Higgins Crab House - 128th Street
Great food and service. I would highly go back again!
Mussels had a strange taste? The platter had a hard piece of fish, the shrimp tasted frozen, the crabcake tasted like fake crab meat and the calamari were waay to small with only a fried taste, no flavor. We didn't even finish our meal. I will never eat there again.
We were disappointed at another location years ago, but tried again for the snow crabs and broiled scallops. Everyone's food was cold and everything was so expensive considering the poor quality. Sadly, we'll have to find another crab place when we come back to OC, MD.
The amount of food they give you for the All you can eat or Limited AYCE is very plentiful. Couldn’t even get more food because they give so much! Not sure we needed the fried chicken, fries or corn since we concentrated on eating all of our crab legs and shrimp. Crabs were very sweet as well.
Excellent! Tried for the first time tonight and it was so good. Great waitress and really good atmosphere. Will def come be back!
Our server, Kyle was exceptionally pleasant and checked on us regularly. We were very happy with everything and plan on returning.
Had the all you can eat. Good value service was good. Restaurant was a little warm.
food very good service was excellent resturant seating had plenty of room
Sadly, I am unable to review the restaurant. We had a reservation for 12 p.m. but, when we arrived it was closed with a sign saying it would not be open until 2:30 p.m. It was quite disappointing as it was to be a special treat for my daughter.
Nice place - ate outside. Kinda pricey for the value. All you can eat crab legs is NOT all you can eat. There is a charge for reorders that they claim is due to the price of crab legs. Was told the legs cost them $9 - and they sell reorders for $9.50. The price of the all you can eat is $49.99 - so they are making $40 on the AYCE?!?!??!? Wife got fish and chips - 1 piece of fish?!?!? I got the crab cakes $30 for 2 small crab cakes?!?!? Not sure if I will return??!!?!?
Good crabs but not amazing, I got the medium upgrade but still very expensive for AYCE due to size of crabs. Service was great which made the experience!
We ordered the large crabs for $68/dozen. 4 dozen to be exact. They were low quality- very light. I would not recommend this restaurant. It’s was very dirty and the bathroom’s had a putrid odor. Many better choices in OC.
Birthday dinner at the beach! Our first visit and won’t be our last!
Steak wasn’t cooked as ordered and although a new one was prepared the baked potato and onion rings were not served with it.
No paper towels given, we had to ask.
Missing a few food items that we had to ask for.
BEST CRABS SPOT IN OCEAN CITY can't wait to go back...
Wasn't sure how our experience was going to be after reading some recent reviews, but I was pleasantly suprised! No issues with our Open Table reservations and we were seated right away. Our server came over to the table almost immediately after we were seated and brought out complimentary hush puppies for the table. Perfect for my hungry toddler to much on before dinner came. After we ordered, our meals came out quickly. All of the food was delicious (crab imperial, snow crab legs, charbroiled oysters, crabby burger), the crabcake was good but not the best we've ever had. It was a bit warm and noisy inside. Nice play area out front for kids. Would come here again.
Higgins lived up to its good reputation. We were pleased that there was a lot of parking available at the north Ocean City location. Our party of 8 was seated within minutes of our reservation time. None of us is a crab eater. We planned on Higgins because of its extensive menu of other things and an excellent children's menu.
2 of us shared a dozen medium crabs which were good and seasoned well. Plus we ordered corn and a 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp. My son had the burger platter which was good. drinks were ok. Service was just fine with our waiter being attentive and pleasant to deal with. we sat outside was was really nice. We would return our next trip..
I chose higgins for my family because I've had good experiences in the past. sadly, I have a severe seafood allergy and know to not eat fried items there and no seafood. the family loves seafood and I didn't want them to miss out. there wasn't much to choose from that I wasnt allergic to. I chose from the kids menu and the waiter wouldn't allow my order. believe me we were spending money eating there. I had to pick a steak sandwich which was aweful and only a few dollars more than what I could eat from a kids menu. I'm never going back and
I'm sharing my story too others. there are plenty of places to have crabs and it wont be at higgins for us.
We were all excited to enjoy crabs at the beach and were disappointed. We ordered large and they were small and light with little flavor. The steamed shrimp and clams were also just fair.
