This was the most incredible dinner we have had in a long time. The food was impeccable, the wine pairings were well thought out, and the service was on a completely different level; professional, yet fun and informative. We cannot say enough about our experience. From the hosts, to the bartenders, the waitstaff and the kitchen, this was an experience we will think about for a long time. Thank you so much, Heron’s!
As in the past visits we have had, Herons delivers a memorable dining experience: most professional service, knowledgeable and personable sommelier , artistic and delicious courses with perfect wine pairings. We always expect and receive a culinary delight, some new twist on an old favorite, and extraordinary plate presentations...it's a small trip to happy place when we dine at Herons. It is world class and can compete with any high-end European restaurant. Do as many course as your purse allows and pair the wines for a fabulous experience you will think about fondly for the rest of the week.
Just had a perfect day after Thanksgiving dinner.
Great service, great food!! We have eaten at Herons before and it is always a wonderful dining experience.
Served my wife an item with gluten when she was having the gluten free tasting menu. She has celiacs so it’s a serious issue.
we were there for a special occasion and dressed accordingly but I had to cover myself up with 2 shawls (one over a long sleeved dress and the other brought to me by the server, for the draft around my legs) After 3 complaints about the cold, we were finally relocated to a table away from the large windows.
I was surprised not to have more vegetables on the plates, given that the kitchen is supplied by a farm.
The staff, especially the sommelier, was terrific, otherwise.
Seems there was a mix up and my wife got the non gluten free bread before our meal. We made a note of her preference during the reservation. My steak, bordered medium rare came are inside and has to go back. Other wise it was pretty good.
Outstanding service as always and the food is delicious. I live about 40 minutes away and try to find every excuse I can to dine there.
Splendid, Always !
It's the perfect place to catch up with a friend and linger over a nice meal. All of our food was delicious but the menu, while wonderful if you're an adventurous eater is difficult with a picky eater. Everything is beautifully plated. Our server was so kind and helpful and that helped a lot.
The best meal I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious and impeccable.
Took my best friend out to lunch here for her birthday. She loved everything from the moment she walked in to the moment she walked out. Nice server, good food, lovely dining ambiance. Will definitely return in the future.
We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was fabulous and the service outstanding!
Best ever! We enjoyed the experience! Presentation, service and meal was 2nd to none!
Excellent food, nice touches with bringing out “chef special appetizer”, and complimentary champagne for my husband’s 55th birthday. After lunch, we took a beautiful walk around the pond.
We enjoyed the quiet elegance of the hotel. Food was good. Dessert is scarce!
Fabulous restaurant, great service, amazing food I wish I could eat there every day! I will definitely return great menu Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Beautiful property, great art, bar and Veranda.
Great food, nice staff
The breakfast menu was broad and accommodating to most tastes. I enjoyed the crab cakes but these were not that fresh considering the price tag. The coffee was hot which for most establishment is not the case.
First off ... $50 per person to reserve?? Not sure I've actually ever had to pay to reserve ... anywhere. For the area (RDU) I believe the quality of this restaurant is above average, but the service was only adequate and by no means up the level of the food with the exception of the Sommelier who put together an excellent pairing for our 4-course tasting menu. Oysters to start were outstanding, but the descriptions from the servers we're incoherent. Thankfully our main waiter (when present) had the in-depth descriptions we wanted. Canapés were creative, delicious and well presented. Elk main had a plethora of warm winter flavors and varying textures which was delightful. The Whiskey Ginger sorbet with fleur de l'orange meringue tuile was a perfect ending with wonderful subtleness and delicate flavors that paired perfectly with our fortified wines. A delicious meal overall but with service seemingly disinterested in going above the bare minimum and a price tag for 2 near $500 I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon or recommending to colleagues. Raleigh now has some true alternatives that far exceed overall what's happening at Heron's.
Portion was small and pricing was obscure if u do less than the 3 or 4 course choices
Food was very good as usual but service was a bit lacking on this visit. Several items were slow to come out, a glass of wine was ordered and never made it to the table, and the server took ages to come to the table after we finished the main course. They did comp us our desert but still, disappointing at this price point.
Amazing. Meticulous preparation, polished delivery, knowledgeable service. Thank you so much!
Decided to splurge on the Art Tour for a birthday celebration. Definitely worth it!
Service and food is incredible
Molecular gastronomy delight. Very creative food. Not all dishes pleased my palate, but presentation was thoughtful and added eye appeal to the experience. The tranquil, upscale setting was quite a treat in these days of noisy, move them out quickly restaurants.
Always wonderfully presented unique dishes.
A real culinary experience.
Exceptional presentation, flavors and unique food plates. Service is impeccable. A beautiful restaurant, filled with gorgeous art works, sculptures and ambient lighting. The presentation of the food was in itself the best art . Herons provides a very memorable dining experience. One of our favorites ever.
Heron's is a very special place definitely not your common or garden restaurant. The whole meal is treated by staff and kitchen as a theatrical performance, with the food being the star. Highly adventurous dishes, immaculately presented, follow one another served by people who are knowledgeable but never condescending. Its not cheap, but is worth every penny if you are on a very special date, for example.
For a "once in a lifetime" dinning experience, you can't do better than Herons! While expensive, for a "special occasion", it's worth every dime!
It was very nice for business lunch. But, they really need to learn how to foam almond milk for cappuccino.
The best restaurant hands down! The food is just amazing and service is great. Their attention to detail make it a fantastic culinary experience. Highly recommend it!
