Came here for date night while in town. I was so happy I was able to get a reservation before we went into shutdown. The staff was amazing and the food was so tasty. We ordered the sea bass, pizza, and mushrooms and a few other salads. Everything was eaten. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful. Can't wait to go back.

I feel like San Diego’s food scene always underwhelms me, but we’ve finally found a restaurant we’re excited about! This one is fit for foodies! Try the hamachi appetizer for sure. The scallops in curry sauce and the Iberico pork were also exceptional. Delish! And the service is top notch, too!

We were there the last night before the governor shut down outdoor dining. Everyone was happy and very attentive despite the looming shutdown. Brian Malarkey came out and made his rounds to all the tables. The food was outstanding and we will definitely come again when restaurants open up again!!

First experience, but Thanksgiving and a set menu. Service really slow, but may be due to Covid-19 staffing.
Overall ambience is nice, but we were seated below a exceptionally bright recessed light, which slightly took away from the nice lighting provided in the restaurant. Music was a great selection, but a bit loud for a holiday meal...still we appreciated it.

The food was good except that the turkey my husband ordered tasted like fish. We wondered if they were cooked in proximity to each other.

I will go back on a non-holiday to get the real experience.

Great Thanksgiving meal! Our server was exceptional. The cocktails were on point. The appetizers were very good and the main courses, though a set menu, provided options for every palate. Chef Malarkey taking pictures with us by chance when we arrived, especially the time he spent with our granddaughter, was very touching.

Staff is very well trained. We had the Thanksgiving meal. However our 3 mains did not arrive at the same time. 2 came first and it was a good 10mins before the 3rd one came, and by the time we all started to eat, the (delicious) gravy had congealed into a glob. Shrimp appetizer was really good, hamachi not so, it didn't taste very fresh. Prime rib tasted great, swordfish a little overcooked. Could improve on the plating for mains. We really enjoyed the sides and apple-pear pie - cranberry compote was a favorite!

Lovely evening with friends on the day before shut-down (ugh). Wonderful selection of appetizers and entrees, along with side dishes. Server very informative and helpful on drink selection and entree selection. Sat in the "open air" part of the restaurant which was quite nice. Hope that Herb & Wood can survive another shut-down.

Celebrated our anniversary. Very good restaurant. Great service. Made our anniversary special. Food well prepared but flavors could be more interesting. Desserts were spectacular. The baked Alaska was amazing.

Great food! Everything on the menu was extremely delicious. Highly recommend the food! Although, we didn't really appreciate the server reminding us that we had been there for 3 hours...especially when we had ordered over $1k worth of food and bottles of wine.

Our waiters were absolutely fantastic, they take pride in their process, someone was bringing us our entrees and realized we didn’t have our dinnerware on the table yet, so they fixed it before bringing the meal. I noticed that and was very happy to see the level of attention they bring to every detail, no matter how small!

My favorite restaurant in San Diego. Food is definitely not cheap but if you want a nice meal with great service, great drinks and ambiance, than you get what you pay for here.

We had the shrimp and Brie appetizers. Delicious. Husband had Gnocchi with Oxtail. Gnocchi perfect, Oxtail sauce was thin and a little too tangy. I had the Scallops - a little on the salty side but the dish overall was great.
