Hersh's Ratings and Reviews
Everyday dining on a special occasion tonight. Hersh's is a perennial favorite of ours. Warm, familiar atmosphere, terrific music (if a little on the loud side), and absolutely first rate food and drink. Worth traveling to the southern end of Fed Hill for.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant with terrific pizza and pasta in Federal Hill. Although it was crowded on. Thursday evening, our table was ready on time. Our server was knowledgeable about both the menu and the beers on tap. It was a great night out.
Hersh's is great for sharing. As appetizers the four of us shared meatballs, shrimp, and fried sweet potatoes and shared two pizzas for our entree with a salad for one of us. Shannon, our server, was efficient and pleasant; but, as is often the case in restaurants today, was a little too eager to have us proceed with our order and not socialize too much.
1st time dining at Hersh's. Was very excited about the chance. I really like the menu. Simplicity of dishes leaves little place to hide errors in execution or preparation. It was a very good 1st visit. Service was not invasive but very attentive. We were left to our conversation and eats. The ravioli was simply spectacular. We decided that next time we would each order as it is too good to share. Pizza was satisfying, but our server accurately asserted that the homemade pasta was the real star of the show. Wine prices were very competitive and we enjoyed a bottle of Rioja.
I very much look forward to the next opportunity to dine there!!!
Nice, simple menu and the food is always amazing. It took a little long to get our food and drinks this time around, which was surprising because it was also slow for a Saturday. The food is still worth the wait - really delicious and currently our favorite Baltimore restaurant.
Always delicious. I think that this is the best wood fired pizza in baltimore. My husband gets bent out of shape that you have to cut it yourself but I'm the one who does it anyways and it's not that hard! The crust is nice and thin and delicious. The happy hour deals are great and the desserts are great as well. It's a little loud so if you're going with noise sensitive folks, you may want to sit outside. Otherwise it's a fun atmosphere with delicious and reliable delicious food and service!
As always, first class. Each time we visit, there is an item that becomes our new favorite. Be sure to try an appetizer and order a few pizzas and pastas for the table so all can try. Love that entrees are served in two sizes. Be sure to order ice cream and the doughnuts for desserts!
And, to the bougie woman sitting at the next table who claimed that the carbonara was "not like I have had it before"...that's because YOU have never had it prepared authentically. Hersh's prepares carbonara as my born & raised in Rome uncle prepares it.
Loved our experience! Excellent food, so fresh and creative! Great service, friendly and on point. Great casual decor, puts you at ease, great vibe!
They really care about their customers, everything is made fresh from scratch, like pasta, sauces and ricotta. You can really taste the difference!
Great overall experience! Loved it! And highly recommend!
A great hidden gem of a restaurant. It's in a quiet neighborhood so the outside seating is not noisy with traffic. I've been there a couple of times and the service was great each time - friendly and efficient. The food was very good, interesting and based on what's in-season fresh.
I have visited Hersh's at least once a month for the last four months, and I have never been let down. It is a great little South Baltimore gem. The atmosphere is great, the staff is great, and most importantly - the food is delicious. The pasta always tastes fresh, and the pizza is cooked perfectly. Our last visit was for a birthday, and I wrote a small note on the reservation wondering if there was a way to have a small surprise during our dinner - Hersh's delivered. I'm sure I will be back very soon.
This little neighborhood place has a huge imagination for delicious, creative food and refreshing cocktails, served by attentive and friendly staff. I love the chewy, oven blistered , edges of the very thin pizzas, all of their short list of salads...I haven't had anything I don't love! Sometimes it can get loud when crowded.
We had an excellent dinner. Our terrific server recommended a tomato appetizer that was excellent as was the salad with goat cheese and hazelnuts. The pizza was perfectly prepared . Ingredients were tasty and the crust crunchy. If you see the doughnuts with corn on the desert menu, they are a must. Just fantastic.
My first bad experience at Hersh's. My wife and I brought another couple here for their first visit; we gave the place quite a buildup. We had made reservations, and were placed in the upstairs room, where we'd never been seated previously, but we thought, well, this is Hersh's, so it's probably pretty nice. When we were seated, the room was very loud and full of families with very lively young children, but it was early (about 6:15 pm), so we figured they'd clear out shortly and we could converse over our meals without having to shout. Never happened. Throughout our meal, more and more families with kids kept showing up. I'm puzzled and disappointed that Hersh's would stick four adults in a room that is evidently their version of a child care center.
