Yearly visit when in ocmd casual grab hammering eve with family.
Great rooftop deck! Good service and great location. Family friendly too!
Place was great , BUT the Open Table reservation did Not work they had no record of me , I had the email from OT but nothing , did get a table pretty quick but ca see that could be a issue
Food quality with for non all u can eat items is not great.
Food very expensive for the quality.
Our waitress was awesome! The crabs were hit and miss. Some were really full and other it was like the meat cooked out of them. We did go later in the evening prior to close, so who knows, maybe the crabs are better earlier.
Love the mussels and the grilled rockfish!
All you can eat crabs were very good and seasoned well
When we arrived they had no knowledge of our Open Table reservation. They seated us near the kitchen door/server bar area where workers were congregating. If the crabs we purchased were Large, I would hate to see how small the small all you can eats would be! We went because it was within walking distance to where we were staying and are supposed to have the best crabs in town. I would not go again and mark as a "tourist trap". Positive note: our server was wonderful!!!
Chicken on salad was inedible rubbery and hard. Prices for lunch explain why it was empty on Fourth ofJuly weekend. Many many better choices in OC even on main road. Don't be taken in by it being a rare Open Table listing in OC, their computer doesn't work.
Went twice while in OC. Both times food was great.
Pretty good MD seafood. Had the soft shell crab sandwich with coleslaw. Wish they had the option to put it on something other than plain old white bread, but that's ok. The creamsicle frozen cocktail barely had any vodka in it in my opinion and could use a bit more of an orange flavor in the mix. Service was quick and the server was pleasant.
Solid choice for a group of 9 people. The food was good and we had plenty of leftovers. We were seated outside so it got kind of chilly. It's right next to the main road so the honking and traffic can be loud.
Beachtown establishment serving all you can eat crab. Food and service great
I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich but my friend got a seafood platter and it was terrible. The fish of the day specifically was indistinguishable. Wouldn't recommend.
We visit Ocean City every October, and we always fit in a visit to Higgins. The service is friendly and timely, and we enjoy the food. Crab feasters will like the crabs, and the sides are good too. We especially like the hush puppies and the corn on the cob.
Ordering tip: If you're not going to eat more than half a dozen crabs or so, it'll probably cost less if you order crabs by the dozen instead of one of the all-you-can-eat offerings.
Disappointing. Food was not top quality. Tasted like it was reheated crab legs. Soft shells that were very hard to crack open. For the price, I was expecting better. The place was almost empty on a Sat night yet the paper towels were empty in ladies room. The trash was overflowing. Probably wont return.
Great place for seafood and more! Made a reservation and was seated immediately . There was also ample parking...that was a plus.
I would recommend to all family and friends.
Staff very accommodating..I was able to drop off cake and candles and it was presented with much celebration from staff. Crabs are the best in OC!
We had a party of 11 and was able to sit upstairs outside but under the umbrellas. Our server was named Chad and he was great! We were able to get separate checks for our big group which was a plus. I had the all you can eat medium crabs which were seasoned well and came out hot. The crab meat was delicious. We were there almost 3 hours so we definitely got our money worth of great crabs. We will be back. Thanks for a great dining experience and a great server:)
Crabs were awful, wait staff was slow, we waited 45 minutes for crabs after receiving first round of "sides," only were given 2 refills of "sides." Horrible experience. Over priced for poor quality. Had to remind waitress to refill drinks, bring sides, more crabs.
Ribs were amazing, flavorful, and juicy!
The food was very good. I got the ribs more than a full rack they give you which is great. My mum got the crab cakes said very good.
First visit. Will go back
The dining room had chunks of crab pieces on the floor, which was disgusting. My dinner came, and looked overcooked. Our waiter understood and took it off the tab. It was not a positive experience for us, but other diners looked like they were having a good time.
Warm greeting, seated promptly. Place was packed. I made the mistake of ordering the surf and turf at a place known for Crabs. The Lobster tail was good. I ordered my filet medium, got it well done. My server was very nice, likely a college kid who never waited tables before, he wasn't aware a knife should accompany a steak. I had to ask for everything, he wasn't pro active at all (ie refilling water or tea without, clearing dishes off table ) and didn't seem to have a sense of urgency or just did not care... which is why I settled for an overcooked filet. Aside from slow but cordial wait service, this place is fine for casual dining & has great deals on all you can eat crabs, Alaskan crab legs etc. Definitely check it out, but be patient.
