BRUNCH: Saturday & Sunday: 10am-2pm
The food was wonderful. The service was great too. The only issue, and it was largely because this was our first dining experience, was I specifically said we would like to share the selected menu item. When two plates were brought to us, the portions were small so we assumed that the plate had been split into two portions as requested. It wasn’t until we got the bill that we realized we were served two separate orders of the same menu item. Live and learn :)
A comedy of errors at Herrngbone: table not ready on time, no menus, half menu not available, meal took 90 mins to appear, no sides turned up....all a bit of a disaster. Didn't get charged for drinks to compensate.
Seafood is terrible - bad form for a seafood restaurant. Server was uninterested in us after we paid the check despite being on bottomless rose. Burger ordered protein style came on 1 piece of shriveled lettuce
looks (upscale but casual) better than it feels (upgraded burger vibe)
Great ambiance and service but none of the dishes really stood out.
Service was very slow. We were sitting around for a while waiting for someone to take our order. Drinks also took a long time to come after we ordered them. Maybe they were just having an off night because I’ve had friends that have gone before and had great service. They were out of the drink and one of the food items I tried to order and one of the food items had to be sent back as it was undercooked. Maybe they are a better brunch spot. On a positive note, they were great at letting me update my reservation to add more people. I’ve heard they are great for groups but maybe this only applies for brunch?
The food and service was top notch, but the noise level was really distracting.
Ambiance is nice. Had great reviews and great pics of food plates but maybe for night time? We were there for Sat brunch/ lunch; short list on menu for options... drinks were good.
We were seated already (4ppl) on a regular table and was asked to move 2x by 2 different staff members to a smaller table to which we said -no the first time. Not a great first impression for service.
The burgers here could be better; a little on the bland side and a tad dry.
Not so far from the boardwalk and beach. An awesome place for fancy meal.
Disappointed. Menu was limited. Only the ceviche was good in the brunch menu. Had an experience with the cleaning staff which was not appropriate. My wife went to the rest room and a male cleaning staff member followed her in without knocking the door or giving any notice. Then he started washing his hands in the rest room next to my wife. This was all very inappropriate and not expected from a place like this. Rest of the service was courteous but this destroyed the whole experience. Also parking is a pain so just valet. Would not come here again!
Upper echelon brunch experience
Not a terrible experience but not a good experience whatsoever. Definitely overpaid for quality of food and service and won’t be back. Food was okay. Server never asked how we enjoyed the food, so we ended up leaving being unsatisfied with the meal.
Food was good.
Place is nice.
Service was terrible !!!!!
Food was outstanding, service great, but noise level way too high.
I do not usually write reviews, but my experience here was so bad that I think its necessary to share. We were greeted by our server, and then forgotten about for about 20 min. The ceviche tostada was bland. Food was delivered to our table that we did not order on 3 separate occasions. My glass of wine was comped, but I was overcharged for my dinner (an extra flat bread was put on my bill). Our server and the staff were very apologetic, but our experience overall was a disaster.
My party of seven met there for a family bday dinner!
We were seated promptly & drink order was taken right away. *Specialty drinks worth a go - mine was very refreshing!
We had a variety of three tasty appetizers -- everyone was happy with their meal choice & all were artfully presented!
Got a little bit loud as the evening went on - but overall, a lovely restaurant!
Live this restaurant, great oysters, fantastic happy hour, and dinner!
Amazing place to spend our last night on holiday. Also loved that we finished dinner and moved to the bar area with great service from Ryan behind the bar. Will definitely be back.
The food was delicious but spoiled by the poor service. Upon arrival, no one attended to our table for 10 mins. We didn’t receive our drink order and had to ask again. After our appetizers we didn’t receive our entree for 45 mins, no one came to update us or ask us if we wanted more drinks. They didn’t apologize for the wait. It ruined what would otherwise have been a nice evening. Very disappointing
Started at 6:35, Sunday evening, for oyster happy hour that ends at 7:00. Ordered cocktails and six oysters before dinner at 7:00. Order was taken promptly but 35 minutes later and after our dinner reservation, i asked how it could take that long to shuck 6 oysters. Ten minutes later i had my oysters. Something wrong with a happy hour that makes you unhappy.
