Hermanos Restaurant - Exchange District Ratings and Reviews
I made a special request not to be bothered after the food was put down on the table, and not only did they actually follow through with that which is why I tipped, the fact that we weren't interrupted means I was able to completely finish my sales pitch in its entirety and managed to score a deal, so the next time I go back the waitress if she's there, is getting a huge tip.
Went for my 40th bday. Party of 5. All of us 1st timers. Tuesday night, restaurant wasn't busy.
Orders some apps, and mains. First impression of food, calamari breading was falling off and quite chewy, also horrendously small portion for price. Same with shrimp app, very small.
All 5 of us had steak, ALL 5 WERE UNDER COOKED. 2 of us sent them back, rest of us were too hungry after the tiny apps, we just ate what we could.
Also had fruit flies buzzing around our table. GROSS!
Our server was just okay, but seemed to take forever to bring the bill, considering how empty the place was. Our total bill was over $500 for the 5 of us, what a ripoff!
None of us would ever return. Disappointing!
Was food was good nothing special But took over an hour 1.5 hours for our food to come out. on top of it, there was an 18% tip added to our bill, the waitress was great but the service from the chefs not so much will not be going back again for any type of celebrations disappointed.
First time customer and it lived up to everything friends said about Hermanos in the exchange. I will be visiting again with friends and family for the exact same experience, only draw back was being told by a hostess that the next reservation is waiting for the table 30 min before there reservation time. It does not take 30 minutes to clean off a table , we left earlier then thought at that point.
Ate at hermanos on Osborne earlier in year and it was fantastic. This meal on bannatyne not so much. Ordered the same meal however ribeye was very fatty and bloody though we ordered medium. Server was “invisible”. Rarely came around. To top it off there was a Christmas party going on. They were loud, singing, cheering, clapping, using microphone. Ruined our date night to say the least. Not worth the almost $200 bill. Disappointing.
The service was great, we were offered free champagne and a seat at the bar while waiting for our table. We had mussels as our appetizer, they were absolutely delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta as my entree, the portion was on the smaller side for $30, but quite yummy nonetheless. We were seated far from the live music which was unfortunate, even though we had made a reservation. However, we could still hear the music and it was really good. Overall a great place to go for a special occasion as it is quite pricey but definitely worth it.
Very good food and waitress tried her best while managing a table of 40 . Unfortunately we waited an hour and a half to get our food we did receive 10% off but we were all starving at that point. Live band was nice but very loud was super hard to have a conversation . Would come back and recommend though
Attended prior to an event at The Burt. The menu is somewhat limited but the food that we did order was all very good. Our server was very professional and helpful. Some of the selections were Caesar salad with mussel appetizer (as an entrée), very good, paella also very good, a steak Napolitano with melted cheese and garlic potatoes, good, but not excellent, a pasta dish, a steak that was slightly over-cooked. The wine by the glass was all good. Mine was a cabernet/carmenere blend which was quite nice, and the sauvignon blanc was reportedly good. Many of the steaks were expensive and were not chosen due to excessive cost. Atmosphere is nice, but somewhat noisy.
Interesting decor, lively vibe, friendly waiters/waitresses. The food was so-so, nothing remarkable considering the prices. One of the diners ordered steak - OK except for two inedible gristly bits.... The fish soup had a lot of mussels, clams, shrimp but the base seemed to be mostly stringy red peppers and onions.
The beef served at Hermanos is very good. However, for the price, it would be nice if the restaurant served something other than a skewer of one green pepper, onion and some other no descript vegetable plus the usual small cob of corn and mashed potatoes. It has been the same sides since it opened and South Hermanos is following the same inexpensive unimaginative path. I doubt I will frequent the restaurant unless I can have an option on the type of side I receive or they change it up
The steak was very good! Gluten free options. Server was very attentive, helpful and knew the menu. The garlic mashed potatoes were not warm, but the server replaced them quickly with piping hot fresh from the kitchen. The restaurant was a little warm. Overall, the food and service were awesome! Close walk to MTC and Concert Hall. Great staff! Always a great experience.
Our second visit to Hermano's. It is a fancy but casual place, meant to be a bit hip for the Exchange District and Theatre crowd. A bit too much bustle in my opinion for a fine dining restaurant, but great for a night out.
We had calamari as an appetizer, which was good (a bit peppery!) although I would have liked the crispy coating to stay on the squid rings a bit better.
I had the NY strip steak done rare, and my wife had the skewered beef also done rare. The meat was very tasty but not as tender as I would have expected for a restaurant that specializes in steak. The homemade chimichurri was aromatic but maybe a bit too oily in proportion to the herbs. The meat was accompanied by grilled mushrooms, flavoured mashed potato, a wedge of squash and a section of corn on the cob. The corn was very sweet and tender even though it was the end of October!
I forget what they called the dessert we had - it was a chocolate mousse with dark chocolate wafers. Excellent, not too sweet or heavy.
With wine the bill was just over $200 CDN for the two of us. For this price, the meal fell just a little bit short of expectations. It was very pleasant but not outstanding.
I love Hermano’s and we have enjoyed groups for work and family occasions and never been disappointed in the stellar food and service. Your waitresses are the BEST. Love the musicians.
Many thanks for making our son’s grad a memorable experience.
I often recommend Hermano’s to friends.
