We spent the weekend in Hilton Head to celebrate our 40th anniversary and carefully viewed restaurants and menus for our special dinner. We selected HH Prime because it is in an Omni property and we’ve enjoyed the Omni brand before. We preferred a more formal space rather than casual. So we reserved our table through Open Table. When We walked into the HH Prime about 30 minutes early to have a drink we were told by the man behind the bar that he was too busy and told us to go to the sports bar - not in HH Prime. So we entered this very casual XO sports space and waited to be served. This was also understaffed. We went back to the restaurant and quite frankly had a mediocre experience. Our server tried hard .... but was very busy. Another staff person told us that the usual staff of people from Puerto Rico didn’t make the trip due to the government shut down. Omni! No excuse. Thumbs down. There are many lovely options on Hilton Head Island and this was a fail.
We should have read the consistently bad reviews for this place before going. We saved this restaurant for our last night of vacation because it came up as one of the best steakhouses on HHI. What a disappointment. All four of our steaks were cooked wrong. My husband sent back the steak that he ordered medium rare because it came medium well. They replaced it with a cold, rare steak. When he pointed that out no one even offered to fix it or give us any compensation for the fact that he never got the dinner he ordered. The waitress was nice but poorly trained. For example, I ordered coffee after dinner, she brought me a cup of black coffee. I asked for cream and sugar. She disappeared for a while and finally brought that, with no spoon. By the time I got a spoon, my coffee was cold. Skip this place, there are so many other great restaurants on this Island.
This was our third visit and the first time we’ve been disappointed. First, there was no hostess on duty and we had to find a waitress to get our table. Our reservation was at 6:15 and our food got to our table at 8:40. One meal had to go back because it wasn’t hot. Many customers came and left before our food arrived. There was never an acknowledgment of why our food was late or any sort of apology. It was certainly not the food or service expected for that price and often we felt invisible. We are not complainers, but sadly we won’t be going back to this restaurant.
Food was good, waited 5 minutes to be greeted by a hostess and a valet person had to go get the hostess for us. Steaks were good, she crab soup and mushrooms were awesome but the waitress wasn’t very attentive, especially considering there were only 5 tables occupied.
Value of the food was low considering it was $50 per person, not including drinks in what is supposed to be one of the nicer restaurants on the island.
Horrible. Will never go here again. SteK tZted like it had been dipped in lysol. Rubber shrimp. Complete crap
It was a cooler day and the restaurant had no heat on
Enjoyed the service food and the overall dining experience
Untrained server. Steaks ordered medium rare came well done. Steaks and potatoes were cold. Restaurant was empty. Easy to see why.
Unfortunately news years eve is not the time to dine there. Food was somewhat prepped over salted and to much oil and Or sauce accompanied with dish. Risotto was awful. It’s should have been called sticky white rice. Asked for extra veggies instead with very light oil and no seasoning. Didn’t get that right either. Wine selections fair Don’t think we’ll go back
This was the least “Omni” dining experience we’ve ever had at an Omni property. The restaurant was evidently overbooked and/or understaffed. Long wait to get in (even with a reservation), long wait for water, drink orders, the meal. The best thing about our (poorly situated) table was watching Jose in the kitchen as he serenely prepared plate after plate. The food was (mostly) good, which is the least one would expect for a $300 dinner check. The prime rib was tender and properly cooked, salads were meh, husband’s creme brûlée was yummy, son’s steak was excellent, and other son’s shrimp& grits starter was good. But the angliotti smothered in green peas was not a success, and y’all should take that red velvet dessert off the menu — it was dry and tasteless.
Christmas dinner was inedible service poor meal.comped but this was unacceptable
Service was great, waiter very attentive , pleasant and professional! All in all great experience; highly recommend this place restaurant!
From check in through final billing, the experience was well done. Staff was experienced and the whole meal came off with little fanfare.
HH prime was the worst dining experience my family and I have had in Hilton Head in the 25+ years we have been vacationing there. Of the three steaks we ordered two were dramatically under cooked. The waiter took them back and when he returned with them only one had been improved. The manager came out and took one steak back to the kitchen a second time and eventually it was cooked correctly. The result was the three people in our party were not able to eat at the same time. The manager was nice and did not charge us for the meal. While the gesture was very nice the point was more about our experience and not about the money. When people go to eat together the expectation is that you actually get to eat together. The side's and salad's were average at best. Overall I would NEVER recommend the restaurant to anyone travelling to Hilton Head. There are much better places on the island to enjoy fine dining. If you are looking for a steak house experience avoid this place at all costs. The restaurant positions itself with its menu to appear to be similar to a Ruth Chris or Flemings, however the food that they delivers is more in line with a Golden Corral.
