Love this local spot - food is typically very good , with the occasional minor slip-up but even then, they are quick to react and make it right. Seating can be a little tight and I'd like to see some upgrades to the quality of the tables (I choose my entrée based on the stability of the table - will I be able to cut a steak at this table or is it going to rock too much?) but if that is the case, I just go with the delicious short ribs - which really eat more like a beef stew but absolutely delicious. We visit typically twice a month so these very minor comments are me being critical -
Overall, the food was fair and the service a bit disappointing. Our table ordered barramundi, meat loaf and the Pasta Kiana. I think my dish (the barramundi) was the most tasty. If in the mood for fish, give it a try, it won't disappoint. It's also reasonably priced. The others said their meals were ok. Regarding service, we timed our dinner during a 'staff' meeting so our order was taken by 3 different people which took more time. Once the order reached the kitchen, the food was promptly served. I'd go again to give them another chance and to try other items on their menu.
We all loved our food, the services was great! I love this place and will come back often.
The food was very good. Our table ordered salmon, meat loaf and the pot pie, and we all enjoyed our food.
I have been many times for the TGI foie gras (which has been discontinued...BOO!) This was the first time going for the weekend brunch. I got the "Big Ben" which is a stuffed mac n cheese croquet topped with a hamburger patty, topped with bacon, topped with a fried egg and covered in bacon gravy. It was one of the best tasting meals I have ever had! Truly fantastic! And it was $13.50 which, in my opinion, makes it a great deal. It is a fun place, albeit it tries a little to hard in the hipster category.
You wouldn’t think the food would be so good from the look of the place...but the food was great! The manager kept coming to our table to check on us and was very nice! We will definitely be back, we even brought our 7 month old.
The Hey 19 Vat, thier house drink is great! The food in general was so so. Some good some not so much. Disappointing for the price. Very expensive meat dishes.
The service was rushed... They took away our appetizer plates and knives as soon as we got the main dishes. Weird!
They had a live band, music was good. Food was flavorful
Love the food amd drinks. Perfect for casual date nite. Love music playing at night, will b back.
Such a wonderful place, fantastic music, delicious food, and awesome service.
THe food was amazing! I will definitely be back to try out different options
The food was just okay, nothing great. We are friends of Chef Shaffer who performs in a band some Saturday nights and went to hear him sing. If not for him, we would not go back.
Literally THE worst service and the worst food ever. We sent our slimy raw burgers all back (3 out of 4) and it took forever to get the replacements. We also ordered the 'extra' bloody mary's with 'snacks' on them for extra and not one person knew how to make them and had to read the menu because they dint believe that they had anything like that. Then when we got them the waffle attached to it was freeze fried. Disgusting.
We were one of two tables in the entire place and were there over 2 hours and couldn't wait to get out only it took forever. NOT only that the bill was over $150....and the waiter even comped 2 meals. Just a dark, missed dive bar trying to do something and not having any intention to follow that through. Sorry but worst money I have spent and worst meal I have had in years. Hey Ortega 120....you might want to dine in your own space soon and see whats going on.
I loved Hey 19! It's everything I want in a dive bar, but with fantastic cocktails and innovative and delicious food.
Amazing Food and Service!
This was our second time in one week. Both meals were terrific, as were the mixed drinks.
Service, especially Gigi, was fantastic. Hey 19 is our new favorite restaurant.
Food, service and ambience were all on point! Super fun atmosphere clever menu for food and cocktails energetic atmosphere with live music on certain nights of the week. Had an absolute blast and would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun place to go!
Had heard good things about Hey 19 and were not disappointed. Very eclectic vibe. Not a matching chair or set of dishes in the place. But, the food was outstanding. Lots of options, quite a few comfort food options. My wife had a delicious and huge chicken pot pie and I had braised short ribs and vegetables that melted in my mouth. Salads are definitely made to be split. The house green salad with a light vinaigrette was perfect to start. The have a handful of local craft beers on tap and a wide selection of bottles. Dessert was a wonderful brownie with caramel sauce drizzled and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that was perfect!
Hey 19 was great...again! We went most recently for their Sunday Shrimp Boil. Was it ever good! And portions were great, too. We added in their house special cocktail, the #19, and some beer. Delicious. We love Hey 19's atmoshere, food and drink. It's comfortable and fun for a night out with friends or the family. Love their live music when that's on the schedule, too!
The place has good ambience, despite the neighborhood strip mall location, cocktails were excellent. Lots of variety and choices.
Prices were a bit high, but meal size was substantial (pasta).
Cheese plate, fried deviled eggs, baked brie and bread pudding, are our families favs. The spicy margarita was just perfect, not sweet at all.
It was our first time there and almost everything was fantastic and reasonably priced. But the rack of lamb was market price and it's my fault for not asking ahead of time what the price was. It was $42 and for what I got I think overpriced. There were 3 nice sized chops and one little overcooked (although very flavorful) one with potatoes and arugula. Most of their other items are under $20 so this was a shocker.