My wife had albacore tuna salad and was satisfied. I had scallops and bone marrow. Of the 3 good-sized scallops, 2 were gritty and the bone, wth marrow, had beed so overroasted that the marrow was left with no texture and had to be scraped off the bone. I have never seen marrow prepared so poorly. For $39 dollars for 3 scallops, and burned on marrow, i can only assume the restaurant’s real chef doesn’t work on Sundays.
Decent food, but noise level is intolerable. place to eat, not socialize
The staff seemed disorganized, the service was at best comparable to one you expect at a breakfast diner, the food was not special, certainly not in line with the prices the restaurant charges
Food was good and fresh, but nothing extraordinary. Service definitely needs improvement. Granted, it was a Friday night, but no one really seemed to care if everything was to our liking. Our server checked once. Wait for food was long, especially for dessert. By the time I was brought my dessert, my date was practically finished with his. Overall, a disappointment. I’ll be back for oyster hour, but not for dining.
To die for , upscale happy hr with lovely ambiance and great happy hr . $1 oysters !!!
Great as always food. Their buffalo octopus is crazy good.
Service was slow. Hardly saw our waitress.
Food was overpriced .
The Mahi Mahi fish was so overcooked at usd$32...
if it was $52 and delicious I don’t mind at all.
Crab cake was average... not much taste.
nothing great except the interior design was fun.
I love seafood and they have a fairly good selection, although am missing clams on the half shell which they had before. Also, the music was not necessary, it was loud, and since it has high ceilings, made it difficult to have conversation. However, would go again for happy hour instead
Herringbone is one of our go-to's for brunch. Relatively inexpensive bottomless mimosas, and great food options. Our service was a little inattentive this time, and I discovered a truly baffling price of adding one egg on the side of your breakfast dish ($7 PER EGG????). Alas, this won't keep me from coming back...I still love the place!
Really nice selection and not just your average I went out to eat kind of place. I never even made it to the entree items. The "left" side of the menu had so many great selections I was able to order a number of things and create a sampler. The Oysters were also great.
happy hour oyster and blueberry donut was good but that was it. Super loud.
35$ for Alaskan crab leg appetizer...but there was only 1 real leg ( cut in 1/2) dry & not fresh at all. Two diners in our party ordered that, so there’s $70 wasted... gorgeous setting, just beautiful. Loud music didn’t match the place though. (80’s music) Go for cocktails, skip the food.
This restaurant was beautifully designed; however, we received very little food for the high prices. They have no business offering side dishes separately when they charge $39 for 3 scallops. We wouldn’t have minded spending so much money if food portions were sufficient. I would only return for drinks or happy hour.
This was my first time there! Loved the vibe and love that it is an Ocean Friendly Restaurant!
Good food but overpriced.
Don’t bother. Seafood in Santa Monica is awful. Not fresh. Not well prepared. Way over priced. Stick w drinks and appetizers.
Happy Hour for $1 Oysters was great. Drinks and bar keep were very good and bar staff were very attentive and friendly.
Very good food. The branding really was t branzino, it came with the fish head, which we felt should’ve been mentioned.
Nice vibe outside, pretty loud inside but attractive.
Waiter was very kind. Salad excellent, entrees good. One problem. I waited 35 minutes for my salad and 65 minutes for my entree. I’m a business guy and just felt that I didn’t matter. Not a good take away when one spends 100 bucks on a meal for one.
When we walked in, it was immediately apparent that the noise level was high. We tried to find a table where it was a bit more quiet, but that wasn’t possible. Three of us ended up shouting at each other for the rest of the evening. The menu offered an excellent variety of choices, so we were were happy with that. Although, the wine menu leaves very few options for a single glass of wine. Two of us ordered fish and asked for wedges of lemon with it. We had to ask four times for that. We also requested some bread, and again, had to ask four times for three little slices of bread. The fish, in both cases, was completely over-salted. I am a lover of salt, and it was excessive even for me. However, the deserts were good. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant because the service is not good and the food is mediocre at best.
The server forgot one of our guest’s main entrees and they didn’t apologize for it or even acknowledge the mistake. It was Father’s Day and unfortunately it was one of the fathers in our party that was the victim. Another guests pasta entree came out too and it wasn’t hot. The Mahi-Mahi Fish recipe that someone order was so salty that it was almost inedible. Very nice ambience but service and food wasn’t consistent or worth returning to the restaurant again. Pretty environment but won’t invest another large party event there.
