About Permanently Closed - Hibiscus
This restaurant is permanently closed.
Hibiscus is a contemporary American steak and seafood restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is decorated in the typical style of a modern American eatery. There are high vaulted ceilings, exposed ductwork and the majority of the lighting is provided by small track lights that are scattered throughout the restaurant. There are also several plants and planters used as decoration, which brings a welcome and vibrant atmosphere to Hibiscus.
Hibiscus' menu changes every month, ushering in fresh new seasonal ingredients and unique and creative dishes. Some of the appetizers that have appeared on the menu include foie gras chicken liver pate, crispy lamb ribs, rabbit agnolotti and cuttlefish risotto. Hibiscus' main dishes are a mix of menu staples and seasonal favorites as well. Guests will find dishes like sea scallops with saffron squash, beef tenderloin with Marfa tomato and Windy Meadows chicken with a mushroom jam.

Hibiscus - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My experience was not typical or representative of the rest of the group. My food was poor (my mistake ordering fish) but it was removed from the bill . The overall rating from my group was positive and they reported to have enjoyed the food. Strictly from my perspective I cannot recommend this restaurant
Great location. The food was just the right combination of fresh, local ingredients, prepared creatively and with just the right hint of Texas (the jalepeno cornbread and sweet butter was to die for!) influence. Service was very friendly and swift without feeling rushed!
Hibiscus never disappoints! We have been coming here since it opened and the menu always seems new and exciting, and the execution is always delivers. With all of the new restaurants that seem to come and go, it's nice having one that we can always count on.
This restaurant has now become my go-to for special occasions. Went on a Saturday and arrived early and had champagne at the bar prior to other guests arriving for a belated birthday dinner.
Alex and Chris were awesome servers that made it special and the food was exceptional, the wine worth it and more importantly, made me proud to call Dallas home.
Yes, a bit pricey but worth every penny.
Food was good but my husband's $55 steak was overdone and the fish, though tasty, was also slightly overdone as well and we were eating dinner at 6:00... Before there was any crowd. The salad my friend had looked delicious and the sides were good as well. Wine list did not have many names that we look for in ordering... It was a long list of expensive wines but I think selection was just very overpriced and obscure enough so you wouldn't recognize all but a few. The service was impeccable! If they get the timing right on the dishes, this is a great restaurant.
Hibiscus provided the one of the best meals I have ever had. This is hard for me to admit, being a NOLA girl. The quality of the food prepared was top notch. With the exception of the oysters, everything was spot on and exceeded my expectations. The scallops were absolute perfection. The mushrooms were so flavorful. The kitchen is impressive and everyone seemed to be dominating their specific task. The face of the restaurant conceals what lies within. This place is amazing. I was delighted to find such a gem in Dallas.
Great meal and great service! I gave service 4/5 because it seemed the bar service was a bit slow. The Korean ribs appetizer had a tasty sauce, however there was very little meat, all fat. Sat in a booth with a view of the kitchen, best seat of the house in my opinion! Overall, it was great, I will definitely be back again!
The service was without a doubt the worst service I have had in more than five years at any restaurant. It started with having a drink at the bar and the bartender (girl) shouting out something about heroin. Then our waitress for dining was agitated, short, never brought our salads ordered, never brought the bread we ordered, tossed our silverware at us, I asked for another glass of wine when our entree was ready - that was delivered during the appetizer phase (before we received the salad we didn't really receive)!!!!! It was horrible. She never checked on us and also only brought one appetizer instead of the two we ordered. A GIANT DISASTER and I put the blame on our waitress and the bartender. Also, my fish was very dry. Over cooked. We GAVE UP and didn't have dessert.
We ate at Hibiscus for my birthday, and it was great! The service was a little slow at times, but our server seemed very knowledgeable and took good care of us. The food was outstanding. Everything was cooked to perfection and really delicious (even the next morning!).
we always enjoy Hibiscus! the food is good, the service above most places in Dallas and it is a great place to go with friends for a nice evening.
the people who work at Hibiscus are some of the nicest and most professional in the restaurant business and we appreciate them
Hibiscus is a must-visit whenever we're in Dallas. Outstanding food at every course (try the charcouterie board!) and generously sized and spaced round tables for groups make it an easy place to spend an evening. Specials are always a good bet, and vary from visit to visit.
Incredible service by Jason and his co-waiter (sorry, forgot his name). Had the sea bass but wish I would've skipped the diet and gone for the beef, but still delicious. Awesome sides is what makes this place one of my new favorites. After the tragic events in the city, I took notice the place is a great urban and diverse mix of people that makes me proud to call Dallas home.