I will definitely go back. It's very noisy but the food makes up for that. Don't go if you want a quiet cozy evening. They've got a wonderful homemade pot pie. The vegi's in it tasted so fresh. Loved it! I'll skip the mkt priced items though.
Great food, party atmospher, exotic drinks, eat before band starts.
I always have a great time at Hey 19, it's my favorite place to go for date night.
Finally tried the lamb and the chicken..both outstanding!
A hidden gem!! A little hard to find and we weren't sure what to expect when we drove up, but very glad we went inside. Looks like an old neighborhood bar that's been converted into a hip, trendy pub. No table cloths, but full service. The food is excellent with some unique recipes for good old fashioned comfort food. Everything seems well prepared with fresh ingredients. Service is great. Sean was friendly and prompt and constantly checking back to make sure everything was fine. Very reasonably priced too. Great for families. Our only regret is that we weren't more hungry. We stopped here after a day of beer tasting at a few of the local craft breweries in Torrance.
Great food and fun atmosphere! Cannot go wrong with the menu! Comfortable, casual and a neighborhood gem!
Very friendly staff. Great service. Food was excellent
Incredible drinks! Made to order and absolutely delicious! Then the appetizer, bacon wrapped pieces of heaven! Then the main entrees, he had the Roger which is so different and something out of this world delicious. I had the meatloaf which tasted amazing and fresh. We absolutely loved this place and it will be our regular date spot!
Excellent evening, great food & house wines.
music was too loud..good lunch...nice presentation
Found this place on Yelp when looking for a cool spot to take my husband (he got a promotion) and it's safe to say, he loved it! We all did actually. My sister and her husband joined us and they had a good time. The whole place had a cool saloon-ish feel with Star Wars.., retro memorabilia, a screen was playing The Sandlot in the background. There was a live band and they were great, even taught line dance after their set . Our waiter was awesome and attentive which is always a plus. Food was delicious. (I recommend the mac N cheese, Mike C, and #19 steak. )Overall my experience at this place was positive and will definitely be coming back.
The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there so not as loud. I had a requested a table in a quiet corner. What we got was a table that faced the bar with a projector showing movies above, that blinded us in the eyes. It took almost 10 minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted drinks. We then requested to move tables because of the movie projector. When we finally received our food we were underwhelmed to say that least. My husband has the Big Ben and I had the Spiccoli burger. Both items were flavorless and needed seasoning. The $8 dollar glass of wine I ordered was also underwhelming. Needless to say I only ordered one.
Everything we ordered was so good! Our server was attentive and friendly. Great find, will go back!
We have been there several times and the food has always been good. I especially like the salmon and the chicken. I find the seating Is very uncomfortable. We had to sit at a high table one night while two large tables sat empty the whole time we were there. You could do much better if you put smaller tables together for large parties.
Really great Burger. Juicy, flavorful, and everything you expect from a gourmet burger. French Fries are soooo good! Fun Atmosphere, friendly service, and lots of choices to fill your tummy!
This was our first and only time at Hey 19. We were disappointed with everything except our server. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable, the music was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation with everyone at the table. The food was very bland, my daughter had the 2 Style mac & cheese, my husband had the pork chop, and I had the short ribs. No one enjoyed their dinner. Our server was great, very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, we will not be going back.
Excellent food and service, as always! The only downside is that there aren't many options for vegetarians. My friend and I both are vegetarians and thankfully still eat fish, so we had each had excellent dishes, but it would be great to see more dishes with the meat or fish as an add-on option rather than just the standard, no-substitutions menu item.
Very good experience !!
THIS IS A LOCAL RESTAURANT WITH ABOVE AVERAGE FOOD AND MODERN CUISINE. WE WENT EARLY AS WE HAD A FLIGHT TO CATCH SO IT WAS EASY TO GET A TABLE. I WOULD CALL THIS A BAR WITH TABLES FOR FOOD. THE SERVICE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND EFFICIENT AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT NOT SPECTACULAR. I HAD THE SPINACH SALAD WITH QUINOA AND CHOPPED TOMATOES AND AVOCADOS BUT HONESTLY COULD NOT FIND MORE THAN TEN GRAINS OF QUINOA. MY HUSBAND'S HOT FOOD WAS OBVIOUSLY RE-HEATED IN A MICROWAVE. I WOULD GO AGAIN TO SEE WHAT OTHER ITEMS ON THE INTERESTING MENU ARE LIKE...
Loved the later night dinner vibe and the food was just what I envisioned- you could tell everyone was happy to be there and the food was the BEST.
I sent my drink back Bc it was too sweet...I had initially ordered it asking for agave on the side. It never came on the side, and the drink the second time was too sweet as well. My husband drank it. My son ordered chicken and waffles. He asked for cream corn to be on the side, it was never served. We told the waitress, but it never came. The live music made up for those mistakes. I often travel wrote and my job is to tell readers about restaurants I done in. I'm not sure I'd come back for dinner. Maybe drinks and apps to listen to the music.
