Not their best night. First the good. The cocktails and the wine were excellent. But the service and food were satisfactory. They were fully staffed but the restaurant was surprisingly empty for a holiday weekend. Despite that, and having made a reservation, instead of seating us in the main dining room with all the holiday decorations and better atmosphere, they sat just the two of us in the corner of the secondary room by the windows at a table for six?!?! Only one other couple was in this area and they were seated at a four top on the other side of the room. We ordered caesar side salads and they were lackluster with aging lettuce and crumpled crackers over the top. My wife had a shrimp pasta which was enjoyable. I ordered the fish special which was light and flaky on the outside but pure rubber the more you worked your way in. Very disappointing for the price... Waiter was largely remote after the entres were served and never asked how the meal was. We've enjoyed Herbie's in the past. But for the occasional date night we get these days, this was a let down. We went somewhere livelier and more reliable for desert.

Understaffed, service was very slow and inconsistent. Dining room is boxed off in middle of establishment without windows and between two large party rooms. We opted to sit at a table in the bar area and it was much nicer. Food was good but on the expensive side considering everything. Not sure I’d go again before patio season.

The restaurant has excellent service and excellent food, but the main dining room is excessively noisy. We were there for lunch at 12:30pm and the room was half-full, but the noise level was unacceptable. I have noticed this every time I have eaten there and so do not prefer it despite so many nice features of the restaurant.

We went for brunch and it was awesome! The new chef has definitely made a difference!!! We shared the salmon crepes for an appetizer. They were amazingly thin and full of flavor. I had the shrimp jumbalaya with grits WOW. We split a carafe of mimosas that was definitely more champagne than oj. The service was friendly and fast. Definitely will return.

Melika does a great job in the bar for lunch. She is always friendly and gets our food and drinks to us quickly. The new lunch menu is very good and we enjoyed the duck salad and spicy chicken sandwich.

we joined Herbies for brunch. This was our second time and I have to say it was much improved. The food came out in a timely manner and was all delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. They also serve carafes of mimosas!

Women’s rest room was filthy and no toilet paper. Food was marginal at best. One person in the party could not get what she wanted because they “forgot to defrost the salmon” for her lox. And this is supposed to be for brunch. Kind of an important thing to remember. The only positive was the service was excellent and very friendly staff.

I enjoy Herbies. This was the first time I ordered the chicken salad. Unfortunately, it was VERY dry. How disappointing. Manhattan was okay, but the Pino Grigio was very good.

We had beef wellington which took us back to the great dish from Balabans. It was delicious. A couple of people has the swordfish and loved it. Service was excellent. I think Herbies is having a renaissance.

Wait staff and manager were awesome. Food not so much. Except for the Brussel Sprouts which were amazing. I had the honey chicken which came with gnocchi. Chicken was so incredibly tough. I could not cut it with a knife. Was like rubber. And the gnocchi was so over cooked it look like mashed potatoes.

The food was bland…. Everything we had, from the lobster bisque (no lobster too much cream), the pumpkin risotto, the veal chop, the half roasted chicken, the apple crisp….All of it needed seasoning, no flavor. The apple crisp was missing the vanilla bean ice cream and was clearly left under a broiler too long. Our waiter, Brian, seemed like he was very new and was not attentive or observant at all. Finished plates sat way too long before being picked up, wait times between dinner and dessert was way too long. The restaurant was not busy….so that could not be an excuse. When we were sat, we told Brian we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday - he even checked her ID when we ordered champagne. He made no effort to offer a special dessert or appetizer. When we did order dessert on our own, and it was delivered I took a picture of my daughter and the he noticed and said…. Oh is it a special occasion? Our bill was close to $300, definitely not worth it.

In general, a very nice restaurant with great ambience and great food. The noise level was deafening. Our section of the dining room was full and it was very hard to have a conversation. It could have been a fabulous dinner if we could have heard each other talk. Also, I ordered a hot tea with desert. The waiter obviously didn’t know how to serve tea. They need to develop a proper tea service.

Our timing is pretty bad when it comes to eating here. The patio always seems to be under construction. Thought we would be able to eat off lunch menu…did not know it was only brunch on a Saturday. Still, we found something we enjoyed. The music was loud and at one point very loud…perhaps because there was a birthday celebration in one of the side rooms.

I haven’t been here in a long time. We were so happy we came. The food and service was excellent. We sat in the bar and it was lively but we were able to still talk. Had a great night and will definitely be back. The lemon tart is a must.