We won’t rush back.
Service needs some improvement to make this place a regular spot. A better explanation if you don't want the all you can eat but want a full platter is there a difference in price. A little more attentiveness and refilling drinks not after your done with appetizers and entrees do you ask me if I want another beer
The crabs were excellent and reasonably priced. The complimentary hush puppies were delicious too!
Very clean, Service starting with the greeter up to the waiters everything was awesome. The prices are reasonable with the food choices.
No waiting! Great table, great food, really a fantastic night out! Our waitress Julie even made it a great night for my 3 year old nephew! Highly recommend! They have playground to keep the kids happy and lots of drinks (to go) to make the adults happy! Do recommend handing out handi-wipes after messy crabs. That’s the only negative thing I have to share- they didn’t offer any.
Restaurant was not overflowing with tables available but waitresses attention was not the best ...Checking with us could have been more frequent. Did not see her serving other tables near us
Great place. High top outside tables are best
Have been to Higgins 128 St. several times over the past 3 years and loved it. This time was very disappointing. I had a reservation for 10 and we were promptly seated. A portion of our table was extremely close to an outside door, and with a person sitting there, the waiters had to bump into the person every time they went in and out. Also, every time the door was opened, hot air and flies came in and were biting us. The table set-up was poor and unacceptable and there was no where we could be moved to.
We ordered our drinks and crabs, and it took a very long time to get the crabs. I went and found someone so they could check on the order. Some of us ordered large crabs by the dozen to share, and another 4 people ordered all you can eat. The crabs by the dozen finally came, but it took much longer for the all you can eat to come- they should have been delivered at the same time.
The all you can eat crabs were over salted and it ruined the flavor. They don't use Old Bay, they use another brand which isn't as good. The last dozen of all you can eat were so small, they looked illegal.
Several members of our party said they would never go back after this experience.
Higgins, what's happening- higher prices, mediocre service and over spiced crabs?!
We really enjoy the 🦀 crabs. It’s fun and seaworthy decorations add to your experience. The staff is very friendly and even when the placed is packed they make sure your drinks are filled and you have everything you want. We totally recommend!!!!!!!
Starting off they couldn't find the reservation I made with Open Table, had to show them my copy. Then they proceeded to take us to a table for 2 when we clearly pointed out that it was for 4, as stated in the reservation. Food took over an hour and a half even when the place was almost empty at 6 pm. Good news, food was very good, but would think before going back.
The restaurant looked good. The food was ok. The problem was it took over an hour to get our food. It was not crowded.
We came for seafood during summer on a Sunday; it should have been an easy night for fast service and good seafood in Ocean City. We ordered a steamer bucket, a fried platter, oysters on the half shell, and a kid's meal. The steamer bucket came out cold. Of the 4 blue crabs, 2 were cooked dead and therefore had a foul taste. The best thing was the crab cake. That was worth the money. The rest wasn't.
Went here for some seafood and we weren’t disappointed. We dined outdoors and our server was great. I had the steamed shrimp and it was delicious. I wasn’t overly impressed with the salad but the soup was amazing.
It was our first time at Higgins, but won't be our last! Great food, great service! Our table was ready when we arrived.
We had crab cakes which were OK but did not have large pieces of crab meat. They were very well seasoned and we enjoyed them.
Great time. Service was great and food was delicious. Prices were high, but can be expected with AYCE. Overall great experience.
This was our first time going we enjoyed it and we'll come back next time we are in Maryland
Great seafood and staff. Will go again.
This restaurant was closed when we got there.
I was not served for 15mins. I couple walk in a was served right away. My girlfriend asked how was it that we came in before that couple and we have not even been asked if we wanted water.... I will NEVER AGAIN EAT THERE.... FYI I spend $125.00...
The Pros - we were seated quickly and the steamed blue crabs were VERY good - well seasoned, large, full.
The Cons - slow service, especially considering the slow crowd, high prices, all draft beers were out of service due to a malfunction, maryland crab soup was from a can, and fries were cold/tasted like fryer oil.
Despite all those cons, I'd still go back and get more of those jumbo crabs! Be prepared to pay $10 each for them though! That's right EACH!
