were able to make a reservation for seats in the bar - highly recommended. Service was outstanding. You had the option of ordering off the full restaurant menu or a shorter, curated "bistro" menu...both having a wide range of high-quality selections. Seating in the bar area was a little crowded and a little noisy, but that's part of the energetic charm/ambience we were looking for. The food was of the highest quality and attractively served.     The osters and charcuterie were amazing. The rueban was not, the ingredients were great, but the rye was dense and undertoasted, which kind of ruined the perfect corned beef. Dessert was amazing as well. Lemon rhubarb. Wouldn't hesitate to come back!

    We had dinner this last Sunday. We were so disappointed.None of our entrees were ver good. It is not the same restaurant. We use to go there a lot but we will not be back. It was very expensive for the quality of the food. My husbands halibut was over cooked. I had the risotto and it was tasteless.

    We love Higgins and value its presence. Last night two favorite waiters weren't there; I hope they still work there! The maitre d' seemed very, very rushed as if they were short of waitstaff. That's too bad. It wasn't our usual experience but, of course, we will be back. The restaurant business has to be very, very difficult. Makes me sad.

    Service was really attentive. Many lunch specials for starters and mains that sounded so yummy it was hard to choose. We had the oysters to start and then the halibut with lentils and the crab risotto. It was really great - we thought the risotto was a bit too salty but the lentils were amazing. I had The Ruby - a non-alcoholic cocktail and it was huge! Really enjoyed our lunch.

    This was my first time at this restaurant. I am visiting Portland and always like to find small special places like this. The food was very good, if not a bit rushed. I was dining alone. I started with the terrines, and within minutes, my salad had already arrived. It was quite rushed in that respect. Very unusual for a restaurant of this caliber. Service was very appropriate otherwise. I have to say, in higher priced restaurants like this, I usually expect smaller portions, and I enjoy having several courses. The salad portion, and the main entrée were so incredibly large. I was quite stuffed by the end of the meal. And in an uncomfortable way. But, it was hard to stop eating because the food was so delicious! Just be warned about ordering too much unnecessarily. I will try it again when next in town with that in mind myself.

    Higgin’s, the originator of the Farm to Fork movement, is a long time favorite. We enjoyed every bite of our food in the cozy wood paneled bar room. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I am still thinking fondly about the lush perfectly cooked mussels. We left feeling nourished by good food, company and the care of being in a beloved establishment.

    My daughter has been wanting to go to Higgins for some time now, so I treated her to dinner before the opera. Excellent service, very friendly and professional. The mussels were a great starter, and mocktails delicious, although I think like many establishments, they could do a better job expanding their non-alcoholic beverage options to include some of the great new n/a beers out there. Daughter had two starters as her main, oysters and the smoked salmon chowder. She enjoyed both. I had the crab risotto, very rich, maybe a bit too salty? All in all, a lovely iconic Portland dining experience.