We celebrated our 45 wedding anniversary. The filet my wife had was awesome. My New York strip
Was very good
We also ate breakfast there and the omelets were perfect best I ever had. The offerings for the buffet were very good
The waiting staff at both the dinner and breakfast were very kind and helpful
Great food, service and ambiance in a nice setting.
service was exceptional. Food good. Drinks good. Ambiance nice. slightly pricey
Remove the write and review I expected a higher end steak house instead of a run of the mill restaurant in a time share complex. I had search out door dining on OT and this was selected. The outdoor dining was seating next to a family that bought a pizza and soda and sat next to our table. Not really a quality outdoor dining experience.
Great food and service! Lovely birthday song from wait staff! Thank you for a great evening!
Fantastic food. Is pricey but well worth it. Would definitely recommend you
I was disappointed we were not offered an outside seating option. We did not see outdoor seating until we had already eaten. The food was good but not in the level of a Ruth’s Chris while pricing was similar. Not as high end of a steak for the price.
Steak and mushroom side were excellent. Shrimp cocktail needed to be more chilled as shrimp were almost warm. Service was slow although the waiter was quite pleasant. However he delivered the wrong drinks to two guests. The person who asked for gin and olives got vodka and olives and the person who asked for vodka and lime got gin and lime. He then delivered two meals with filet steaks to two parties but the guest who requested meat well done received the med rare steak and vice versa. It was still an enjoyable evening....
Nice atmosphere. Food was good, but not on par with other high scale steak restaurants.
Our meal was great, but the portion size was not enough for the money. The plate presentation was poor. The drinks at the bar were wonderful and we had great service. I would suggest increasing the portions. After dining at Amelia Island Omni owned Steakhouse, (Bob's) two weeks ago; Prime did not even compare the plate presentation and quality of the meal.
Food and service were excellent. The portions were what we thought, quiet and unhurried atmosphere even with several families with little ones. A very nice way to spend our anniversary dinner.
I am so surprised this restaurant was rated as highly as it is. This is not my idea of a 4 star steak house. I had the ribeye and it was soooo bland! Everything was bland! Potatoes were bland, lobster Mac and cheese was bland. Service was nice, but the food was unimpressive and not worth $170 for 2 of us to eat. I don’t mind paying for good food, but I feel Iike I wasted money eating here. No ambiance at all. Nothing special.
The food was great. Our waiter was awesome because we wanted to split a dinner and he did it for no extra charge. We ordered the seafood marinara and it was plenty for two.
She crab soup was amazing. Would have liked vegetables along with the starch.
Everything was great!
Such a great dinner! Our server (he called himself Too Tall) was wonderful!
What a wonderful dinner! The French onion soup was perfect! And the filet mug on was one of the best if not the best I have had in years!
Great food and ambiance. We loved this experience. It was very expensive though!!
Love eating here when we visit HIlton Head. Food is already great.
Great service. Food was OK but not exceptional.
Meal was good. Onion soup appetizer ... was fair with little flavor and lacking cheesy top and bread. Salads were fresh and nicely chilled. 3 people had signature beef dishes. All prepared well. Quite tasty. One had chicken dish that was a bit dry. Service was slow but friendly.
Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Delicious and creative.
The food preparation was very good....she crab soup was well seasoned and our filet entree was cook as requested (medium /pink)....however the ambiance was similar to a cafeteria....kids running around, very bright lighting and no separation between tables....not real steak house standards. We have eaten at other “prime” restaurants (not affiliated), and expected a refined experience, this was not to be as although the food was prime, the establishment was more of a typical resort restaurant.
The food was very good, but VERY expensive. Not worth the price, imo.
We chose to dine at HH Prime to celebrate a bday. We were entertaining out of town family and decided to dine here for the steak. It was delicious. Everyone, even the kids, were impressed. To quote my cousin, this was the best ribeye I’ve ever eaten. We also loved all the sauces and sides. Creamed spinach is a favorite. The manager, EMILY, came over and was super friendly as well as got us extra s’mores sticks for the kids. She made us feel very welcome and our server Jodi was awesome. We will definitely return.