We went for the all you can eat crabs for our anniversary dinner. We ate in the dining room and the food was good, service was good, our waitress never kept us waiting for crabs. After eating the crabs, I still had some of my alcoholic drink left and our waitress said we could go up to the deck bar.
We went up to the open deck bar and had a great bartender named Erica. As we sat there, the owners came and sat at the bar. Very nice, down to earth people. We loved sitting on the deck, we stayed for about 3 hours just chatting with people, enjoying the view having a few drinks. Highly recommend.
Great price for AYCE blue crabs! This time of year they were still small and light, but their quality was very good and Higgins prepared them well - and the sides were delicious, the dessert was tasty and the service was friendly! My only constructive criticism is when a customer orders unseasoned crabs, you need to be able to serve them UNseasoned, not rinsed-off-sort-of.
Clean place. Typical ocmd atmosphere.
Our server was very nice and helpful.
Alaskan crab legs were fresh.
Seafood pot was eh. Small serving too much spice.
Ate last night with family and friends and totally enjoyed the experience. Arrived early but was seated promptly by staff. Food was great! With the technology behind them to allow for verbal conversation with their employees allows complete control over the seating and dining experience. The playground was fun for the kid and waitress was super. Keep up the good work. -enjoy
Very overpriced for what you get and it's not high quality. Had to feed the family again just a few hours later.
Our crab legs were a little tough. But the blue shell were banging!!
Horrible experience. The tone was set when I asked the waitress about a special that was advertised on the app. I didn't see it on the menu so I thought it might be a special for open table users. The waitress left and came back with a statement from the manager that if it was not on the menu in the restaurant or on the Higgins website that it would not be honored. I ordered a steak rare and it was delivered medium rare. The majority of the cut was mostly gristle. My friend ordered the fish, which was over cooked to a texture of light rubber. My husband ordered the stuffed shrimp which were actually decent.
I realize that this place probably caters to a certain tourist crowd that is not used to good food and good service. We will not be back, and will let all our friends visiting OC know to avoid this place.
I went with a big group for my sisters bachelorette party and this place was a hit. The food was great! Also, a plus was that Higgins took reservations for big groups.
Experience was just ok. Definitely better crab houses in Ocmd. Crabs were small and a bit over-cooked for my taste. However, our server was great!
First negative was when I read the menu and was told they are charging 4.50 for every refill you get on their "all you can eat" snow crabs.
I asked the waitress about this and she told me that I'm going to get a whole tray to myself (which was huge- and I saw other guests get) and also that most people can't even finish their first serving. Hence the 4.50 charge not being a big deal.
1.5 hours goes by and still no crabs. When we do get the crabs she gives us one tray to split amongst four people. We got 3 crabs each for our first round and then had to wait another 45 minutes to get our second round- which we were charged for.
Worst experience ever and COMPLETE waste of money. We all felt 100% jipped by this waitress and Higgins. Will NEVER return.
The ambiance at this restaurant was nice for all-you-can-eat food as well as for menu dining. The food was good - I found that a bit too much salt was added to both the otherwise delicious cream of crab soup and the fried oysters. The hushpuppies was simply phenomenal - worth the visit in and of themselves!
The food was amazing as it is every year when I come here. What bothered me this time was the service. Our waiter seemed I'll-trained to be working the weekend of Labor Day. You would think they had people well trained and enough staff on hand for a weekend that big. We had to keep reminding him to bring us the free stuff that comes with the unlimited crabs, but once the dishes got to the table they were all amazing as always.
Awesome time in Ocean City. king Crab legs were terrific!!!
This was my 2nd visit and I found that the 1st was not a fluke. I ordered the all-you-can-eat special (#1) which comes with all you can eat crabs, fries, fried chicken, hush puppies, & corn. Each item was excellent. I couldn't believe how good the chicken was for a "crab" spot. The waiter was very attentive and brought all re-ups in a quick & timely manner. I highly recommend this spot and now realize that good food, great service, is the norm.
Pass find another place we thought we were going to a nice place for dinner turns out we were sitting at picnic tables. Great idea but I have better places to spend my money
