Heyday offers several different event options from private to semi-private rooms.
View Private Dining DetailsPlace is nice, food tasted good but don’t go there if you feel hungry, portions are extensive small for the big price.
I had lamb it tasted really good but not the greatest and of course had to go somewhere else to actually had a decent dinner since the portion was 3 small pieces for 30usd drinks are good, have had better.
We visited HeyDay for a girls night and started out with a round of cocktails that were quite delightful. Our server gave some descriptions of the menu as we decided to share a number of items among the table. The chicken liver pate was very good and delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. However the entrees took over 30 min after the appetizer was delivered and were cold upon arrival. We were overall disappointed with the experience and value for the price of the food.
Our server was amazing
Family birthday party--table for 8 at 615pm. Two people arrived before the other six. No one approach the table to ask for a drink order. The other six arrived. Finally a server appeared. Order a bottle of wine...5 minutes later the server tells us they are out of that wine. Very slow to bring bread and drinks for the table. For what they charge, the expectation of service and food was high. They failed miserably!!
We had the tasting menu. I admire the creative use of ingredients and pairings that you wouldn't necessarily think of going well together (the server was very knowledgeable about the wine pairings). The liver tart was the best. I liked the pop of herring roe with the celeriac noodles. However, the duck was a little chewy and the pavlova was a little too sweet. The amuses were an unexpected treat (artichoke consommé and cucumber sorbet). Can't wait to come back.
We celebrated a birthday with some cocktails at the bar...great service and conversation. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner. We didn't do the full tasting menu, but chose several items. All were outstanding and the service was impeccable. The restaurant was lively, but not too noisy, so we could have great conversation. A very enjoyable evening. We will be back!
The Maitake mushroom ragout was our favorite. Wonderful deep woods aroma with electic mushroom flavors. Our second favorite was the Halibut, which was substituted for the sea bass. The fish was grilled perfectly. We had several more of their menu items, all of which were excellent. We also tried their Moscow mule drink, which I personally really liked. In addition, the service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant
A true dining experience! Every course was creative and tasty. The service was incredible!
Excellent service and food!! It was the night before Easter and we were a party of 7. We all got the 4 course tasting menu. The service was very attentive. Could have been a little more knowledgeable about the menu and drink specials but over all did a great job. They made a mistake with one of the meals. They brought a different dinner instead of the one ordered. They gave us that one and still brought the original meal out for the table and comped us for it. They also brought us four extra desserts, that we did not order for the table to taste (complimentary). We had fun trying all the different we desserts. Some really unique takes on the meals which made some of the people with us Leary at first. Everyone loved their meals. A great night and great food. Will go back.
Mpls is so lucky to have Heyday! We made a reservation for post-theater, and were delighted to try the 4-course tasting menu. The beverage list has something for everyone, and our server had the perfect balance of helpfulness. Our courses challenged our expectations in a positive way, and I found myself savoring bites with my eyes closed: flavors demanded my attention and brought me into the present moment. Give the chefs and yourself the time to make your way slowly through the tasting course and refreshments between main courses, and you will be as thrilled as I am that Heyday is ours! From the convenience of the parking lot to the kindness of the servers and chefs, this is where your next culinary adventure should take place!
Heyday is an absolute treasure. Every opportunity we have to dine there is as exciting as the first time. Nobody is better at pairing beverages with their food. Chef Christiansen has a truly unique culinary perspective, Dani’s wine and libations lists are inspired, and the cocktails are delicious. Even the desserts are unique, in that they’re very dynamically arranged and contain a melange of flavors, rather than the typical overly sweet desserts that I do not really enjoy.
Heyday is the best. Run, don’t walk.
Had a great waiter! Enjoyed the experience
The kitchen was not prepared for a 5pm opening time and reservation. Service staff was very awkward and did not communicate the menu well. on top of that the menu's explanations were odd and poorly written. The entrees are also strangely named which is not help them since they are actually much better than they sound. Overall, it was a very strange experience. The food was really quite good but the experience was awkward and strange none-the-less. This is an easy place to skip if you have another place in mind at a similar price point.
As always, Heyday provides unique takes on fresh ingredients resulting in a really satisfying experience. The staff is great from when you arrive to when you’re ready to leave. Top notch and a fantastic part of the Minneapolis dining scene. Looking forward to coming back again and again.
Food too experimental but didn't work for me. Taste was lacking.
We were a party of 10–received a sizable bill with an auto gratuity (which was expected) but also a separate line item for service fees. When we asked the waiter what service fees were, he snottily responded “it’s so that everyone in the restaurant can make a living wage.” Food was good but servings were quite small and dishes were all overpriced. I hope the owner decides to increase the pay for his/her employees to a livable wage—you are charging $24 for vegetables after all. Pay your people!
Incredible food, and our server was very sweet and made some fantastic recommendations.
Elegant food. Too bad there were not more diners—I don’t think they covered their overhead that night.
A beautiful, tasty and thoroughly satisfying meal, served by a knowledgable and friendly staff. We all went with the tasting menu option and were completely delighted with every dish and course. Even the cocktails were lovely. A bit of an expensive evening but definitely worth it!
The food was overly 'seasoned (salty)' and the entrees were very insubstantial for the price. One of us was served a piece of inedible lamb. Any chef should have noticed the poor quality of the cut of meat. We will not go back. The service was exceptional, though.
