Took them an hour to get us dessert, the waitress wasn’t too interested in service. We kept waiting for her to show up so we could order a repeat of the drinks. I wouldn’t go back again in a hurry.
We were celebrating a friends birthday here. The decor is really lovely as you walk in and we were seated almost immediately. We ordered drinks that were very good. The service was amazing- my water glass was never empty. Our appetizers of ricotta and spinach flatbread and tuna carpaccio were delicious. Our entrees were as delicious as they were beautiful. Can’t wait to go back.
Not good for a brunch or drinks. Great seafood, nice decor
The staff was amazing so we decide return the following night. Antonio (bar) and Nora (table server) excelled in their knowledge and customer service.
The food was delicious at my birthday dinner. You really taste the fresh ingredients that are prepared beautifully. Textures colors and flavors of the food are vibrant ant well-balanced. The service was friendly and attentive while giving all the space needed to enjoy the experience. But the portions are small and the prices are quite high. I’ve heard the happy hour is very good.
The food, presentation and service were mediocre. First restaurant I’ve tried that had good reviews but completely disappointed me.
Really good seafood with interesting preparations. Fun decor though a bit loud. Nice outdoor dining option. Recommended.
Very good service, excellent cocktails, fantastic happy hour!
Apps were great (octopus and whole fish ceviche), seafood pasta was fantastic. Mahi-Mahi was a little uninspired per my cousin. Good wine selection. Loud place - difficult to hear our soft-spoken server. Would return.
Great brunch spot with awesome decor and lovely food and beverages.
Very slow kitchen, it took 45 minutes to make a batch of fries. Plan a minimum of 2hours for dinner. Food was good.
Service just okay, tables so close outside that we felt like we were sitting with them. Food okay, not great and over priced. WIsh they could make their great Happy Hour as happy during the remainder of the hours,
Enjoyed 1 dollar oysters all night long this last Wednesday. It's in the bar area only, as is the usual Happy Hours oyster deal from 4-7 on all other days. The service was great and very attentive. The by-the-glass wine selection is decent. Aside from 4 dozen oysters, we also had a side of the brussels sprouts which were perfectly cooked and accompanied by a nice vinaigrette and candied pecans. We also ordered the buffalo octopus which was a unique preparation with a crunch mix of celery and carrots, very good. Love the decoration and the lovely green wall of plants.
We had an over zealous member of the wait staff insist on removing table wear and replacing plates and utensils even when we didn’t want it to the point where it became argumentative and disruptive to our dining experience.
overpriced mediocre food, would not recommend to a friend.
I placed this reservation last week. I made a point to notate the proper reservation name in the notes section on OpenTable. The morning of the reservation I called in to the restaurant to confirm the reservation and the accurate reservation name in the notes section. I explained that the party coming in to the restaurant would not say my name upon entering the restaurant. The hostess confirmed they could read the notes and understood exactly what was to happen upon arrival.
Instead my guests were told there was in fact no reservation at all under my name OR Sean Hannish.
To top it off here is what the restaurant did not have...
Specific Wine (the wine that was served in lieu was warm and kept in the kitchen or back of some sort)
We called to discuss with the manager while the guests were in house and he was unapologetic. Only offered deserts to make up for the horrible experience. His biggest excuse was that the restaurant has a call center that often fumbles reservations. My biggest question to that is, if you know that why don't you make up for it instead of admitting it's just something that happens that your guests need to deal with.
The guests were willing to spend a ton of money and they were just highly disappointed with the entire experience. Whatever can be done to have this experience compensated for would be appreciated. If it can not be resolved I will be making a personal visit to the restaurant to request the same. I can't tell you how embarrassing it was to recommend this place to then be laughed at for thinking it was so above par.
I appreciate whomever is reading this getting to the bottom of this note.
Looking forward to hearing back.
Sunday brunch was VERY LOUD but the food, ambience and, for the most part, service was terrific.
Great looking restaurant, loved the decor. Brunch menu was good but limited selection of brunch items. Waitress was rude but other wait staff were attentive. Not going to rush back.
