This little neighborhood gem offered a small but select set of Italian pasta, pizza and salads. Each was carefully prepared with a unique spin such as a spun feta dressed young lettuce salad with focaccia crumbles and dates. The Pizza was offered a tasty thin crust with a choice of red or white base and toppings. We would love to return to taste the pasta at another time- hold our table!
Outstanding fresh pasta, delicious cocktails and excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic and laid back date or dinner with friends!
Hersh's never disappoints! I was able to introduce two friends to this restaurant and now they are fans as well.
This was my 3rd time to Hersh's and I was really disappointed based off of the other 2 visits. The main issue was our waitress and the lack of value on the entire menu. I would also say this time around the bar did not have its A game, both of my cocktails were overly sweet and acidic, way beyond what the descriptions indicated.
We were seated upstairs next to the stairs where it seemed like 4-5 tables were forced into the space. There was really nothing to it, just 5 random tables in a space that seemed poorly designed and not much thought put into it. From our tables, you could see back into a storage like room where our waitress hung out most of the time we were there, that is, when she was not on her cell phone. She gave us zero input into any of the items on the menu, zero feedback on our order, and checked in with us once the entire time we were there and we had 3 distinct courses. She cleared our wine glasses and gave us our check without any mentioning of dessert, coffee, etc. I felt embarrassed for her.
My other major gripe was the scallops entrée which the menu described as "monster". Three monster scallops for $28 would not be a problem, these were medium sized at best and the vinaigrette that was supposed to accompany them was non-existent. After spending a fair amount of money, we went to 1157 and ordered some food so as to not go home hungry. I will not be back to Hersh's, I feel like maybe they are only able to produce a worthwhile experience in the summer months with the patio and more of an abundance of produce.
As always Hersh's delivers and our last dinner was no exception! We've come here for birthday's, anniversaries, and taken family here when visiting from out of town. The rotating menu is always delicious with fresh seasonal ingredients, outstanding pasta, and great cocktails. Hersh's is great for date night and we'll definitely be back soon!
My carbonara was delicious
The tiramisu was way too much cream
One of the best spots in the city for pizza. Good service, cool atmosphere, and a nice wine list.
We drove an hour to get here and have no regrets. The food was delicious and the service was on point. We will be going back a few times a year going forward. It was a great find!
This was my first visit and for my birthday dinner. My husband said his margarita pizza and Little Gem salad were excellent. I had the Wood-fired Scallops and Wood-fired Brussels Sprouts. They were good to very good. I have minor complaints that the scallops were too salty, and the Brussels spouts also were salty and very rich for the ample serving you get. After I had eaten half of it, I could have stopped. The richness could have been reduced by cutting back on the pecorino. I admit this combination of food set me up for not having balanced flavors. For dessert, I had the pistachio cake and my husband had the ice cream brownie. Both were superb.
We love this place and will miss it since we are moving. Newest thing on the menu was AMAZING... Heart-Beet Fettuccine! Amount of Gorgonzola flavor was just right, walnuts and wood-fired grapes were perfect complements. Thanks!
My mother was in town and craving Italian. She raved about the food the rest of the weekend and even went home and attempted making the Brussel sprouts similar to the way they prepare them because she loved them so much! This may be her new favorite place to go when she comes to visit.
Pizza was great but the other meals (steak and pasta) we so, so. The order came out wrong and we all went back the pasta since it wasn't cooked all the way
Food and service always good. Very consistent quality.
Hersh’s never disappoints. Food and service were exceptional. We ordered: Tuscan Kale Salad, grilled octopus with chick peas and 7th anniversary pizza. Tiramisu for dessert.
Hersh's is without a doubt one of the best food experiences in Baltimore. Their team prepares their ingredients they way they are meant to be; homemade, the hard way, and those nuance really come through with the quality of their dishes. Incredibly authentic Italian food. The pizza is amazing, but do not skip the pasta. Their homemade pasta dishes are incredible.
Everything was fantastic as always.
Great as always! Our favorite spot!
Apps were great! Loved the pizza!
Always love going to Hersh’s. The staff is pleasant and the food is always fantastic!
Visited from North Carolina..
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Hersh's. The food was unbelievable and very moderately priced for the amount and quality of the meals. We each had two drinks, a pizza, an appetizer, and a pasta course for under $100. The service was slightly below par but the food 100% made up for that. I highly recommend ordering the portabella mushroom appetizers. One of the best appetizers I have had in a long time.