Surprisingly yummy despite some of the menu descriptions. Definitely looking forward to going back and being more adventurous now that I get what they are trying to do.
The tasting menu was excellent as was the wine pairings. Staff were very pleasant and went the extra mile to make it a memorable occasion.
I brought my partner there for Valentines Day. Even though I made a reservation 3 weeks ahead of time, I received a call from the restaurant less than a week before the date saying that they were doing a $95 per person 4-course meal that day and that was the only option and I needed to give a credit card number to reserve it. It was frustrating that I now had no time to make another reservation and basically had to take it if I wanted a dinner that night. Even on the day itself, there was no info online or any social media about the 4-course meal.
On the day of the reservation, the restaurant was over 20 minutes behind on all of their seating and seemed to be very unorganized and frantic. We waited for each course for longer than normal, we were given an extra entree to share while we waited, but it felt like they just gave us a mistake they had made. I would have rather had a discount or our drinks paid for instead of getting food I didn't order while I waited for the food I did. While I understand restaurants get busy, it seems as if the whole valentines day event was poorly planned and executed. It seemed like they were scrambling to put something together at the last minute.
Was there for a special occasion with my spouse. Some nice plates, but the fish was cooked horribly, and the cut was not eatable. You couldn't cut through it with a knife, and chewing it was not an option. In addition, the kitchen was exceptionally slow and we missed the film we had hoped to see.
One of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. Innovative - and delicious- dishes and great service.
I was entertaining my daughter's future father -in -law who was in town from New York. He is quite particular and I had read several very positive reviews of HeyDay and the chef, so felt it was a good choice. The restaurant is lovely in appearance, but we had a horrible dining experience. Our waiter, while not overtly rude did little to address our concerns. My guest (who happens to be Jewish) ordered the lamb for his entree...when it was time for our meal, he was served a pork dish with the explanation "oh we were out of the lamb, but I hope you enjoy this" he didn't want to be rude, so kept the plate- he tried one bite, but just couldn't eat it. I gave him half of my quail(portions were very small for this price!) as he didn't want to hold up the table waiting for a new entree. I don't understand why the waiter didn't offer the "we ran out" explanation very early on to give him the opportunity to select something in the lambs place? He did not apologize even after I questioned the process. He behaved as if we should be grateful for the plate. We were not. Nor was anything comped to make up for the error. We spent quite a bit for a very disappointing dining experience.
Pleasant area that is easy too get to and parking is no problem on the street. The food is unusual but extremely tasty. Four course taster or you can choose a la carte. I had slightly frozen raw lamb with grated horseradish for starters and it was magnificent. King crab on a crepe second and smoke aged duck for main. Both superb tasting dishes. Finally the desert a cedar and smoked hay parfait with maple syrup. It sounds very weird but it tastes great. All the while the waitress was invisible until you needed her. She seemed to sense from a distance she was needed at the table. This is what service should be. The locally brewed IPA was excellent too. My friends all had different courses to me and were equally impressed. Because we all three ordered the same desert though we got a taster of the other deserts thrown in. At $100 a head it's not cheap but it is worth it.
Excellent food and presentation. Service was also very good.
Everything was amazing. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the people were awesome. We will definitely visit Heyday again.
The chicken liver tart was as beautiful as it was delicious. My wife really enjoyed all the different flavors. It was fun drinking some tasty wine, trying a new place, and enjoying great food.
Enjoyed the 4 course tasting menu. The duck breast is fantastic as well as the duck prosciutto. The chicken liver tart and whole quail was tasty.
We are in town from Philly and were thrilled with our dinner. This restaurant ranks up with top Philly restaurants and we were treated perfectly as guests.
We have eaten at Heyday several times. It is our favorite fine dining restaurant in the Twin Cities. We've had the four course tasting menu, and it is terrific.
Wonderful restaurant with creative flavors and cuisine. Four course tasking menu or a la carte off of same menu. One of the dishes each of the two of us had missed the high bar set by the other three dishes, but was still a great meal overall.
Excellent tasting menu, with very unusual presentation. The wine pairing matched well. The final tab is a bit of a shock for four if you add in one round of cocktails and have one or two substitutions for the drinks (they add the cost on?). But it's foodie heaven.
My wife and I really enjoyed our meal at Heyday. The food was a great combination of old world and new world ingredients and flavors, and the wine list was built with the same sensibilities. On a cold Minnesota evening, it was a great respite from the elements. Particularly, the roasted vegetables and poultry dishes were great. The encouraged wine pairings were helpful as well as spot on. You will be transported to a wind swept Mediterranean island in no time.
Wonderful surprise. We've committed ourselves to visit the restaurant three more times over coming months, to make sure we tried everything on the menu. Have to mention that everything was wonderful. HOWEVER, the roasted vegetable salad that the chef delivered to our table just before dessert hit it out of the park... Foodies will delight...
Wedding anniversary dinner. It took several minutes for us to be greeted when we were seated. Great flavored food but too expensive to return.
This was the most disappointing experience. Waitress brought out the wrong entre and the wrong dessert. The portions were tiny and each 30$. The fish was one bite of food and the meat undercooked. Not worth the price. Each entre shoule have been triple the size and half the price. Even with the tasting menu with four dishes each we were left starving. We went to get Mexican food and ice cream after from a different place. Pathetic and never going back. It’s a joke of a place. Tying way too hard and the concept just doesn’t work.
The food tasted awesome but the portions were way too small to really enjoy it. Prices should be half.