Went to La Jolla location and enjoyed the ambience and the food quality and service
Santa Monica location was very disappointing , food quality mediocre and not worth the price
Go for happy hour save the money for seafood there are much better options
We were sat down and our server came out late, then our host served us water but did not know anything about the menu. Our server she seemed very nice offered us a treat for our dessert at the end. Then did not explain to us that the dessert was one that they had separate not one from the menu. After ordering 2 desserts we explained if we’re were getting one for our 17 year anniversary. She our server never came back out to apologize. They charged us for both desserts then also brought out the dessert she mentioned after we were all done. It felt more like an insult then actual nice gesture. I would not recommend this restaurant for a special occasion at all.
Food was terrible.
Everything was good but the food prices in my idea is a bit overpriced. Also the environment was too noisy.
We really enjoyed the bottomless mimosas!
The food was very good, the ambiance was nice, the music however was way, way too loud,
I could barely understand my partner speaking. It became irritating and made the whole dining
experience became vexing! Probably won't go back because of the music.
The food was wonderful. The service was great too. The only issue, and it was largely because this was our first dining experience, was I specifically said we would like to share the selected menu item. When two plates were brought to us, the portions were small so we assumed that the plate had been split into two portions as requested. It wasn’t until we got the bill that we realized we were served two separate orders of the same menu item. Live and learn :)
A comedy of errors at Herrngbone: table not ready on time, no menus, half menu not available, meal took 90 mins to appear, no sides turned up....all a bit of a disaster. Didn't get charged for drinks to compensate.
Seafood is terrible - bad form for a seafood restaurant. Server was uninterested in us after we paid the check despite being on bottomless rose. Burger ordered protein style came on 1 piece of shriveled lettuce
looks (upscale but casual) better than it feels (upgraded burger vibe)
Great ambiance and service but none of the dishes really stood out.
Service was very slow. We were sitting around for a while waiting for someone to take our order. Drinks also took a long time to come after we ordered them. Maybe they were just having an off night because I’ve had friends that have gone before and had great service. They were out of the drink and one of the food items I tried to order and one of the food items had to be sent back as it was undercooked. Maybe they are a better brunch spot. On a positive note, they were great at letting me update my reservation to add more people. I’ve heard they are great for groups but maybe this only applies for brunch?
The food and service was top notch, but the noise level was really distracting.
Ambiance is nice. Had great reviews and great pics of food plates but maybe for night time? We were there for Sat brunch/ lunch; short list on menu for options... drinks were good.
We were seated already (4ppl) on a regular table and was asked to move 2x by 2 different staff members to a smaller table to which we said -no the first time. Not a great first impression for service.
The burgers here could be better; a little on the bland side and a tad dry.
Not so far from the boardwalk and beach. An awesome place for fancy meal.
Disappointed. Menu was limited. Only the ceviche was good in the brunch menu. Had an experience with the cleaning staff which was not appropriate. My wife went to the rest room and a male cleaning staff member followed her in without knocking the door or giving any notice. Then he started washing his hands in the rest room next to my wife. This was all very inappropriate and not expected from a place like this. Rest of the service was courteous but this destroyed the whole experience. Also parking is a pain so just valet. Would not come here again!
Upper echelon brunch experience
Not a terrible experience but not a good experience whatsoever. Definitely overpaid for quality of food and service and won’t be back. Food was okay. Server never asked how we enjoyed the food, so we ended up leaving being unsatisfied with the meal.
Food was good.
Place is nice.
Service was terrible !!!!!
Food was outstanding, service great, but noise level way too high.
I do not usually write reviews, but my experience here was so bad that I think its necessary to share. We were greeted by our server, and then forgotten about for about 20 min. The ceviche tostada was bland. Food was delivered to our table that we did not order on 3 separate occasions. My glass of wine was comped, but I was overcharged for my dinner (an extra flat bread was put on my bill). Our server and the staff were very apologetic, but our experience overall was a disaster.