Always a wonderful evening with delicious food. Thank you Hersh’s!
Always fantastic. Took my cousin from LA and he loved everything as well.
A fun evening with excellent food and service. I look forward to my next visit.
Loved the place! Super fun and enjoyed our time! Great food too!
I forgot how awesome Hersh's is. I'm living outside the city now but was excited when my sister suggested we meet there for dinner. I've always been so impressed by their appetizers and always have to get 2-3 because I know how amazing they are going to be (I don't mind having to pack up pizza from the rest of the meal because it's great the next day.)
My sister and I split the cauliflower (so flavorful, perfect texture combination, YUM), the octopus (definitely ranking this some of the top octopus I've had. So tender and great flavor), and the lamb sandwich (which was apparently new on the menu). The lamb sandwich was so big that splitting it was perfect, especially with the other dishes we ordered. The bread was perfect for the sandwich. Despite being packed with lamb and other delicious components that went so well together, it wasn't messy to eat and didn't fall apart. SO GOOD. We didn't have room for dessert, but this is the first time I've passed up their awesome options. Of course, the drinks were wonderful as well. Excited to come back. Also - love that they cook seasonally. There are always things on the menu that feel like "just want I feel like eating" for whatever the temperature is outside. Additionally - in my experience, the staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are laid back in their approach, yet efficient and very attentive, while giving you time to enjoy your meal and conversation. Thankful that Hersh's seems to be doing the great business it deserves.
One of my top 5 Resteraunt’s in Baltimore for last 7 years (since they opened.) Not only is their food delicious it’s sooooo consistent. We’ve never had a bad meal or dish there and the service is always informed, courteous and playful (great combo!) can’t say enough about this place other than “go there” and “try everything.” My wife and I love Hershs as a great date night place, and we also have come to enjoy taking other couples to share all the small plates. Kale and pistachios pizza has been a staple and an always order item for us, as have whatever meatball option they have in the small plates.
Excellent service. Food was about average. Amazeballs were just okayballs.
This place is not fancy, but it is a good place to eat in every regard. Over the years everything we've eaten there has been great. They serve large and small portions, so you can eat the whole generous salad and still have room for the main. Great pasta.
Hersh’s is one of our favorite restaurants. Service and food are first rate. The menu changes periodically to reflect the season. Their Neopolitan pizza is the best, as is their house made pasta. Also love their changing salads and starters. The services is tops and we have never felt rushed or ignored despite the fact they are often very busy. I guess I just have to say there isn’t anything I don’t like about this restaurant.
This was our first visit, and we will be sure to come again! We haven’t found good pizza in Baltimore until now, and this is excellent pizza. Portions are not big American portions, and the four members of our family had no leftovers after two pizzas and two entrees; we even had room for dessert comfortably. So consider an appetizer or two! The octopus was delicious.
Hersh's is always the best dining experience for my wife and I in Baltimore. The food tastes great, is always fresh, and there is always a variation of choices and ingredients on the menu. Also, the cocktails are incredible. We can't help but order multiple appetizers, mains, and desserts (and drinks!) every time we eat at Hersh's. An added bonus is their amazing staff!
Very good pizza. My wife got the spaghetti which was made with fat pork and egg, she didn't care for the pork itself. The taste was ok but very salty. Service was excellent. There was a large party sitting next to us that was having a good time.
Food was way over salted.
I have eaten at Hersh’s countless times, but I had to move out-of-state. When I am in Baltimore, I always try to make it to Hersh’s for great service and amazing food. Hersh’s is a gem!
I always go with my friends to Hersh’s. This time I was so excited to take my family. I was surprised that we have to be upstairs because I have kids. I didn’t like upstairs. It really doesn’t look as nice as downstairs. Too bright and smelly (I think it is the mob used smell). The manager said kids go upstairs at the weekends because customers complain about the noise however that wasn’t mentioned in the website or I wouldn’t even book. We discussed this for a few minutes then he let us stay downstairs “only for this time”. Then he and his assistant were great however I wasn’t comfortable with what happened. I already booked for the new year eve and now don’t want to make it and can’t find another nice place reservation.
Always amazing food, great service and relaxing ambiance. Not too pretentious, which is right up our alley! Their happy hour is excellent and you don’t have to sit at the bar to get the deals, we go as often as we can
Best pizza and service in town.
