Very pricey but I was expecting that.
The food was fabulous - the wine pairing was excellent with very interesting choices.
Service was impeccable.
Amazing culinary experience. Steven Greene is one of, if not the best, chefs working in the triangle area.
This was a surprise for my wife’s birthday and it met and exceeded all of our expectations! We had the 3 course meal and were not disappointed. Thank you so much and I know we will be back!
We have been Herons a couple times. Both time we enjoyed a great show. The food was beautifully presented, service was impeccable, restaurant was nicely decorated with art pieces. So it was a good show. Certainly you can impress your date or business partner. But, as a foodie I will not go there on my own dime. All the food taste, however pretty it was, was mediocre. Service was cold and impersonal. Nothing was memorable other than the big bill at the end. I would go to Crawford or Garland instead any day.
One of the best dining experiences we've ever had. The food was prepared and served impeccably.
An amazing meal on so many different levels. Wonderful and creative, excellent professional service, and beautiful ambiance all make for a very special evening.
Outstanding venue, service, staff and food! Met with Chef Steven Greene .....unforgettable experience!
This is the second time I tried their chef’s tasting course dinner. While it is a bit more expensive than their regular course dinner, I believe that most people will find the chefs tasting course dinner to be a significantly better dining experience. I would give the regular course dinners about three to four stars, both in terms of taste and presentation. The chef‘s tasting course dinner deserves five stars on both and is as good as many course menus that you find in Manhattan or Los Angeles. Regardless of the course dinner selection, the service is impeccable and the wine selection is wonderful. There are even some very interesting nonalcoholic beverage options for those who choose to not drink alcohol.
Going to Heron's is always a special experience. The service and food are exceptional.
No words needed
I have already referred several people here and am bringing back the family. Eating in the bar looked good too but the meal in the dining room, specifically the 4 course dinner was wonderful. Loved the between the courses treats. And congratulations to the chef who is a James Beard finalist. Just read that in the paper
We could not have had a better experience! The food and service were incredible. We will be going back!
Great atmosphere, food was amazing, and service was outstanding.
A wonderful place to experience. The food was incredible. You have the options of a 3 course, 4 course or chef tasting menu. There are 4-6 things to choose off of each course. There is a wine pairing option or you can go a la carte for drinks. Things that stood out:
1) The food - The care, the quality, the flavors, the presentation are superb. Don't be shy and get the skate to eat - so very good.
2) The atmosphere - It was very nice; it wasn't overcrowded with people and you could have a conversation without yelling (seems to be rarer to find these days).
3) The cider - We ended on a hot cider, which was the perfect ending to the courses.
I wish the service was a little more attentive - refilling water, drinks and just general check-ins. The plating service and descriptions were spot on though. I think it was slightly lacking for a 5 star restaurant. Overall - It's a wonderful place to go for a celebration and we are glad we tried it during our trip to Cary.
It was for my husband’s birthday. It was fantastic, from the tiny tastings at the beginning, tea served in a special glass, to all the courses, and the amazing delicious!
One of the best dining experience we have ever had! Amazing food, almost like magic :)
My fiance and I are big foodie's, travelling the globe in search of great cuisine. Heron's has earned a special place in our hearts. Excellent food, setting and wait staff. 5 stars both times we have visited! if you have not tried it, do it!
The oyster small plate was lovely; the scallops second course
Did the chef's tasting with beverage pairing. Every dish was absolutely phenomenal. The chefs tak southern ingredients and transforms them into a variety of modern dishes that are thought provoking and challenging the tradition of classic fine southern dining. Service was absolutely top notch with no complaints at all.
A few things to note - the chef's tasting menu as of 1/2020 is quite rich. The first courses are very light and refreshing; however, every subsequent dish was quite heavy and meat forward. While some diners may enjoy this, I found that I would have liked to balance these very rich dishes with something lighter and more vegetable-centric. However, I imagine some diners may like this style of a tasting menu. This is not to say any of the dishes were bad - quite the contrary actually as every dish was impeccable. However, together, it is quite a marathon getting through them all. Retrospectively, I think a 3 or 4 course tasting menu of these dishes may have been suitable rather than 7+ courses. Additionally, I was slightly underwhelmed by the wine pairing. While the sommelier was knowledgeable and personable, I felt as though the wine pairing for each dish mimicked the food, rather than complimented it. I personally prefer a lighter wine to cut through the heaviness and gameiness of certain meats. While none of the wines were bad on their own, I personally felt as though the wine pairing with the tasting menu could have been better.
Overall - I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exciting and modern take on classic southern fine dining. My highest regards to the chefs and house staff at Herons for such a fantastic evening.
Birthday lunch. Excellent customer service, staff and food.
Gourmet experience in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend.
Fabulous dinner for my husband’s birthday! What a treat!
Beautiful food, very well presented. A real exploration for your taste buds.
Service was formal and perhaps a little too much so.
Wine advice was underwhelming, but list is so extensive that if you know what you're doing you'll find something good, at the budget you want.
Overall good value.
As always, this is the place for a special dinner. The food was imaginative and delicious, especially with the wine pairings. The muse bouche between courses was a delightful addition.
