Food is very Good. Staff seems quite Rushed. Not the place if you would like a longer dinner experience.
Excelente food and service.
Oysters are a must.
Amazing ambiance and incredible food!!! Bucatini and whipped feta were out of this world! And so was the truffle mushroom goat cheese pizza!
Everything was fabulous!! The carrots were especially good as well as the filet mignon. Great ambiance and service. Will definitely go back!
Food was great!!
We absolutely love this spot - our first time back since the pandemic started. Every single dish and drink was excellent. Waiters and staff were incredibly attentive and professional. A note to new and returning customers that prices have increased a bit at the restaurant, understandably to account for the long closure. For a first dinner out with family post vaccine, it was an absolute treat. Thanks to everyone at Herb & Wood for making these special evenings possible.
Amazing food and atmosphere
Beautiful place. Food was good. Great atmosphere.
This place seems to be having some trouble getting used to being open again. This was our third time eating at Herb and Wood, and our worst experience here. We will not be coming back for a while. Service was OK. Server took a long time between greeting us after we were seated and taking our drink orders. Drinks took a while to show up, and it was a long lag before server was back to take appetizer orders, then even longer for main course orders. Starters were very good, despite taking a while to show up. By the time my main course showed up, the food was cold and needed to be sent back. The replacement arrived quickly, but was similarly cold. By then, I was disappointed and not interested in asking them to do it a third time. Dessert was just OK; the kitchen did give us a complimentary dessert for the food coming out cold. Just a so-so experience from a place that has set the bar significantly higher for themselves.
The best meal we had in San Diego - the service was incredible and the atmosphere was gorgeous! Pricey for sure, so just be aware.
First important to note that this place has such a fun open decor on the inside and felt very COVID safe since an entire wall is kept open to the outdoors and air is flowing freely throughout the restaurant. We had a phenomenal waitress who advised us along the way. I loved the middle eastern influence throughout the menu, such as the muhammara and zaatar in different dishes. It was a lot of fun to experience the creativity and thought that went into planning this menu. We started with unique and tasty cocktails - Mezcal & Flowers and Honey & Bourbon. We did this meal family style so that we could try a lot of things. We picked two fantastic seafood appetizers for the table - Hamachi and Tuna Tartare - which were fresh and light. Then we had a delicious lamb ragu pasta. Finally we finished the meal with Branzino and Filet, both mouth-watering delicious. Our waitress also made a fantastic wine recommendation to go with both.
Had a reservation for a certain time and still had to wait about 20 min to be seated, took a long time to be able to order food and drinks, the drinks arrived after the food and was a considerable wait kind of understandable becasue place was full, but unexcusable that drinks were so late. Food was not that great considering the prices. What saved the evening was our waiter she was very conscious about our wait and gave us the drinks for free and even brought a free desert, with that great gesture I will be inclined to give this place another try on a less busy night.
It was OK, good.
This place has definitely has lost quality since last time here October 2020.
Great taste but mushy gnocchi, small oysters, good dessert. Smaller portions, not so fresh hamachi.
Last time was a stunner, this time was just good.
The staff here were very attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was positive and vibrant. I highly recommend!
We were shoved in the corner and felt the menu was very overpriced for what it was...a contrast to juniper and ivy who treats you to Michelin rated dishes at a steal. The gentlemen serving us was the star of the show, very informative and helpful. The noise level was impossible to hear the company I was with and when asked to be moved, they did not accommodate. Perhaps this is more suited for larger parties who are celebrating and wanting to spend for mediocre food. The whipped feta and spotted prawns were amazing but the pizza was over done and the trumpet mushrooms were underdone. Portions are all over the place.
Amazing food, ambiance, and service!!!!
The staff was fantastic, super friendly and knowledgeable. They made our special occasion really special. My only regret is not have enough appetite to try everything we wanted!
Oh man! The Branzino was so, so good. I recommend it.
Esteban was an amazing bartender and host! Top tier service without a doubt. We'll definitely be back just for him... Also this place just has an epic layout an feel! Highly recommend. Amazing kitchen too!
