Excellent service, ambience, and of course food. An all around superlative dining experience. One of our faves!
Great food, table wasn’t ready when we got there
Little noisey inside, the food was almost on point. The are some dishes that seem out if place and under the taste standard when compared to the other dishes. I am curious when they have guest Chefs. Would recommend trying out this place though.
What a delightful visit. Food, drinks & service were all outstanding. From the attention of the manager fitting us in at the last moment, to our Kim, our server who made the evening a great memory.
We love the atmosphere at Herb & Wood. It is decorated so beautifully. We love to bring friends. The food is amazing. Service was great! It is sometimes a little noisy depending on where you sit but everything else makes up for it.
Our server Ricky truly made my birthday so so special! We had never been to Herb and Wood before, and he took EXCELLENT care in guiding us through our meal with PERFECT drink pairings. He was very professional and personable and picked absolutely AMAZING dishes for us to try. The chicken liver pate was unreal delicious! We had SUCH a wonderful weekend time! Thank you Ricky and everyone at Herb and Wood! :)
The portions were too small. Dishes were flavorful. This is great a date restaurant.
Chicken liver toast. Branzino. PB & C. All superb.
Great team outing worth the uber ride
Great food, had great service that night. A bit spendy but overall a great night with my family
Absolutely exceptional all the way around. I highly recommend!
We were really disappointed by our dinner at Herb & Wood. Me and couple of friends were in town visiting and we were really excited about our dinner at Herb & Wood. The place looked great and their website paints a really positive picture of the restaurant experience. Unfortunately when we went the quality of the food, service and overall experience was not up to pare with our expectations. Service was horrible, we were never checked on, we felt rushed and felt quite unwelcome. It seemed like the waiters just wanted to rush us thru dinner so they can be done for the night. The food was okay. Nothing special. I will say that the pear soufflé was incredible tho. The place is super beautiful and it’s a shame that we had that kind of experience because the place seems to have a lot of potential. Sadly we will not be returning to Herb & Wood during our future visits to San Diego.
Beautiful ambiance and attentive, solid service. That being said, the food was okay. I would definitely recommend the wood fired mushroom pizza - the crust had an amazing chew. The gnocchi with oxtail was delicate and great flavor but not enough gnocchi. :) The roasted branzino presentation was beautiful as well as tasty. Our server was fantastic - as were almost all the staff we encountered during the evening. However, I have to say the price point is pretty high. Overall, we had a pleasant, enjoyable experience.
Besides the dirty fork and small green worm from the raw greens on the 1st pizza, everything was good.
Sunday Brunch was delicious... it is a very nice Sunday experience but note: it is not a buffet it a la carte, but nevertheless it was great. Service as always very very friendly even though it gets crowded by noon.
I would strongly recommend making reservations.
We love this place. It's our new staple when we visit SD from LA. Amazing food and service. The space is also beautiful. The downside is the noise, but it's not so loud that you can't enjoy conversation or dinner.
Great date spot, food is average, the server was friendly, the runner could use some smile or sincerity. We appreciate the corner booth for our special date night.
I was really looking forward to eating at Herb and Wood! I had heard many great things about it. Sadly I thought it was just ok. The food was average at best!
Service team of Bobby and Xander were outstanding....Ambiance was slightly noisy and hard to converse but creative atmosphere...Food was good but not as good as I would have expected especially fro the price....I found everything overly priced and would be a consideration for any future visits....
Food was amazing. We now need to come again and try different options.
Their service is outstanding.
Food expensive for the portions
Service, drinks, and food all amazing as usual. Desserts are even spectacular and everyone should order a few.
Unimpressed with food and service. Expectations were high but food was OK (not special) and service was lacking.
Can not wait to go back and try more of what they have to offer. Such great decor the moment you walk in and the food and drinks were fresh and delicious. The service from Madeleine was excellent.
Fabulous brunch, inventive dishes, prompt service, great experience. Can't wait to go back!
Terrible place unless you like a fine dinning experience that is super noisy and leaves you feel you were at airport cafeteria . Will never go back.
Portions too small for the price
I had high expectations from this place. The menu reads well but the execution was just average.
We ordered the grilled avocado, trout roe, Nuoy Cham, burrata. Just fair
Also Cauliflower hummus, sumac, flatbread which was better.
Roasted baby carrots and also roasted cauliflower. Carrots were good, cauliflower was fair.
We shared a roasted branzino which was good.
My wife’s Birthday. Our waitress Amelia was awesome! We will be back on this trip.
Design was lovely! Food was good!
Ambiance was great but food wasn’t very good especially for the price.
The ambience here is outstanding. So is the service. However, we would not return. The food just was not that impressive.
Very hit or miss.
Great service and excellent spirits menu. Delicious gluten free desserts too!
Aside from the noise, which we forgot about when our first plates arrived, this was an outstanding dining experience. We are vegetarians, and this place is doing wondrous things with carrots, beets, mushrooms, and other vegetables. Subtle and complex, but still letting the vegetable shine through. Loved it!
We had a business dinner here. The food and service were phenomenal. Very unique dishes. It was a tad loud for conversation.
The branzino in procuring
Very poor service. Food was ok. Service brought down value of experience
Everyone was gracious and very helpful. We had a wonderful evening.
Jamie, our server, was exceptional. He helped make our dinner truly memorable.