Easter brunch. The food was fantastic! So delicious and generous portions. The service was wonderful. Can’t wait to go back!
Place was very busy cuz Easter brunch. We felt that the service was still good enough but not on par with their usual standards. Our first glass of Pinot noir was slightly under poured by our server (we didn’t say anything, but the second glass was the “correct” amount, at least around the same as the ones we had at our previous visits, also was more than the first glass). Food tasted very good but was lacking a little presentation wise, again due to their busyness; same with cocktail. Everything just felt so rushy made. Would still come back for regular dinning but definitely not holiday/special day.
Music was way too loud and need to be toned down acoustics were very noisy other than music also
Fuimos al Easter brunch y todo delicioso!!!!!
Great food. Service felt a bit rushed, but understandable as it was for Easter brunch.
Great time at Easter brunch. The prix fixed menu was awesome, lots to choose from and enough to take for lunch the next day. Great service, very knowledgeable, and friendly.
Super courteous staff. We’re able to accommodate our late arriving guests and gave us the perfect table for the wheelchair user in our party. Wait staff could not be better. Food was excellent.
Easter brunch was delicious
Easter brunch was amazing! The fixed menu was absolutely delicious!
Incredible service and even better food and atmosphere.
Fabulous Easter brunch ! Each courae was delicious and seasoned to perfection! Wait staff was beyond accommodating and super friendly!
Easter brunch was great
Gran lugar y comida
Excelentes cócteles
Si buscas un lugar con ambiente es gran opcion
Sexy space, distanced for pandemic yet could see and feel like part of the action. Outdoor patio was designed and not just an afterthought. The food was magnificent.
Went with 2 others on a crowded Saturday night. We did have a delay seating (10 minutes), but they were kind and upfront about it. Once seated everything went smoothly. Service was attentive, food (and cocktails) was fabulous. Great evening in a lively and fun setting.
This has been a go to restaurant of my husband and I for quite a while. The ambience and food are exceptional however the service, especially that of one of the owners, when we very politely raised a concern over an issue we encountered, was completely unprofessional. He went as far as to give us our check and cancelled our desert. It is safe to say we will not be supporting this restaurant again, what a let down. It is probably best for me to mention that the restaurant is currently running well beyond its capacity, if you are concerned over any safety protocols you might want to give this one a miss too.
We made a reservation a week ago for my husband's birthday and asked that we be seated outside. We were on time for our reservation and still had to wait over 20 min for our table. When we checked in with the hostess again she told us to wait right on front of the table and she's seat us. We waited another 5 min or so inside and then they lead us to an indoor table. When I told the ~18ish year old host we requested an outdoor table, he was rather dismissive and condescending and said the hostess can't possibly accommodate all requests and we'd have to wait longer for a table outside. So we sat inside. Our waiter was more personable and pleasant but did not check in frequently enough when we needed drink refills or anything.
The food was fantastic. I highly recommend the prawn special if they have it. The jamon iberico was great as well, although it didn't really go well with the pan con tomate that they served it with (the tomato overpowered the jamon). The oysters and bone marrow was excellent. The oxtail gnocchi was SO good!
The food was a good value for the money. The wine list is very overpriced, more so than most high end restaurants in San Diego, especially when buying by the bottle, which is odd. It's actually more economical to buy by the glass.
Amazing atmosphere! Open air concept mixed with al fresco dining. At the center of the restaurant is an amazing bar with views of the entire restaurant. The food is amazing. We had the oxtail gnocchi and shrimp appetizer. Both are a must try. Will not regret anything you eat here.
Outstanding service, our waiter was a magnificent describer of the menu items, the flavors, etc. And the food was very very good!! Would recommend.
This is my new favorite restaurant in San Diego, I will definitely be back here next time I’m in town. The food was extremely delicious, every bite was out of this world. The service was amazing, our waiter was awesome. Went here for my 24th birthday and I plan to come back for my 25th!
Ambience was the only great thing at this fine dining place, and since it was ambience we went there for, it was good. Food was just decent, and so were the drinks.
